- We asked our Mexican dads to try different Thai food! 🇹🇭💚
There's so many different Thai dishes, which should they try next?
We asked our Mexican dads ti taste test and try different Thai dishes! They tried all sorts of dishes like pad Thai, Tom kha kai, red curry, laab gai, papaya salad, som tam, mango sticky rice! What will our Mexican papahs think?! Have you ever tried Thai food before? What Thai dishes should the moms try next?

The way they describe Pad Kra Prao tells me Mexican and Thais despite being oceans apart share the same culinary soul. Pad Kra Prao is the quintessential Thai soul food. Every Thai person has a preferred combo we perfected growing up, and it just tastes like home.
Yup! I grew up eating this breakfast lunch and dinner lol. It’s perfect. One of them even mentioned it’s perfect morning afternoon and evening too.
I didn't realise it's viewed as the quintessential Thai soul food. It makes perfect sense, though, because it's just such a perfect, complete dish, and is always my go-to because it never disappoints (well, unless they've de-spiced it because they think the white guy won't like the spice, lol). My other favourite is the Som Tum, because OMG that is the best salad ever invented (except when there's too many salted shrimp and/or fish sauce, because I haven't grown up with those flavours and sometimes I find them a tad overpowering).
LOL they TOTALLY understood the concept of the combination, even the egg on top (A MUST!)
& laab as a "chicken ceviche" LOL
i never got it that way in thailand tho bell peppers?
I've never seen it with peppers though?
I think Mexican and Thai has some similarities to each other. As Thai people I'm so proud that they like our dish. 🥹
I'm sorry but that pad thai didn't look good at all
@@notslav6053it’s missing a lot of ingredients
@@Leo2wavvy-y But why? Egg, peanuts, and chives aren't difficult to get
@@notslav6053 'What you want to know from me? Is not Pad Thai.'
Its all about the sauce. Find another good place. even in thailand, not every padthai is good lol@@notslav6053
These guys are a vibe.. they are extremely open minded and aren’t looking to trash anyone’s food. And the descriptions they give proves they really do like what they are eating
You know what, Pad Thai is the basic Thai food for foreigners, but the basic Thai food for Thais is Pad Ka Prao
If the flight to Bangkok wasn't so expensive, I'd be there tomorrow. Love Thai food.
100000%, my white American ex tried to argue with me when I told him this hahahaha
I think som tam is far more popular. Even at 2am I can still order different kinds of it.
@@notslav6053 I mean basic food (Maybe the words I used confused you), not popular food. When Thais are in a restaurant or cafeteria in Thailand and are not sure what to eat, they usually immediately choose Pad Kaprao. The most popular food among Thais is Moo Krata (For Thai Muslims is Gai Krata). Som Tum is 2nd.
Agreed
As a person who grew up in a Mexican household and now has a Thai wife, a lot of our culinary soul/culture is surprisingly similiar. It seemed like just about all my favorite homemade dishes had a Thai equivalent that my wife ate growing up. Experiencing that in Thailand really gave me a shock and was something my wife and I bonded over.
I think Thai food can be more spicer than Mexican because they love a lot of chilies. Also, some of their dishes use fermented fish, which is funky smell, stronger smelling than fish sauce.
Don't think we didn't notice Vicente wasn't here! lol.
As a Thai-American who grew up in SoCal, SFV specifically, it's funny to realize how many similar ingredients we use in Thai cuisine / Mexican cuisine! Just the applications are slightly different! Like culinary besties!
Yeah they should try how we eat green mangos hahaha Mexicans add spicy + sour to sweet fruits and Thai people add spicy + sweet to sour fruits
I believe that you already know that Portugal and Holland were the very first countries we traded with back in the Ayuthaya era. so I'm not surprised that we share a similar recipe and ingredients to the Spanish food.
*fishsauce*
@@evakeeslar1766the sweet-sour-spicy trifecta unites us
@@jatuphongwingwan8724 Thai food and Spanish food have very little in common though lol
Tiberio is so cool. I love in these videos that he seemingly has already tried all of these wonderful cuisines and is still as stoked as if it was his first time.
