You wanna know what’s funny? This was actually fixed in the mobile version developed by the same guys who did the definitive edition. Why they didn’t do it here is beyond me
This is why those cheetah cars are bulletproof, explosion proof and fireproof in this mission. I would recommend if you wanna complete the mission you can use the coach or rhino trick in your Portland safehouse to push the cheetah car inside your garage and wait for the mission to fail. You can take the car and can laugh at the Leones who blowed you up :)
Making an area impossible to visit because of overpowered shotguns kinda defeats the whole point of an open world free roaming game. At the same time it’s kinda realistic, I mean Claude killed Salvatore the leader of the most powerful mafia in the city so of course venturing into their territory will be a death trap
Fallout new Vegas does a better job of doing their open world; just talking about gameplay not story it would work better if the shotgun guys were in the beginning of the game and left mid way through the game
I think it's part of it's charm, open world sure, but this is the mafia's turf and you killed their leader. Pretty sure it makes a whole lot of sense as to why you're not suppose to just "hang around". Besides, there's little reason to go there after you've progressed to the second island, and after doing the jamaican missions even the diablos hate you the first island as a whole is a death trap for Claude, it would make little sense to let him just roam around freely.
Gta 3 is the worst gta game series in my opinion.I know the game is revolutionary in 2001 but Gta Vice City is a massive improvement from Gta 3 even just after 1 year later.Gta 3 has no map in the original, some of the missions are difficult without the map,and all of the gang will hate you after you complete the mission is annoying as hell and defeated the purpose of true open world game. I am so glad Rockstar fixed it in Gta San Andreas because you can take over their territory
One of the weirdest things about this problem is that the Leones actually get nerfed again if you do the Shoreside Vale Red Nine's mission, which you can re-do infinitely from the payphone there. It's the mission where you have to take the Cheetah/Infernus from Shoreside all the way to Portland and back without damaging it too much (or else it explodes.) The Leones either never attack you or only fire at you with Pistols and Uzis, not shotguns, at least in my experience. I have no idea why Rockstar decided to buff the Leones after their leader gets iced. edit - the rant at the end about how the Leones could wipe out every other gang in GTA history even if they allied together because of how OP their shotguns are had me in stitches 🤣
@fleshnbone187 Yes, you're correct! I got the subtle changes mixed up, which is probably because of the Espresso-2-Go stall you have to destroy is pretty close to the garage you need to bring the Infernus to for that Rigged to Blow mission.
Lmao, i was so terrified when i saw a guy with a shotgun when i was driving the Infernus. Also in the mission for King Courtney, where you steal other gang cars for him, i went to Saint Mark's to get a Mafia Sentinel and saw a guy with a Shotgun, immediately took a u-turn and drove away and some guys with pistol spawned and shot at me, but thankfully the shotgun guy didn't spawn. Guess i was lucky there.
@@arthurmorganhereThankfully, the Mafia Sentinel spawn in Salvatore's Mansion does not disappear after his death, so you can drive over to the beach and climb up the hill to his mansion to get the car and drive over to the garage.
No you're not safe in saint marks anymore. No there's no extreme luck or skill in avoiding it, just step into mafia territory and you are fucked for good
@@ShiroyashaVince I made the mistake of doing the serial killer missions after l killed Sal. Big mistake. Those missions take you near or right thru Saint Mark's nearly every time. I literally had to drive to the other side of the map and go the long way just to avoid being shot.
I also had problem dealing with armies with Barracks and Rhinos shooting M16s at you and immediately die. Thank god that Vice City and Stories games nerfed these guys to have them use MP5 and San Andreas has M16 that is weaker to take damage.
The Leones’ threat as they are hostile is a testament to the power they have. Besides, Claude killed a Mafia Don, there had to be some reprisal. The Yakuza merely sought Salvatore’s death. Many other GTA characters killed a Mafia Don, Tommy is probably the best example, having killed Sonny Forelli, but they never faced retribution for it because of a certain situation which was advantageous to them. By the time Tommy whacked Sonny, he was a powerful crime lord in Vice City, and killing Forelli only made him more powerful as a drug distributor, it cemented his position and made him a drug baron, a mafiosi that became a drug baron. The Forellis stood no chance to take revenge.
