Seeing inside story you see how drivers like Lewis and Max are simply on another level compared to the rest of the grid... Their sheer mental capacity to think 5-10 laps ahead while driving at nearly 200mph in such tricky conditions is why they've dominated the sport. As wonderful as drivers like Norris, Leclerc, and Russell are, I never see them being so strategic and mentally acute in races... Sainz has his moments of such brilliance but I feel Piastri is getting this better than Norris at Mclaren.
Max and Lewis are the two best wet-weather drivers on the grid and they definitely both know that, so I imagine one of them hearing that the other is boxing carries a lot of weight.
The way he preserved his soft tyres for 14 laps compared to Lando say it all, even with new hards Max could barely close the gap to Lewis while he passed Lando like he wasn't even there!

Throughout all my years in school, university, and now my working life, the biggest lesson you've taught me is to never give up, no matter how bad the adversity is! I'll be 60 this year. My eldest brother wanted to be as Lewis is, before he was born but couldn't even get sponsorship to stay in carts. Seeing Lewis do his stuff reminds me of when he used to drive, and talk about how a Formula driver FEELS the track through the car. Lewis did that today. No other driver combines racecraft, speed of thought, strategy and sheer driving ability as consistently as Lewis over the 17 seasons he's been in F1 and he is loved and hated for this very same reason. If Hamilton has a competitive car, he will be a contender in any race. I'm glad this presentation brings to the fore, Hamilton's range of skills for all to see, plus how the other drivers take their cue from his instinctive choices.

It's crazy to see how hesitant McLaren was with the fastest cars while Merc and Redbull were cruising and made the right calls. I love these radio messages so much, Lambiase and Bono have really soothing voices
@zippo5294 You could the anxiety with the McLarens were as the team radio messages from Mercedes and Red Bull sounded like just another day in the office. McLaren definitely had the fastest cars however too much chatter and indecision blew up there race .
This race will be another great lesson for Lando, Oscar, and the McLaren team. Lando will need to take an even further step in terms of commanding his race- something drivers who’ve taken that step from race winner, to champion has done. Oscar will need to learn when to say he can’t do any more, I feel like right now he’s trying to show his team he can do anything they need for him- whether it’s stay out on track, defend position, etc. which is something a lot of young drivers do. The McLaren team as a whole hasn’t been in a race winning position such as this in a while- they will need to learn how to manage these drivers to set them up for wins. They’ve given them the car, now they need to give them the direction needed for all teams who want to become champions. Exceptional race by Lewis and the Mercedes team. In this race, I feel they outclassed McLaren on both a driver experience and therefore skill front, as well as a team management front for every single lap.

Communication between the engineers and the drivers is constant, so the messages that they broadcast during the race is a very small percentage of everything that's being said.
It appears they have to talk a lot which is totally normal. But I have the feeling that unlike Bono-Lewis and GP-Max that sometimes tell their drivers, "this is what we think" or "given all the data at hand, this is better for you", Lando's engineer asks Lando's opinion quite a lot.
i wouldn't say he talk too much cause all engineers have to inform their driver about what's going on, but he keeps saying unnecessary stuff and saying things while doing others like with tyres he already mentioned they had mediums but he didn't choose them and also the embarrassing thing he said about covering lewis or max

Just watched this whole clip and Hamilton is the only driver that made a fuss about the rain and the complained the least amount as well. He was actually more positive about the rain and a lot confident with his decisions, the other guys seemed like they were waiting for orders from the team whereas with Hamilton, he was in control of what will happen and when! best race ive seen since 2021. perfect combo of communication, strategy, a bit of luck and full of drama. epic win and performance by hamilton/mercedes.
Notice how Bono and GP relays clear info and short answers to their drivers, while Will constantly gives Lando long-winded and unnecessary info, and often times ask Lando questions on tire choices instead of relying on their data. No wonder they blew their chance of winning. Lando was playing half engineer, half driver that weekend.

This is a must for every LH fan. It is worth the wait for the king.
Notice how Bono and GP relays clear info and short answers to their drivers, while Will constantly gives Lando long-winded and unnecessary info, and often times ask Lando questions on tire choices instead of relying on their data.
No wonder they blew their chance of winning. Lando was playing half engineer, half driver that weekend.
They need to do this for every race, so exciting
