    I have the same mower. I can’t figure out what the problem is with it. It was leaking where you said that one was too. What was the carb you put on it?? I’d love to just slap a $24 amazon carb on it and carry on haha

      All good! I wasn’t expecting a response that fast at all so I’m just fine asking

    I have a 1987 JD165 which is identical to your 160. I’ve replaced the engine a few years ago. Just tuned it up and it runs very nice. The problem is the deck. It’s a real pain in the ass to install. I keep a snow blade on for winter which is easy to take on and off but the switch to the mower deck is a killer. Especially that weird small bracket on the right side that has a tension spring that is a mother to install. The manual is not helpful either. I appreciated your video. You cracked me up.

      🤣ya making mundane tasks humors keeps me fixing on stuff. The tensioner is a finger trap 9000.

      Usually I’d just clean the carbs. It’s just a toilet bowl for fuel. But for what ever reason I chose Amazon special for this video

    Hey man, great video. Learned lots about my JD 160 and had a few laughs in the process. So I bought my 160 over a year ago and I have 2-3 issues that I have not been able to figure out. My throttle goes from low idle to full throttle when you push the lever up a little. I've got a couple of videos on my channel that show the problems. And I just figured out that I have no brakes either... 🤦‍♂

      My machine needs steering work……. Still 🤣. I’ll get around to it eventual or push mow

      @@ColdStartGarage Have you greased the "wheel knuckles"? My steering was not turning at all until I greased them after sitting out all winter.

    • @ColdStartGarage
      @ColdStartGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hit a bunch of grease fittings. Lots of slop in the steering. I’ll be dismantling within a couple weeks… hopefully

      @@ColdStartGarage Hopefully they are not too far gone....if someone doesn't maintain those they can get pretty worn out.

      @@ColdStartGarage Also, I recall you saying something about bearings in the deck on the primary secondary pulley. Mine blew up (no maintenance done on them I suppose by previous owners), the whole pulley was over $300...the bearings $30, I replaced the bearings only and it works like a charm.

      Sorry about that. Sometimes when filming in the driveway and trying to wrench at the same time. Some footages slip through the cracks

    What is the length of belt you’re using for the blade deck? I can’t find one that fits. Thanks so much

    • @ColdStartGarage
      @ColdStartGarage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don’t happen to have the original do you? If you do tractor supply had a belt measure tool right In their store. I filmed this in 2022 and o forgot to add the lengths… and I don’t remember.

      1/2x88” for the drive belt, 1/2x66” on the deck,
      1/2x60” for the deck drive.

    There's no wrong way!?? But it's true you basically have to just do and hope not to lose anything or break something. You do a good enough job for me. None of that is easy so there's really no wrong way. Because most thing's are made to have to bring it to the dealership anyway.

      I just try to struggle through it and get it done. And try and have a good time while I’m at it. Thanks for the view and comment!
