  • Amazing to think that film photographers at one point could have picked up a camera and a few rolls of film along with a burger and fries at their local McDonald's. Today I did the unthinkable and shot my first roll of expired film. I had no idea how this old analog film was stored, but when I finally took a look at the images, it was pretty wild! One of the most special things about the hobby of film photography is the ability to use old, unique films such as this old McDonald's film. The surprise you get when you finally see the images come back is incredible. Who knew that Mcdonald's made photographic film.

    "Who would this camera be for? First and foremost, probably someone that's blind" 😂😂😂 Loved the video man, super entertaining as always!

    You solved a mystery I've had for a while. Concord made my Tyco Spy Tech camera I used when I was a kid.

    The focus in the mid-distance seems pretty good for such a camera. I'm presuming that you get OK results with fresh film.

    First time I’ve ever heard “sexy” and “lime green” used together. Lol. 😂

    Numbers are from the backing paper that protects the film..

    I don’t know why I laughed so hard at “magenta moldy mess” 😂 maybe it was the alliteration. Great video!

    I think it's cool how modern digital cameras adhere to old film negative sizes from the past. 110 film became the size for Micro 4/3, Advanced Photo System negatives became the APS-C cropped sensor and of course 35mm film frame is known as the full size sensored DSLRS and Mirrorless cameras.

    Oh -- fun fact -- the mirrorless Micro-Four-Thirds sensor is almost exactly the same size as a 110 negative....

      @@Overexposed1 already subbed and looking forward to it :) and it can be tough to find the balance but you obviously are motivated so it's always easy to be critical but you can only work so hard :)

      @@hedgemonkey6 Thank you for the kind words. Every once in a while, I just have to skip a week of uploading. Sometimes that's what it takes to get me back on track! Thanks for hanging around, friend!

    Ahhh the joy of expired film you win some and you lose some bearing in mind these cameras were ideally meant to be shot on a sunny day 110 is so small a negative it was horrible never ever wanted to shoot it I think you did pretty ok considering the limitations

    Was that Kentucky Blue Grass by any chance in the photos?

    • @Overexposed1
      @Overexposed1  ปีที่แล้ว

      All the grass you see in my videos is Kentucky blue grass. :) I doubt it was actually the proper species of grass, but it was certainly really green, and certainly in Kentucky

    The mottling and numbers are backing paper problems. 110 cameras were awful until disc cameras came along. Then they were not the worst. Kodachrome was actually available in 110. That film would have made some of the photos mostly acceptable.

    The underexposed appearance is due to the film´s age. A rule of thumb is to overexpose by 1 stop for every decade of storage. Of course that´s not possible to do on this elaborate McDonalds camera...😄

    The film is NOT Kodachrome, Sakura/Konica/Minolta, Lucky or USSR Svema/Tasma, but maybe Kodak, Fuji, really badly stored AGFA or 3M/Ferrania, while the numbers are on the film are from the backing to protect it from going bad and to know which expose is which. Too bad you did not have the negative with you because it might have revealed the company who made the film. You are lucky you got anything because 90% of 110 cartridges that old will only give you dead, blank results.