CJ also killed the next Forelli don, Marco Forelli in Saint Mark's Bistro, further weakening them and the fact that the Leones were far more powerful at that point.
@@Haxogone That’s right my friend. I just think Tommy killing Sonny is a good example because Sonny was a major Mafia Don that was murdered at the height of a family’s power, like the Leones. When Carl killed Marco, he was a hired gun for the Leones. The Forellis couldn’t give two shits about him, only the one ordering the hit. Toni killed Paulie Sindacco, after the Sindaccos’ decimation, thus he wasn’t hunted down, same as with the Forellis, despite the aforementioned bad blood. Same goes for Niko’s revenge against Jimmy Pegorino, there was no one to take revenge. I just thought Sonny was a good example since he is a main antagonist. Jimmy’s status as a main antagonist is determined by your decision, and the rest were minor characters for the most part.
The best thing I did is get the Sentinel behind Ma Cipriani’s restaurant it will sound an alarm 🚨 wait till the alarm stops and quickly drive out the neighborhood.
At least you could sneakily avoid the neighbourhood. Just drive behind the Supa Save store by the docks, enter the tunnel, drive out from the scrapyard, climb the hill to salvator's mansion, get a mafia sentinel if it spawns - then you can drive down the hill, and into the tunnel, or down to the beach, and to the docks. :D
It is not hard to get a Mafia Sentinel for that mission even though it comes after Sayonara Salvatore and the Leones have shotguns. All you have to do is come to Portland island via the tunnel and then get on the northern waterfront area all the way east towards Salvatore's mansion. Get out of your car, walk up the hill to Salvatore's mansion and grab a Mafia Sentinel there (no Leones will be around the mansion), then drive the car down the hill back to the north waterfront and then back to the tunnel and back to Staunton Island. You won't encounter any Leones with this route. If you damage the car coming down the steep hill, you can always fix it at the Pay N Spray in Staunton Island, as long as you don't totally flip it or go into the water. It isn't that hard to drive down the hill to the waterfront.
The main reason I don’t mess around in gta 3 anymore is because after you 100% the game the entire city wants you dead. It’s kinda sad, sure Claude killed everyone, but he also got set up way too much, just because Catalina wanted Claude dead.
Honestly, I think he's just there to kill Catalina and he skips town after that. He has few if any friends left and there's really nothing keeping him there. Plenty of other cities with new gangs that could use his services. Hell he could even go back to San Andres and get an in with the Yakuza or Grove Street. CJ and him can bond over their hatred of Catalina.
I agree although in all honesty they should have made it where after you beat the game, gangs won't attack you unless you instigate them. I love free roaming around the city and driving and taking in the atmosphere but that's pretty much out the window once you beat the game because every gang is out to get you kill you on site. I understand it's part of the story but it's a little unfair to players who like to drive around and roam freely.
Yes. I like to roam around myself. Maybe within about a decade or so, GTA VI would probably give us a free roam around the city, state, hell maybe even the United States to roam around in without the fear of getting attacked by gangs.
@@LawWonderTV9 Knowing Rockstar I give them a solid 20 years before they make a game that big, pray to god they don't fill it flying bikes, giant mechs and whatever other drug fueled madness they come up with that night at the bar.
I've had a hard time with the mission Gang Car Roundup for the Yardies getting the Leone's and Diablos cars due to the hostile gangs especially the Leones and their shotguns. What was Rockstar thinking keeping that in? Greedy bastards.
That is why I always after completing 'Last Requests' mission for Salvatore Leone will take the Diablo Stallion and the Mafia Sentinel to my Staunton Garage via the Porter Tunnel. This saves a lot of time as the garage in the Yardie missions are just a block from the safehouse. Even the driving part gets reduced and it is a breeze
i used this trick: go to Salvatore's mansion by driging on the beach behind. Climb then up to the mansion, steal a Mafia car and go back through the Portland Beach.
