I'd give them all a try if I could but the Ningyo-yaki, Taiyaki, and Pudding interest me the most. My state has a festival we hold once a year for the Japanese who live in it where you can go to learn about the culture in various ways, and plenty of vendors from various food places show up and offer their product..I actually got to try Taiyaki and Takoyaki that way, something I had wanted to do for awhile..sadly 2020 and 2021 were either canceled or virtual only due to the things that happened but I hope one day to go back and try the food again.
I was watching Chris Abroad's new video walking the Ginza line but he didn't stop by Ningyocho which is where I used to live. Had to look for videos showing my old neighbourhood. So glad I saw your video. You are great
Whenever you say "Tell us about yourself" to the people you meet in your videos, I know we are in for a treat - I love finding out about people who are proud of their work! Another great day with Shizuka!
I just had red bean paste for the first time the other day. Wasnt sure what to expect but oh my goodness it's amazing! Definitely get why it's in so many sweets around Japan
I decided to check out this channel due to a recommendation via CHEFPK's channel (I'm a frequent viewer there), he said this channel was the inspiration for his rolled karaage vid he posted on March 15th, so I decided to give a little look at this channel as I love Japanese history and seeing the food. Glad I checked out the channel, got a new subscriber.
Fantastic vid guys and it’s all in Tokyo and there super old stores I love that so when!!!!! I can get back there I will try them out 100% thanks!!!!👍🏻
In this era of instant gratification, it's fascinating to see 100+ year old shops and traditional food and recipes. It is disheartening to see Diabetes/heart-attack inducing western crap replacing traditional foods in my country.
Another a beautiful street food in Tokyo! Make me to want to spend the rest of my life for to explore and taste all these wonderful Japanese delicacies! ⛩♥
There's a long-fought controversy on how to eat taiyakis between two camps. One camp says you got to bite from the head. The other side advocates for eating from the tail end. Shizuka: *bites into the dorsal fins*
This was a great video of Ningyocho and hearing about its brief history. Taiyaki is one of my fave foods to eat in Japan and seeing the one you had at Yanagiya has me craving one now. Lol! I have never heard of this neighborhood but now I have. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place.
Mom would make that “pudding” for us when I was a kid, she would add a dash of vanilla extract to it before baking and a sprinkle of nutmeg, we called it egg custard. Brings back memories.
So sad I missed this neighborhood as I was looking for wagashi in Tokyo and had a hard time finding it beyond Ginza where I did try some. I am excited to go to this neighborhood when I visit Japan again in November if it has reopened!
Entertainment District burnt down by a great fire you said? Gyutaro, Tengen and Tanjiro may have something to do with that. 😂 You must be tired with my KNY references. The food looks delicious. I like it that they're freshly made. But the pudding is the one I'd like to try.
I love Shabu Shabu. Yaki Niku. And Gyu Dong. And Ramen. Soba and Udon. I hate rice balls and miso soup. But some serious Tako balls or a good Ton Katsu. Hummmm. D³LICIOUS. I am a lucky boy. I have little Tokyo in front of the door. One of japan'S biggest communities outside of Japan is in front of my door!!! Here in the little village in Germany. Called Düsseldorf. No need to stumble for a good Kirin or Asahi beeeeee ru. Sumimasen. Hitotsu o beeeeeeeeeeeeee ru kudasai!!! Oh I forgot the good Curry. And the Hamburg steak... there is so much more to love and hate japan about. Karaage... yakitori fresh from the grill. NEVER EAT THAT WEIRD PLANT THING.
🤔how come they are called Seven Lucky Gods ...but there is only... 6 ? and the thing called pudin.... that is a European dessert, Spanish - Portuguese dessert to be specific, called: Flan, that recipe was introduce in most parts of Asia about 150 years ago , when Spaniards expanded their reign over Asia ;) I know that, because here in my country and many other countries in the world, specially in what people call "latin america". we have the same dessert
Which foods would you try?
I would love to try all of them when I go I want to get good at speaking Japanese before I go I love Japan 😍🇯🇵
Sukiyaki nikuman looked HUGE! I’m going to This food destination when I’m back in Tokyo❤✌
Yummy!🤗

The gentleman who gave the camera crew some tea is the best! Very kind and sweet.

In this era of instant gratification, it's fascinating to see 100+ year old shops and traditional food and recipes.

Another a beautiful street food in Tokyo! Make me to want to spend the rest of my life for to explore and taste all these wonderful Japanese delicacies! ⛩♥
Really wanna try that pudding! Western influenced recipe from the 1600-1800s mmmm
There's a long-fought controversy on how to eat taiyakis between two camps. One camp says you got to bite from the head. The other side advocates for eating from the tail end.
Shizuka: *bites into the dorsal fins*
😂🤣🤣
I’m half-Asian so I guess I don’t pick sides 😂😂😂
Great video! I wonder how similar that egg custard is to flan.

Can you please stop travelling around, you are making my 'wish' list unmanageable ;) hehe
I'm so glad I can add these historic gems to my list of places to visit!! Especially the gyokuman shop, and that egg pudding-- the owner was so nice!!
Not too crazy about sweets but that croquettes and sukiyaki steamed bun🤤🤤🤤
Wonderful
So sad I missed this neighborhood as I was looking for wagashi in Tokyo and had a hard time finding it beyond Ginza where I did try some. I am excited to go to this neighborhood when I visit Japan again in November if it has reopened!

Hi Japan by food. Hi Shizzy. 😊
I wish your links to the locations were clickable links
must eat all the things
so pudding in Japan is Spanish Flan. Got it
Entertainment District burnt down by a great fire you said? Gyutaro, Tengen and Tanjiro may have something to do with that. 😂 You must be tired with my KNY references.
The food looks delicious. I like it that they're freshly made. But the pudding is the one I'd like to try.
Which part you prefer to eat first head or tail
You would think someone over there can make a mold to add the 7th god. Lol.
Shizukaaaaaaa
Yay
Pudding looks like Flan
What actually happened was demon Slayer corps was fighting the demons and the district burnt down you can watch it on demon slayer anime

there was no space for the 7th one:)
Edo is the old capital of Japan
Yes, Edo basically means old Tokyo :)
How many stomach do u have seriously? People would rolled me from the second store to the next one. And then I would just explode.
Shizuka your beauty and cuteness is timeless i wish you are my gf or wife.
You are such a beautiful man.
