Nice comparison Matthew of the AC & DC pumps. Both Sicce & the Vectra are very good quality pumps. Quiet and efficient at the same time. I personally run my systems with the Vectras and have had no issues.
Cant wait to try out my COR 20 pump i won from u guys at BRS!!! 🙌 I will say i have been using mag pumps for over 15 years and they are reliable as heck. Just super noisy
There's some misinformation here, at least from my knowledge. 1) AC pumps are actually more efficient. The problem is that they only have one speed usually. Many variable speed AC pumps simply block water flow instead of slowing the motor down. However that has been changing. 2) There are now controllable AC pumps. I know because I have one. It has 20 different speed settings. 3) AC pumps can handle more head pressure which is beneficial in a reef tank environment 4) DC pumps are definitely less reliable, at least it seems that way. Some vendors have reported insane failure rates before two years.
@@OriginalMindTrick not sure exactly on the brands. Essentially every cheap ac pump I've bought on Amazon works this way. There are controllable AC pumps obviously as that's what my post is about but there's tons of cheaper pumps that work that way surprisingly
Yeah i have the 8 for my return and 6 for my skimmer and mixing station. I actually live 30 minutes from CoralVue. They have a new facility and massive reef tank and fish room. Amazing what they are doing with the Hydros.
Is it just me or are all of these new sound effects and whatnot just so distracting? Maybe they're more appealing to new reefers and I'm just not the target audience. It feels like they recently hired a professional video editor who is trying too hard to justify their position. Less is more, let us focus on the information.
The features on the Sicce are just awesome - temperature - notifications / alerts and fully programmable.

Thumbs up to give this guy a raise! @BRS

Are still using the COR 20?…and what are your thoughts on it?
U good boy Matthew 🐶🥰
i run an aio innovative marine 336gph in my red sea 60gallon just fine.
I need a dc pump for my aio waterbox 50.3 and I was wondering if that pump would work. Is it quiet ?
can you tell what dc pump to use for tropical tank of 500 liters with sump?
My Sicce Syncra Silent SDC 9 is really loud. Not sure why. It is only running at 29%.

What AC pumps block water instead of slowing the impeller down?
@@OriginalMindTrick any cheap ac pump
@@racingbeats1493 What brands?

@@OriginalMindTrick I searched "aquarium pump" on Amazon just now and my first 6 results all control flow by just simply blocking the intake.
Is it true that DC pumps run cooler than AC?
The biggest question is Red Sea or Waterbox
@Robert Red Sea G2 hands down.
octo
No Wi Fi app or controller app
Varios pumps. Enough said.

I love the effects! :-). I think content with some fun effects is the best!
Hey man. They got products to sell. So just shut up and stop complaining and get out your credit card.
Completely unrelated but go off.
Choose the Right Saltwater Tank DC Pump the First Time!......... NO it is an ad for the vectra. Come on guys.🤡
Urrgh, those Vectras are trash. Been through 2 of them in the past 3 years. Rubbish!
Red Dragon for quality, Jebao MDC if you want something relatively reliable, quiet, and cheap.