It's fixable on the old pc version by a 1 line change in a config file.. As most people hate gang hostility anyway , they should have given an option in menu to turn it off , or atleast have a cheat code to disable it... It's not that gang hostility is bad , games like Watch Dogs , San Andreas and GTA 5 (Franklin) implement it pretty well.. It's just that they start shooting you with shotguns and rifles when you're unarmed and driving in the car without aggroing them , you're not even staying in their territory forever , you're just passing by, it becomes a little overkill...

The Yardies piss me off, I mean every-time you need to go to Ammu-Nation on Staunton Island, it is in Yardies Turf and after doing the King Courtney Missions, as soon as you come out of the Store you get shot and attacked by Tons of Yardies. I’m very familiar with GTA III and have been for years, GTA III was released a month after I was born, so is the same age as me. I know enough to avoid around Saint Marks after the Story Progresses onto Staunton Island. I’ve only experienced it so badly in the Definitive Edition, when I was doing the King Courtney Gang Car Mission when I was in Leone Territory looking for a Leone Gang Car, I instantly blew up but the Yardies are as annoying as the Leones, they could have put the Gun Shop in Yakuza Territory at least then you’d have a good chance of getting everything you need without being shot with your Armour Draining so quickly.

For a remaster I expected them to rebalance the hostile gangs AI, the weapon behavior or the vehicle resistance to fix this problem. But no dedication has been put into quality of life improvements overall. I wouuld've reduced the spawn ratio of hostile Leones with shotguns to begin with.
It also pissed me off how OP the M-16 is. lol Running the numbers though, this is how I calculated what should really be like if the games were more authentic. In this chart, I calculate by each bullet’s foot pound-force per second (lbf-s for short) based on recorded bullet energy calculators and use the sniper rifle as a base for the top threshold of torso shots with the SMG being the bottom threshold for limb shots. Head shots should just be Insta-kill. I didn’t bother with shotguns because buckshot has a tendency to vary with its range. Basically: 125 / 2.29 = 54.59 for Torso 20 / 0.592 = 33.78 for Limbs Hence, Ibf-s x T = Torso damage Ibf-s x L = Limb damage *TOP threshold* • .300 Winchester Magnum (Sniper Rifle) = 2.29 lbf-s [77 to 125 HP] • .50 AE (Desert Eagle) = 1.965 lbf-s [66 to 107 HP] • 7.62x51mm NATO (PSG-1 and Minigun) = 1.894 lbr-s [64 to 103 HP] • 7.62x54mmR (SVD) = 1.875 lbr-s [63 to 102 HP] • 7.62x39mm (AK-47) = 1.289 lbf-s [44 to 70 HP] • .45 ACP (M1911) = 0.868 lbf-s [29 to 47 HP] • .357 Magnum (Colt Python) = 0.832 lbf-s [28 to 45 HP] • 5.56x45mm (M60, Kruger, M-16 and M4) = 0.764 lbf-s [26 to 42 HP] *BOTTOM threshold* • 9x19mm Pb (Glocks, Brettas and SMGs) = 0.592 lbf-s [20 to 32 HP] Although we never see this, I added this in for potential historical accuracy as the police back in the 1980s in Florida used revolvers for their side arms, until the 1990s. Which was common place amongst most police forces. • .38 Special (VC Police Revolver) = 0.532 lbf-s [18 to 29 HP]
For the packages, get all the packages you can on the first island before taking 8 Ball to the hideout because you can get them all without any interference. For side/secret missions, get them taken of the moment they appear on the mini map. That's just the way I've always played it.