I'm just a little sad that Arturo and Tiberio haven't popped off a curse though. It's so funny. XD but when they are being serious about their food, you know you are going to get a REAL review on food.
@@alucardfreak1800 totally!
Welcome Paco to the Papah Family 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Yes, a warm welcome to our newest papah, Paco 💚
@@PapahChannelwhat happened to the other guy? Did he quit?
The fact that he perfectly describes Pad Krapao as a very complete dish is correct. In Thailand, some people would have this every day for breakfast or lunch. Its got the meat, the vegetables and the star egg, a little bit of spice and nice aroma. To top it all off, its cheap and easy to make. It is indeed a very complete dish.
I would love to invite all the dads to have Thai food here in Thailand. They would enjoy it 10 times more! 😆☺️
Tiberio is a man of culture. He always has had what they are trying and says of course to let you know. A true legend.
Thai food is by far one of my favorite foods. I’m glad they got to try some of them.
So good so goog soooo good!
@@PapahChannelGOOG?!??!?@
Yes! They’re good is fire and it hits a lot of the same notes as mexican food does. Spice, lime and cilantro (coriander).
🙌🏻🙌🏻💯😋😋😋 one of my favorite foods!!! Y que chille😋
as a Dutch man living in Berlin Germany, looking at Mexican dads trying Thai food gave me the biggest satisfaction. I am so happy the dad swho tried the food for the first time liked it so much. I love these videos. the dads are awesome
“Esta tierno, como yo”.🤣 I love him so much. He always has the jokes.❤️
Papahs pallatte is global and im all here for it! Please consider colombian, Italian or japanese dishesh next! Love all of them!
Hell yea Takoyaki mmm.
Sooo good, but I'm a little sad to hear the "not spicy" comments. Thai, Lao, and Indonesian food can be spicy af. If done right, even mild level is enough to throw off casual spice fans. Definitely order medium spice at least for them 😂😂
yeah I was especially a bit disappointed to hear the papaya salad was not spicy, I think that dish is traditionally pretty spicy right? oh well at least they enjoyed everything :)
You can tell it's very Westernised Thai... but agreed, these cuisines should all be super spicy. Still nice seeing their reactions
@@colkiwi yup, papaya salad is suppose to have a big kick of spiciness. Shame this one didn't have it bc Lao and Thai people definitely wouldn't like it if it wasn't spicy enough. Perhaps the producers were trying to play it safe.
They probably have American-based levels of spiciness while Mexican food is at the same level of traditional Thai food. So that's why it wasn't spicy
One of my favorite restaurants here in Wisconsin is a Hmong restaurant. The family that runs it was in a refugee camp in Thailand after fleeing Laos before coming to the States. They offer papaya salad either Lao or Thai style. I always get the Thai style. However even though it’s a restaurant in the Upper Midwest, both styles have a healthy dose of spice. Of course I’m pretty sure it’s still on the mild side.
Great, now I want papaya salad and that restaurant is an hour from my house.
Glad they love the foods. Btw the dishes in this video were mostly adapted version, which is understandable. Hope they could enjoy some of the authentic ones. There're gonna be huge differences in some dishes.
Especially, the som tum. The Dads said that it is not spicy; they got to try the real som tum with the black crabs. 🌶🌶🌶😋😋😋
Thai cuisine and Mexican cuisine are similar, I love Mexican food as a Thai and so happy they are happy with our food!
Love these guys, they understand that mexican food and asian food are vastly different from each other and they dont try to compare the both, they enjoy both respectively
Heyyyy!!! It’s a new Papah!!
new papah alert! 🤪🤗
I'm so glad they like them! Many thais like mexican food too, we speak the same flavour language, never had to refer to a dish with only one chilli as spicy with you guys✨
Idk why but just seeing the mamah & papah videos are so good & every papas are so unique & funny which makes this channel good.
Id love too see some of the mamah’s husbands trying food like chucky ( Xóchitl’s husband that she talked about in the Halloween candy episode) & Lucy’s husband too!!!
Weird how Tiberia, who seems the most "from old country" out of these dads, has tried most of foreign cuisines before this channel, while Arturo, the most American/English-speaking of them, has experienced the least cuisines.
