One Seven Compressed Air Foam - Field Report 1

Bregenz-Rieden fire brigade (Austria) has successfully used One Seven compressed air foam for many years. In this video Commander Walter Höfle reports on a truck fire in the tunnel “Pfänder Tunnel”.
Tunnel fires are particularly dangerous. High fire dynamics combined with limited evacuation possibilities make fast, effective firefighting inevitable. The Bregenz-Rieden fire brigade is responsible for firefighting in several road tunnels. For many years this fire brigade relies on compressed air foam systems and special compressed air foam made by Schmitz One Seven.
With One Seven compressed air foam various solid materials or liquids can be extinguished effectively. In addition the tunnel structure is protected from heat damage by an exceptionally high adhesion of the One Seven compressed air foam to walls and ceilings.
During the production of One Seven compressed air foam much less water is used than with other extinguishing methods. This extends the operating time of the fire engines significantly - a criterion that can be decisive, especially in environments that are difficult to access, such as tunnel fires.
