As I understand it from my own research, peptides and copper peptides also should not be used in the same routine with ascorbic acid. Copper & l-aa counteract each other, and peptides don't work in low acid environments -- so no C or BHA/AHA (unless the peptide product is specifically formulated to work with them.)

Yes, I fully agree!! My little sister is just getting into her teen years and the only person who's a certified derm I can find for anywhere around teen years is Dr. Dray... And she really only gets as close as 20's... With that being said, she is still great for it and also goes into places like Walmart, target, Sam's, and walgreens too so the products are pretty relatively cheap.
Ce férulic from Skinceuticals is THE ONLY product I buy repeatedly from the brand as it is absolutely AMAZING! I would literally give up on my daily coffee if I had to in order to buy this product. It is worth splurging on as it has helped brighten my skin after 3 yrs of everyday use and my hyper pigmentation has faded too. This is one holy grail product I will never ever give up. I’m from south east Asia this dr. Sam you are the best!
I used to use the C serum from Mad Hippie for years. But I developed an intolerance to it. After doing some research, I purchased the Timeless 10% C serum with E and ferulic acid, which I started today. I waited to resume using a C serum until after I healed my skin barrier (or mostly healed it). I’m experiencing minor irritation from it, so I’ll try every other day until I can tolerate it easily.
As someone with combination skin, finding the right Vit C serum was important for me. I started using liettlextra riceberry vitamin c face serum about three months back, and I'm happy with the results. The serum's thin, watery consistency makes it easy to apply and it quickly absorbs without leaving any greasy residue. Within just a month, I noticed a significant improvement in my skin's texture and overall glow. What sets this serum apart is its premium quality-it feels luxurious and is clearly made with effective ingredients. I apply it post-cleansing in the morning, and it mixes well with my sunscreen and makeup. I also use retinoids at night, and together, they've transformed my skincare routine. I can confidently say this serum has become essential in my daily regimen. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to achieve a radiant and even complexion!
After 15 days of use, Rice Berry Serum is quite effective for brightening my skin and fading dark spots. Its light, non-greasy formula absorbs quickly, leaving skin radiant and smooth.

I still don't know why vitamin C gets so much hype. Since it's not a drug, I'm a lil bit suspicious about its claims. It seems too good to be true. Since the claims are very similar to retinoid's, I find that Vitamin c is unnecessary for me. Since I am acne prone skin, tretinoin, azelaic acid, benzoyl peroxide and Glycolic acid are enough for my skin.

I've been using this Olay VitC+Peptide24 brigtening serum for 2-3 wks now and I love it. I understand it has 3-0-ethyl ascorbic acid, which is gentler. My question is ..., is it supposed to be of milky color/consistency? I understnad that L-ascorbic is clear to yellowish in good form. I also understand that it's very unstable and can oxidize into orange/brown color (which is useless at this point) fast but with 3-0-ethyl ascorbic acid, i can't tell if ive ruined my product or not.
It's not proven to be as effective, the C E ferulic is a lot more evidence based, Silymarin CF adn Phloretin CF are also amazing, the skinceuticals vitamin c serums are better because they are tested and proven to work and get into the skin, with other brands it is a gamble

A lot of people really seem to love it. Timeless and Geek & Gorgeous C-Glow seem to be the most loved dupes for the Skinceuticles, at least within the skincare groups I'm in.
I started with Maelove and loved it! I saw big improvements with my perimenopause skin BUT it always went bad within 3 months. I switched to Timeless about 6 months ago and like it equally as well AND it comes in a pump, so it doesn’t turn yellow as quickly. 6 months and I’m on the same bottle. I wear it 2x/day.
Hello Dr Sam. Can I apply Tranexamic acid at night followed by a night moisturizer? I'm skeptical about layering Vitamin C with Tranexamic acid before moisturizer and sunscreen in the morning. Thank you, Dr for any reply.
Hello 😀 I'm using a vitamin c in powder form and mix it with my moisture. It's says it can be mixed with niacinamide serum or moisture. But if I use it with serum I end up using double the amount of serum to mix. Which is the best way to get full benefits of the vitamin c please Really enjoy your talks thanks so much
If you skip washing your face is the morning (and moisturized the night before), is it pointless to apply vitamin C in the morning? I typically wash my face in the morning but sometimes in the winter I’d rather not, but I also want to make sure my vitamin C application will be effective.
Really helpful, I was specifically wondering if I could use around my eyes, now I won’t be afraid to try my new c e ferulic serum on my crow’s feet. I hope it helps! Thank you!
I use the silymarin cf though it can feel a little tacky which is kinda annoying, I prefer the texture of the phloretin cf but i have acne so silymarin cf is better for me and isn't as glowy, i just wish they didn't include the 0.5% salicylic acid lol because i suspect that's what makes it feel a little tacky
Do you find Phloretin C F to make your skin glowy? That's what I'm experiencing...That's why my dermatologist recommend it opposed to C E Ferulic formulation...but it has the same effect on me... I thought it was because the Vitamin E that was causing the shine
Dr Sam you talk about free radicals and oxidation you also mention to close your bottle of vitamin c serum tightly to avoid oxidation, so what do you think will happen when you apply vitamin c topically? It's going to oxidise causing premature aging! I do not recommend using vitamin c topically only use it orally.