Not weird at all. That's actually on point
1:40
he KNEW
I guess you are equating being American and speaking English with sophistication. It’s actually not surprising that somebody straight from Mexico would be a little more cosmopolitan than somebody from the United States. Americans typically travel less than everybody else. This makes them experience less stuff. If he straight from Mexico, chances are, he is a lot more well traveled and has come in contact with more cultures. He doesn’t sound like he’s from the countryside. His accent sounds like he’s from the city.
Request: Dads try japaneese food
I think they are going to very soon
Hell yeah this would be awesome
Same I hope they can try the cuisine of my heritage!!!
Sushi
Yes and go way beyond sushi!
Not only the food I’ve found Thai and Mexican people have very similar personalities. They are kind, caring, funny and pretty generous!
I want to see these Mexican dads try german food. ❤
What German dishes would you like to see them try?😋
@@PapahChannelSchnitzel, Sauerkraut with Bratwurst, Rinderroulade, and stollen, are just a few that come to mind.
@@PapahChannel pretzel bread and schnitzel come to mind. They're my favorite. 😋❤
@@PapahChannel Rouladen for me. The dads deserve this joy!
@PaPahChannel Rotkohl, scheiwhaxen, knackwurst, knodel, rouladen, spartzle
The way the three of them are able to analyze each dish shows that they eat well. These men know good food, and can tell when something is good. Really fun video.
as a thai man in the US. No lie, I was ready for the smoke!. Tbh I'm so glad the tios like the Thai dishes! I've always thought that Mexican and Thai cuisine are pretty close, flavor-wise. So glad they enjoy it!
I love this series, it's great seeing the dad's try different cuisines but living in Thailand, if you serve a papaya salad without heat / chilli, they will send it back. I've had some salads (and laab) that were the spiciest things I've ever tasted.
i'm guessing they wanted to ease the dads in because i was asking where's the chilli in most of the dishes
@@kimmmmmy649 yes, I think you are right and rightly so. Thai food is some of the best in the world.
Love Thai food! Tofu pad Thai medium spicy, basil spring rolls, steamed bao buns- all of it is yummy!
Tiberio reminds me so much of my grandfather it's ridiculous. RIP ABUELITO!!!
These guys are so descriptive with their tastes that I think they have some experience in cooking. Now I want to see them do an episode of tasting Guga steaks.
I wants to see Dads try Southern BBQ
Love how sweet these guys are, you could just tell they're all fantastic fathers
In general i love food from everywhere that cooks with tamarind. Mexican and Thai food are definitely on that list.
I think they would enjoy trying different Hawaiian food! Moco loco, combo plate, musubi, garlic shrimp 👌
I think they would like it too. I hope they don’t let them read the name of moco loco first though. In Spanish, it means crazy booger or crazy snot. No lie.
New dad!
As a Thai person who has always lived on Thai soil. I would like to thank you very much to this TH-cam channel for helping to bring Thai food to the world to know more about. I would like to say that this is just one of the hundreds of dishes that Thai people eat. In addition to Thai food Many Western food menus Thai people can adapt it to create new flavors and add many more dishes. For example, “Grilled T-bone steak with spicy dip,” “Stir-fried spaghetti with tom yum goong,” “Spaghetti with sausage and pork larb,” “Pizza with basil,” “Lab salmon,” etc. There are also many delicious foods and various kinds of fruits for foreign friends. Let's try to taste it. We invite everyone to come and experience delicious food in Thailand. Welcome everyone.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
this was such a good idea because I always felt like mexican and Thai kitchen use very similar flavours and herbs

I have to say that everything about the production of this video looks great. The camera quality is great as well as the different angles. It is subtle but it helps keeping you engaged. The content is so interesting and fun to watch but it is just enhanced to the next level. Great Job!!!
The moms and dad need their own show. These are too short. These people are awesome so humble never disrespectful to anything they eat. ❤
Mannn this is such a fascinating channel. It's usually Americans trying foreign stuff or foreigners trying American food on TH-cam. But this channel, man I can't stop watching y'all. Your appreciation for and your curiosity to new food as astounding and I love that people watch these and become interested too.
