- This is the anthem of the Beiyang Fleet, one of the Four modernized naval armies of the Qing, the last Chinese dynasty. This song was lost after the defeat of the Beiyang fleet at the hands of the Japanese in the first Sino-Japanese War, however it was rediscovered at the English Naval Archives in 2012.

They had big german made cruisers. They sailed them to japan to impress them. Japanese ships were smaller. Unfortunately the Japanese were not impressed. They knew the chinese minds were meek. In a subsequent war, the entire fleet was said to be sunk. The defeat was then recorded in history as caused by the empress taking all the navy's money for her birthday.
The chinese believe in winning without fighting in accordance with a fictional theory written by some guy a thousand year ago. Their current navy is using the same philosophy, that they will win without needing to fight. Once again, Japan isn't impressed.
