a lot of pro artist use greasepencil and blender on daily basis. I would say half of the artist shown in this reel are people working in games/films/animation industry.

Grease Pencil is the better toy / tool I could put my hands on.
I remember the time I used to draw in one software, edit the film in another, make the pos production in another software, produce the 3D in a diferent tool ... It was a marathon.
And the worst thing was when something had to be modified. A lot of re renders to update everything.
Now it´s in one place and in REAL TIME folks 😍😍😍😍😍😍!

Grease Pencil is awesome! I can recommend it to anyone!
You can use it in ANY phase of your production!
Also the fact that you can draw in 3D space helps you A LOT with your projects 🥰

@@mr2meows Even if it's not in 2d you still need to carefully consider perspective, framing and layouts are important if you want to produce something decent
Is there a good tutorials series showing beginners how to use it? I really want to learn but it's hard lol
I love the fact that the Blender community is at a point where you know a good majority of the people who's work is displayed here have learned or taught their techniques in some form or another, and yet it all has completely different feel and direction. Great work everyone!
And you can imagine all of this from an open source software ! Definition of greatness simply 👍
Thank you Blender team for making practically an all in one free software for creatives, professionals, hobbyists, freelancers, animators, artists, 3D builders, modelers, riggers, editors, etc. young, old, literally everyone!!! All it’s missing is audio recording, creating and editing, like something that’s a cross between Garage Band and Audacity! Not that Blender is any less awesome due to not having that, and those two programs are already free anyway.
Plus, it’s compatible with other software and add-ons to expand the already infinite possibilities of this software!
(I have a really good 2D animation app called Calipeg and I’m able to export my projects as a file that, after installing an add-on in Blender, imports that project into the Blender software!!! And combined with the already powerful Grease Pencil, the artistic creativity is even more infinite than infinity itself!!!) I’m just insanely thankful for you guys!!!

The way this tool is being developed to be as universal as possible and usable by both studios and indipendent users is so fascinating and one of its kind!
3/4 of those projects look so amazing that I would love to see interviews with those artists and crews and learn what the projects are about. Those are some really incredible artworks!

Thank you blender foundation and all the volunteer coders for keeping all these cool new features free and open. It really benefits us all with better creative content from people of all backgrounds, and not just the studios flush with cash.

This gives me the same vibes I got when I first watched Final Fantasy: Spirits Within, which got me into 3D in the first place.

This is great! I really hope more and more ppl will start to use GP and Blender as their main 2d animation tool. It gives so many oportunities and opens up so many new ways of thinking about hand drawn animation. I just only wish that GP could cast shadows. Anyway, right now I can't imagine going back to any other 2d software. Oh! And thanks for featuring me! Godspeed devs! You rock!

Netflix should have chosen a grease pencil aesthetic for their anime cg animation style, the example they have in the showcase looks leagues ahead of the odd looking 2d/3d combo cg they ended up implementing

This is one of the best tools in modern animation. It combines strengths of 2D and 3D together. Blender keeps impressing me. I still can't believe it is free. It is so versatile.

Grease pencil will stay underrated as long as there are no official tutorials on how to actually make what's in these reels.
The creator of grease pencil dose tutorials on his TH-cam channel so that's pretty official to me as well as the fact many studios have adopted grease pencil for various uses

Grease pencil will solve perspective,depth and background consistency issues that's just too much power
So nice to see a reel of all these different projects together, and many I haven't seen yet myself either. It's such a fun side of Blender and I'm glad I've stuck to learning after it became a bigger thing after 2.8 - it's just really fun to use! Really looking forward to what else people will make with it next! :)

Wow! I didn't expect this! Blender is killing it and they say it's not industry level. Why? its not?
No, because you get something amazing for free, instead of absolute shit at an unreasonably priced subscription payment.
Blender is good but it isnt the best at something specific. Besides, paid softwares have professional support. Also, you may need to use a lot of addons in order to get blender at its fullest potential, and there the possibility that those addons cant coexist.
