Indeed Penang is heaven for food lovers. My family & i was in Penang quite recently and we love it namely the food. We also visit Penang Hill, Escape Penang Theme Park, Tmn Rimba P. Penang, visited the famous Armenian Street, we miss Entopia bcos all want to eat asam laksa, cha kui Teow, hokkien mee, pan mien, nasi kandar (the q was long but worth it) & pasembur. We have an enjoyable holidays, went home satisfied before Christmas but overall we promise to come again.

Except for the rojak, most of these stalls try to go early like around 9 to 930 am. Hokkien mee is not open on Tuesday. For Bao De Dim Sum, you need to make reservation in advance and gets very pack on weekend or so only on weekday

My trip was cancelled earlier this year due to covid but I am reading that Malaysia now plans to open to international tourists from Jan 1st. How likely do you think this is?
14:43 Gotta say, Penang Laksa is probably my least favorite. Top honors go to the Kuching laksa, followed by Singapore's Katong variety. Note the western influence on Penang Laksa by the choice of noodle, essentially spaghetti, similar to the Johor variety. At the airport now, waiting to fly to Penang for my fourth visit there.

It is Truly Asia, after all, ain't it? 😂 I can't recommend any one place for laksa Katong in SG, but I like the general idea of the cockle flavored, santan broth. Possibly the dish that best captures the essence of the Peranakan and of the former Straits Settlements vibe. Another thing. Given the proximity to the Kingdom of Thailand, I always make a point of having Thai food in G-town. You should do a vid on that, Thai food in Penang.

I don't think they are rice noodles because rice noodles are hard and you need to soak for some minutes
and the Laska noodles are soft, very soft.

Laksa is just a name of a dish, a dish that's not known worldwide. So, laksa is not the name branch of the noodles.
