@wuffalo it was supposed to come out last year, but with Covid, thry immediately delayed it a full year while other studios were playing the “delay a month or two” game, like Disney and BlackWidow. Not sure when it is supposed to be out now. Its made with more care, Ackroyd is more involved, I believe Harold Ramis’ son directed it. Trailer is on youtube.

Modern Pixar is the perfect example of this. Many of the movies after Coco (with Soul being an exception) feel like movies that are not made for everyone. Pixar was about making CGI movies for EVERYONE. When you force demographic pandering, it alienates the audience Pixar built upon.

The funny thing about the whole controversy. It's that more people actually watched this video, more than the movie itselft. And by doing nothing, actually James took the high road, without acknowledging the backlash. 15 years a fan, and the most utter respect for the man. Class act.

The worst part of Ghostbusters 2016 is that they turned the ghostbusters into Action Heroes, whereas the original was all about a group of ordinary people trying to create their self-owned extermination business. They weren't action heroes. Them getting winded while walking up the stairs at the end illustrates this perfectly.
Years later... the move is forgotten and AVGN is still relevant.

I already noticed in the UK there are newer blue ray double packs of just GB1 and 2 omitting a certain other one.
I see the "Female" Ghostbusters title used, specifically because the 2016 one left so little impact or mark that you have to specify you're talking about that one instead of the "default" original incarnation.
Thankfully, the 2016 one is now known as "Ghostbusters: Answer the Call."
It was just shown on U.K. TV and it had a 2 stars rating, for comparison Mac & Me has 3.

They could have had Harold Ramis's character been murdered by a ghost, the Ghostbusters capture the ghost, then eventually the rest of the gang just gave up over time,they hide the ghost they captured, someone finds them and releases them, Melissa tracks down Bill Murray, reunites the original Ghostbusters with a few new characters and stop the ghost that killed Harold, there is room in this scenario for a huge plot twist, but no Hollywood had to take the easy route, the second trailer shows the Marshmallow Man, the whole point of the Marshmallow Man was to be something not scary and the last thing you think of in a horror movie, they couldn't have changed it to a more modern thing like the energizer bunny and kept it out of the trailer

The irony is that the backlash may have wipe out whatever chances we'll ever get to see him reviewing it. Remember he said he won't pay to watch it in theaters but he didn't say anything about when it gets aired on television. However after what happened, would he have a reason to review it? Time has passes and James was 100% right all around on this one.
This is why James gets my eternal respect. Unlike a lot of youtubers these days he's willing to stand by his integrity instead of feeding the monsters that release garbage and doing a review for views.

@@2hot4u68 In all fairness to James Rolfe, TFA was an overall slightly OK film. It wasn't until The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker when the sequel trilogy really became absolute dog excrement. Now, Disney has already pizzed away all the Star Wars fans after insulting them and destroying what they've loved for so long that Star Wars is sadly a dead franchise now.
The real Ghosterbusters 3 was the video game back on the 360 and PS3.

As far as I'm concerned the only true successor to the 2 Ghostbusters movies is the 2009 video game.
And the game is awesome. Still play it to this day.
You should really read the ongoing IDW comic book series it's set in the movie universe and is just an all around awesome sequel to the movies and the game.
The game had a lot of flaws, but it's more true to Ghostbusters than this remake can ever hope to be.
