Not even close. The Burning is a solid movie, but it's kind of like Just Before Dawn or Wrong Turn...if feels more like an outdoor adventure than a slasher film...it just gets lumped in with horror because the bad guys are such freaks...Friday the 13th is the GENRE DEFINING slasher film...it ranks right along with Halloween...truly as great as anything of its' kind ever made...but more so, it is fully and completely a SLASHER movie....to its' core...There is no greater exemplar of the classic early 80's slasher film than Friday the 13th.
I respectfully disagree. Part 1 is slow and kinda boring and I’d say the original Halloween is a masterpiece next to FT 13th part 1. Part 2 is better imo. There is like 20 “slashers” I’d take over part 1 including the burning. But glad you love it. Enjoy. 😎

I haven’t watched the burning but I do like Friday the 13th, Jason is awesome! The acting isn’t amazing but I still enjoy the movies!