Skinceuticals c e ferulic is really too expensive, is the Timeless serum also good?
I started with Maelove and loved it! I saw big improvements with my perimenopause skin BUT it always went bad within 3 months. I switched to Timeless about 6 months ago and like it equally as well AND it comes in a pump, so it doesn’t turn yellow as quickly. 6 months and I’m on the same bottle. I wear it 2x/day.
Can this be refrigerated to prolong its shelf life?
can you use l-ascorbic VC at the same time with a peptide serum that has Copper Tripeptide-1, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8?
I think thats a no
Can vitamin C cause purging?
Would you use clindamacin or vitamin c first?
How about vitamin E

Does Vit C ever come brown? Because I bought mine today and the liquid was brown when I opened it
Hello Dr Sam, thank you for the video. How soon after applying the vitamin C can you apply the azelaic acid ?
Same question
Yes, good question!
As soon its patted in, azelaic acid is good to go to my knowledge. I have been applying such way with no issue.
I just wait until it’s fully dry. Maybe 5-10 minutes.
Can you apply it and sleep without using any body lotion
Great to hear all this info and about the old study and that vit c and niacinamide is fine to use together. I learn so much from your videos :-)
Which is the best way to get full benefits of the vitamin c please
Really enjoy your talks thanks so much
If you skip washing your face is the morning (and moisturized the night before), is it pointless to apply vitamin C in the morning? I typically wash my face in the morning but sometimes in the winter I’d rather not, but I also want to make sure my vitamin C application will be effective.
Why do we have to tap it on. Can’t we just lightly rub it on?😊
Using tretinoin for 1 and half month at night and start vitamin c in morning today..... let's see what's it brings🤞
What is that popping noise ? And glass clanking ..
Can you use vitamin c if using a wash off benzoyl peroxide?
I'm confused about the PH, Vit C has a low PH (3-4) bit cleanser are around PH 5 so how do you get you PH around 3 so the vit c is working properly?
Hi Dr Sam. Does vitamin C around the eyes, make the skin their dry and thinner?
Can I use vitamin c serum on my hands?
I do not recommend using vitamin c topically only use it orally.
is there any side effect of prolonged use of vitamin c?
Brilliant video. Are you from N Ireland? Anyrecomendations for tiny black heads on fine, sensitive young skin? Thanks ❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕❤️💕
Can you layer BHA 2%(paulas choice) then the vitamin c?
THANK YOU
Would this be ok for someone with rosacea? Tia x
I too wanted to know!
I have rosacea and I use Proheal advanced serum. Expensive but amazing.
@@Veronica-tn2xc ty so much!! Mine is quite vein-y looking. Do you think it would help with this? Xx
@@Steph...... I have the same issue and it's very gentle. Skinceuticals is kind of aggresive for my skin. Proheal is expensive but amazing. I'm 52 and only 2 wrinkles. Hugs.
@@Veronica-tn2xc Thank you so much!! I think I'm late to the game.. 45 and had it for years but when I initially approached my doctor for advice, they said cover up make up.. 😂
How about WHOLE FOODS VITAMIN C INSTEAD OF LAB ASCORBIC ACID.?
You mean digesting it? When it was digested, it will just go in your immune system pool. It will not go to your body/face. However eating more vegetables and fruits will give you a healthy , baby, and radiant skin. It will manifest in the long run.
Hi i wrap my vit c dropper with duck tape so no light gets in. Also when i open it i put something over it to help keep air out.
I just came across your video! It’s wonderful, I just purchased my first bottle of SkinCeuticals vitamin C E Ferulic serum, I wanted to know in which step of the morning skin care routine should I apply this product? So I use La Mer and I’ve been using it for about nine years now and I wanted a vitamin C to add to my routine.
So my daily ritual is that I cleanse my face, I exfoliate my face only twice a week, then I use the La Mer treatment lotion Follow by the La Mer serum then I apply the new La Mer hydrating infused emulsion serum and after that I apply my crème de La Mer cream and sunscreen. It would be very helpful if you can let me know on which step I should use my vitamin C serum? Thank you and have a lovely day.
would you recommend affordable vitamin c serums? How about VIchy ampoules?
I’m 15 and I started using it yesterday, is it good for me ?