As annoying as it is, I liked the fact that they kept the shotgun hell, I mean, it's part of GTA 3, get rid of it and it won't be GTA 3 anymore, I agree with you that disabling it during Turismo would be a good idea or during El Burro's 4th mission that becomes difficult because of it for those that don't complete it earlier, but getting rid of it completely would just make it a different game, it's annoying, but it's part of the GTA 3 experience to get annoyed sometimes. But anyway, if they have changed I wouldn't care because the definitive edition is trash anyway and it's already not GTA 3, I mean, they made some missions so much easier that it sucks, those who play the definitive edition aren't playing GTA 3, they are playing a very watered down version of GTA 3, an example of it is the police, cops are real psychos in the original, getting 3 stars in the original is very annoying, but in this one you can get 5 stars and it won't be annoying as getting 3 stars in the original, and even though cops are less aggressive they make the game easier further by reducing the amount of stars you get in some missions, anyway, this is not GTA 3.
Tbf they should have nerfed the shit out of that in the original before release but whatever. But I do agree the definitive edition is trash. This version of Liberty City is garbage. It's too clean in the streets and too bright to where it fucks up the atmosphere of the place. This shit is not Liberty City, and by extension, not GTA 3 as a whole. R* and GSG fucked up big time
@@ultimatecontagion Yeah, GTA 3 is my favorite classic GTA and the atmosphere is a part of it, and they screwed it up on this version. I actually like the shotgun hell, in the pc version the leones were nerfed a lot to the point you barely see a Shogun, and because of that saint marks became pretty much like any other hood were you can easily survive ir you are in a car, for me shotgun hell is what makes saint Mark unique, because it is easier to move on foot (with some care) than in a car. Nerfing saint Mark will take that "spark" that makes it unique. In my case i hated that they disabled the leones in the expresso 2 go mission, i wanted to feel that moment of tension on whether chosing to continue through the route you were going Or moving to a route with less leones or where you can Take more cover
@@Housesider I mean they can spawn with shotguns, but the chances are way lower that in the ps2, Im pretty sure that time you got shot was the only one, meaning it was mainly bad luck, in the ps2 version every time you enter saint mark is a chance to get blown up, you have to move slowly and see the leones spawning and trying to stay as far away from them so the shotgun deals less damage and see if you can survive a third shot
Well said if you had the option of The leone's having shot guns or M16s or rocket launchers what would you choose? i'd take my chances with the shotgun plus i have a bullet proof patriot the leones don't scare me also complete all the side activiities before you kill salvatore
I remember when GTA III came out and seeing it on GameFAQs that with the race if you set up a tank near the first safehouse that you could blow up one of the cars and push it into your garage and you would have an invisible Inferno of whatever the vehicle is called. Obviously, you would need to use cheats but I remember twenty years ago this was a pain when you got to second island.
“Say goodbye to the world, pr¡ck!” **shotgun blast** The don’t attack Claude in “Rigged To Blow” because either A) They saw D-Ice’s car, assumed he was behind the wheel and didn’t notice Claude or B) They don’t want to damage/destroy D-Ice’s car and risk a war with the Red Jacks.

Easy solution: Do the rampages, collect any hidden packages, do vigilante, do paramedic, and do firefighter before you start "Last Requests" If you don't do those few things, you will regret it.
@Marc Allan Leslie True, after completing the first main story mission, I actually drive or walk around just to not only explore, but also see if there's any vehicle missions or collect hidden packages.
The most annoying thing is even though you drive pass fort staunton at any time or in a mission , the cartel will always shoot at you with uzi and pistol .
There are certain missions where the Leones are made to be less dangerous like Rigged to Blow, as it would be impossible otherwise, and in Espresso 2 Go, the shotgun wielding Leones will have uzis/micro SMGs instead as you have to travel into Saint Marks to destroy one of the coffee stands. They should have did the same thing with Turismo, either make the Leones wield micro SMGs instead of shotguns or disable gang hostility for the duration of the mission, so it'd actually be possible to clear without needing to resort to a bulletproof vehicle.
