      @@jaxter2635doesn’t matter what McLaren did or didn’t do. It matters what Lewis did to put himself in the position. They messed up and he was in the position to win. Except Lewis used strategy to win, choosing the right tires at the right time and managing them as such.

      - All the pundits consider McLaren to be the best car for the past 5 weeks.
      - Lewis outperformed Norris twice, both in the above-mentioned laps 35-37 and after the second round of pit stops when they had the same tires. So there's no luck involved, he out performed Lando on a weaker car.
      - McLaren ruined Piastri's race, no argument there, however it's once again a strategic call by the team, no luck involved on Lewis' part.

    Seeing inside story you see how drivers like Lewis and Max are simply on another level compared to the rest of the grid...
    Their sheer mental capacity to think 5-10 laps ahead while driving at nearly 200mph in such tricky conditions is why they've dominated the sport. As wonderful as drivers like Norris, Leclerc, and Russell are, I never see them being so strategic and mentally acute in races... Sainz has his moments of such brilliance but I feel Piastri is getting this better than Norris at Mclaren.

      I'll be 60 this year. My eldest brother wanted to be as Lewis is, before he was born but couldn't even get sponsorship to stay in carts. Seeing Lewis do his stuff reminds me of when he used to drive, and talk about how a Formula driver FEELS the track through the car. Lewis did that today. No other driver combines racecraft, speed of thought, strategy and sheer driving ability as consistently as Lewis over the 17 seasons he's been in F1 and he is loved and hated for this very same reason.
      If Hamilton has a competitive car, he will be a contender in any race. I'm glad this presentation brings to the fore, Hamilton's range of skills for all to see, plus how the other drivers take their cue from his instinctive choices.

    This race will be another great lesson for Lando, Oscar, and the McLaren team. Lando will need to take an even further step in terms of commanding his race- something drivers who’ve taken that step from race winner, to champion has done. Oscar will need to learn when to say he can’t do any more, I feel like right now he’s trying to show his team he can do anything they need for him- whether it’s stay out on track, defend position, etc. which is something a lot of young drivers do. The McLaren team as a whole hasn’t been in a race winning position such as this in a while- they will need to learn how to manage these drivers to set them up for wins. They’ve given them the car, now they need to give them the direction needed for all teams who want to become champions.
    Exceptional race by Lewis and the Mercedes team. In this race, I feel they outclassed McLaren on both a driver experience and therefore skill front, as well as a team management front for every single lap.

      @DetectiveTrupo203 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Communication between the engineers and the drivers is constant, so the messages that they broadcast during the race is a very small percentage of everything that's being said.

    • @de_aquila
      @de_aquila หลายเดือนก่อน +41

      It appears they have to talk a lot which is totally normal. But I have the feeling that unlike Bono-Lewis and GP-Max that sometimes tell their drivers, "this is what we think" or "given all the data at hand, this is better for you", Lando's engineer asks Lando's opinion quite a lot.