I enjoy watching the Mexican Dads try new cuisines. I learned about Thai at my Midwest college and later studying in Southeast Asia. It is interesting to see how West Coast Mexican American and Mexican dads think of the cuisine.
By the way, Mexican food is in my top three with Chinese and Indian. I love chocolate mole, lingua tacos, and fresh corn masa shells.
Every once in a while I binge some food videos on YT, usually one ethnicity of people/moms trying the other's versions of traditional dishes. These guys are my favorites so far! I love the way that they describe the dishes and the tastes, and they are so respectful! It's making me hungry and I just ate! Why am I enjoying watching people eat so much?! LOL
I love cooking and thai stuff is next level. That whole region has some truly incredible dishes.
@Tiberios description of the mango cracked me up! “Tierno…como yo” 🤣👏🏼
Thai fan here 😊 Thank you for bringing out all these foods 😊
Welcome the new papah!! hope to see him more often !
I'm glad when seeing your reaction and like Thai food. Thank you.👍😁🇹🇭

I’m so happy to hear that you’re like Thai food. I’m a chef from Thailand
Finally...sitting at home in Thailand watching.and I am so happy they loved Isaan food(som tum and sticky rice).
Greetings from Isaan Thailand
Hello from Thailand! I love how you enjoy our food! And I enjoy your food too!
my favorite is tequila..
Yalll gotta get them both a spoon and fork lol thank you trying Thai food!
The thai dishes are very well balanced. They have sweet and savory at the same time, you have spice as well with creamy. It's flavorful without being extreme in any direction. And just having so many vegetables as a star of the flavor is amazing, instead of having the meat or the carb being center.
I’m smiling the whole video!
Missing Vicente 😢 . Welcome new Papah ❤. Tiberdo is funny 😄 Arturo looks like that cool strict papah 😎
On Point comment
The new dad is already my fav!!😼
Thai food is the best food!!!! I love it 🙂
Omg sooo good we agree!
As a Thai, I recommend you to add Gai Yang (grilled chicken) to Som Tam combination. It’s the best meal in Isaan!
Yes!
need to try thai with chili!! theyd love it so much more
Love Thai food ❤ the Tom kah soup is so good I need to try other Platos mmm yummz
Spicy pad Thai with shrimp with lime squeeze over🤤
Putting bell peppers in Pad Kra Pao is kind of a cop-out. Mexican dads can handle bird's-eye chilli
yeah the bird eye chills are essential, not only because of their spice but also because of their unique fragrance they add.
They should seriously try Jamaican food - spicy!
I think Thai food and Mexican food fused would be amazing
10 thumbs up. The only channel I've ever seen serve pad kra pao and tom kha gai during a thai food reaction.
Habemus Nuevo Papah!!!. Bienvenido Paco. My favorite guy. Describe muy bien la comida. !!!Tengo hambre!!!
I just saw this video. I love this series! I just want to say, the larb gai is meant to be eaten with sticky rice. It's so good!
new papah!! welcome paco 😊
5:48 there’s a fresh shrimp dish that’s the Thai parallel evolution of ceviche. Larb is in a similar ballpark of seasoning but it typically seasoning for cooked meat, most commonly pork and chicken.
Happy you like Thai food. ❤ I think we thai and Mexico like spicy.
I m thai but live in spain España . I do love quesadillas, Nachos , burritos you name it !!
Pad that is fantastic 🤤🤤🤤🤤❤️❤️❤️❤️
sticky rice and papaya salad is as authentic as you can get 👍🏼
I love the reaction that I've seen, all is good that Latino and Thai have a lot in common imo. One thing I would like to point out is that : "Pad kra pow" is normally cooked with Thai holy basil (this one is essential due to its unique smell), Protein of your choice, Minced bird eye chilli, Garlic. and your could topped that off with Sunny sided up egg. While adding bell pepper or green bean is not frowned upon but it's not normally seen in most of the restaurant (Also feel free to correct me if i'm wrong). Anyway love your video.
Most times I've had it in Thailand it included Thai long bean, but yes I've never seen any other vegetables in it.
@@cZerHD Even Thai was complaining like, this is Pad Kra pow. Why the heck is there a long bean in this? XD XD