I noticed some missions are made a little easier in DE, (one less wanted star for example) They could add an option to have 2 difficulty settings, to swap between the definitive and original difficulty On DE, they should just only have pistols and uzis
I noticed that one less wanted star while doing “A Drop in The Ocean” I was actually pissed that I purposely shot down a police helicopter just to get that 5 star wanted level
Totally agree. There is literally no way to live there for more than about 10 seconds after the betrayal if you're lucky, even with cheats. I get that you're supposed to be on the Mafia's hit list but, make it a challenge not instadeath; give them SMGs or something. Even if you wanna make it shotgun hell for a bit, let the heat die down at a certain point and go back to pistols so it's possible to be there. I could even see it in the original GTA III. Ok, you didn't play test it well or you didn't think it though. But it's been 2 decades and you know this is a problem. It should have been fixed at launch, it should be fixed now.
Someone probably said this, but in order for the Leones to not detect you is to put in a random pedestrian cheat. One where you are an old man with a hat and brown jacket.
I’m having trouble doing the 12 paramedic levels due to this problem my ambulance takes more damage from the gangs shooting at me then I do crashing maybe they should disable the gangs when doing these missions
I hate it when gangs use shotguns and shot a character after killing a gang leader. But yeah Saint Mark’s with Leonie gangs with pumped up shotguns after killing Salvatore Leonie is like you will never be able to escape from the area. And yes it’s sad that these gangs have those weapons.
Off topic here, yeah, but…OMG…now I haven’t played The Definitive Edition Trilogy yet, but seeing a proper map screen for GTA 3…it brings a tear to my eyes. Now, I HAVE TO TRY THIS. Back when I was little, GTA 3 was the first GTA game I ever played. I think I was 6 at the time and the game had been out for a little over 2 years. Going back about the issue at hand with the Leone’s turning into Terminators. It’s a lot like on Ghost Recon: Wildlands, when you activate Tier Mode. Shotguns become extremely overpowered, especially against enemy vehicles.
Should of made it to where when you complete the final mission all the gangs from the Diablos to the Triads become neutral again instead of limiting you to a portion of the 3rd island and the middle of the 2nd island and practically kicking you off the 1st island with the Diablos, Leone family and Triads trying to gun you down at every corner
I like to go back there and walk on the elevated train tracks, and pop them with a sniper rifle. Sometimes they see me up there and start shooting in my direction, but they can’t get me.
Actually the thing the would make the strongest gang in GTA would be equipping them with GTA3’s M16 😆 the army at 6 stars wanted level have those and it shreds.
The reason professional I think that the leones don't shoot u on d ice mission is because the red Jack's are the leones allies.

The Leone at 11:39 killed his own guy😂
I saw that too😂😂😂😂😂😂
One of the biggest problems is that one of the King Courtney missions REQUIRES a Mafia Sentinel: you better have saved one before Sayonara Salvatore

Leones owned the cops
Cops in GTA III are incredibly useless.

Salvatore's paranoia is still concerning and very dangerous, even after his death.
The main reason I don’t mess around in gta 3 anymore is because after you 100% the game the entire city wants you dead. It’s kinda sad, sure Claude killed everyone, but he also got set up way too much, just because Catalina wanted Claude dead.

Plenty of other cities with new gangs that could use his services. Hell he could even go back to San Andres and get an in with the Yakuza or Grove Street. CJ and him can bond over their hatred of Catalina.

I used to take the sentinel from the mansion, store it at my Portland garage and then go meet Maria
You can just climb the mansion from the Beach area
It's fixable on the old pc version by a 1 line change in a config file.. As most people hate gang hostility anyway , they should have given an option in menu to turn it off , or atleast have a cheat code to disable it... It's not that gang hostility is bad , games like Watch Dogs , San Andreas and GTA 5 (Franklin) implement it pretty well.. It's just that they start shooting you with shotguns and rifles when you're unarmed and driving in the car without aggroing them , you're not even staying in their territory forever , you're just passing by, it becomes a little overkill...

Basically:
125 / 2.29 = 54.59 for Torso
20 / 0.592 = 33.78 for Limbs
Hence,
Ibf-s x T = Torso damage
Ibf-s x L = Limb damage
*TOP threshold*
• .300 Winchester Magnum (Sniper Rifle) = 2.29 lbf-s [77 to 125 HP]
• .50 AE (Desert Eagle) = 1.965 lbf-s [66 to 107 HP]
• 7.62x51mm NATO (PSG-1 and Minigun) = 1.894 lbr-s [64 to 103 HP]
• 7.62x54mmR (SVD) = 1.875 lbr-s [63 to 102 HP]
• 7.62x39mm (AK-47) = 1.289 lbf-s [44 to 70 HP]
• .45 ACP (M1911) = 0.868 lbf-s [29 to 47 HP]
• .357 Magnum (Colt Python) = 0.832 lbf-s [28 to 45 HP]
• 5.56x45mm (M60, Kruger, M-16 and M4) = 0.764 lbf-s [26 to 42 HP]
*BOTTOM threshold*
• 9x19mm Pb (Glocks, Brettas and SMGs) = 0.592 lbf-s [20 to 32 HP]
Although we never see this, I added this in for potential historical accuracy as the police back in the 1980s in Florida used revolvers for their side arms, until the 1990s. Which was common place amongst most police forces.
• .38 Special (VC Police Revolver) = 0.532 lbf-s [18 to 29 HP]

I noticed some missions are made a little easier in DE, (one less wanted star for example)
They could add an option to have 2 difficulty settings, to swap between the definitive and original difficulty
On DE, they should just only have pistols and uzis
I noticed that one less wanted star while doing “A Drop in The Ocean” I was actually pissed that I purposely shot down a police helicopter just to get that 5 star wanted level
A difficulty settings would be amazing, like an option to make sa and vc harder
When driving through Saint Mark’s it’s the equivalent of getting Orbital Striked lmao.
Better cruise in the bulletproof Patriot that Ray leaves you when you're in that neighborhood.
Just like what he said: it's risky because if you get out of it for any reason (or get pulled out), you'll end up losing it after getting obliterated
They really should change it, no more shotgun hell
I need justice
CLAUDE 4 JUSTICE
I’m having trouble doing the 12 paramedic levels due to this problem my ambulance takes more damage from the gangs shooting at me then I do crashing maybe they should disable the gangs when doing these missions
Show me a better relationship than Patrick and Leones with shotguns
Niko Bellic: pffft *uses infinite gauntlet and have the Leones perished*
Should of made it to where when you complete the final mission all the gangs from the Diablos to the Triads become neutral again instead of limiting you to a portion of the 3rd island and the middle of the 2nd island and practically kicking you off the 1st island with the Diablos, Leone family and Triads trying to gun you down at every corner
12:14
This is worrying for CJ and Sweet Kendl Woozie Cesar and The San Fierro Triads especially with Ma Cipriani's hitmen
I used to call that neighborhood Saint Marks Slaughter since that's all that ever happened to me driving through there lol
I like to go back there and walk on the elevated train tracks, and pop them with a sniper rifle. Sometimes they see me up there and start shooting in my direction, but they can’t get me.
While drive into Saint marks Police officer: You are risking your life
The issue at St. Marks is crazy when I first played GTA 3 the Mafia scared me and Everytime I play GTA 3 I try to find somewhere to hide
Actually the thing the would make the strongest gang in GTA would be equipping them with GTA3’s M16 😆 the army at 6 stars wanted level have those and it shreds.
Imagine this, A gang using the GTA III M16s and GTA VC Miniguns with GTA Doomsday aim.
The reason professional I think that the leones don't shoot u on d ice mission is because the red Jack's are the leones allies. Remember professional in your lcs playthrough the red jack hoods become allies of the leones to help fight in the gang war but they nevered explained why. But in lcs after the yardies betray the leones and so the red jack take their place as the leones allies. That's why the leones don't shoot u on d ice mission because the red Jack's and the leones are at peace. And d ice said he told them to take the bomb off. But yeah it's very frustrating that that's the only time u can come back to saints marks.
