When I make some mistakes in learning anything new , I remind myself that I am making mistakes because I am learning something new, which means I am trying to learn something .so whenever you are making a mistake, remind yourself that if you will not trying to learn something then you will never make mistakes.
I can understand everything in English listening, reading and I speak very well, the problem is that when I have to write something I am not sure if it is correct as now, I have vocabulary, however my problem is if I am writing with the right structure, order or time.
i think learning grammar is so important and it is a big step for every learner to master the language ,but the idea of getting to learn grammar does not necessarily mean doing it by hard . the learning process should be smooth and automatic just as babies do when they first learn a particular language ,they listen carefully ,they speak and repeat what is being said and then the last step which is writing stays the third essential pillar of learning methodology . just take it simple and don't feel disappointed or frustrated because learning something cannot happen or be achieved over night .In fact, it takes a while and it needs more efforts as well as hard working.
brother i totally agreed with you but in your point that yiu said master the language no buddy i think can master something he can be better but he can't accomplish it
i think learning grammer has to be the first thing in learning any kind of language. cause evry language based on grammer,so if we comprehend the grammer, they're possibilities to learn very quick the language.we also have to do our vocabulary simultaneously.
For me I was interested in grammar at the beginning of my English language learning. But now, after social networks like TH-cam and etc.. I am focusing on conversation listening and teachers lessons on TH-cam channels like yours and it's really useful so I agree with you Vanessa Thank u so much
I believe as Vanessa the teacher said ,we need to practice our conversation with native and in our communication we practice the real grammar. Thank you Vanesssa my english teacher. All the best and God bless you.
I think it’s important to know the basis , and get practical experience of how you use those rules on daily conversations. No matter how much grammar you know - if you can’t use it while talking .
Some people underestimate grammar but it is important . If I were to say "went" without grammar , I would never know in what moment should I use it. I may as well believe "went" is meant to be used in the present simple or progressive and so on which is wrong and it would be pretty messed up. The moment you say "went" is in past tense or just past, that is grammar so it is necessary.
My opinion is that the help of knowing grammar rules is too big. As you said, we all learned our mother tongues without spending energy on language. I think it might be enough for adults to learn the basic rules of linguistic knowledge. We should try to increase our vocabulary in the meantime. Instead of studying the rules of linguistics, we should constantly follow the native speaker's spoken language. Thus, we can learn from dialogues how English is used in daily life in a flexible way. Thanks from Turkey Vaneesa !

I agree with you :). However I think the issue of grammar is also quite a personal thing - I've had students who really love grammar! I've known people who've reached a high level by focusing a lot on it in the beginning, and others who didn't formerly learn much grammar, but became very fluent in other ways. There is definitely too much of an emphasis on grammar in most education systems though!
Barbaros Şenses I agree, looking up some words, listening, speaking and why not, writing, I didn't almost study grammar until now because I love linguistics, but if you have others aims maybe is not necessary

I think grammar is a very important aspect of linguistic knowledge. This is what I've been trying to do recently. I've been thinking about a way of putting my conciously learned grammatical knowledge into level of unconceous state of mind so when I'm speaking I only focus on the message I'm delivering instead of grammatical rules.
I don't like to study grammar, I prefer to memorize sentences.i think it can help me to memorize more vocabulary and understand grammar .in addition, the most important is it can let me have more confidence to converse .
I didnt study english until i was 12. And the first things they taught me were grammar and reading. I studied like that for 6 years and when I got to Uni they taught me about pronunciation. So for 6 years I studied english without really speaking the language. Even after studying pronounciation I still couldn't understand native speakers or speak english fluently, my speaking was better than listening though, thanks for the pronounciation course. And after that I met and worked with a lot of native speakers, for the first 2 months it was very hard for me to catch up with the conversations. However, 3 months after that I could speak really well, i meant really fluently, not as good as a native speaker but better than all of my Vietnamese collegdes who didnt consider grammar important and studied it seriouly like i did. In my oppinion, i depends when you start studying english that will decide if you need to study grammar or not (especially for a non native speaker like me). If you didnt start to study until you were 12 like me, it's definitely very important. Grammar will shorten your time of getting to the goal of speaking fluently with sentences that make sense.

when you practice speaking skills ,you also can improve your grammar .Just study a little about basic grammar .When you can speak well ,you should learn higher grammar
Thank you , Vanessa, for your nice lecture. I think that English grammar is very important because grammatically right sentences seem polite. I would like to speak as polite English as possible even though I often make mistakes when I speak in English.
In my opinion grammar is important to learn. But, some teachers says the grammar is not important when you go intermediate, and Advanced just you said. Teacher you taught me what I am asking for myself many times. Thank you so much teacher Vanessa. It's good idea what you've been said.
I've been studying english for a year, and for 10 months I didn't study any grammar cuz I thought it wasn't important, so I just focused on my vocabulary and other skills. Now, I understand the importance of grammar and I study a grammar topic once a week. But I don't regret the time I spent learning other things, because that time focusing on vocabulary gave me confidence to speak without thinking about grammar rules. I am sure that I made mistakes, I don't care, though, 'cause I know it's normal.
I usually study grammar listen to a conversation , movies, youtube channels etc.. and when I am reading a book, this is one of the best ways as well, I find a lot of good sentences, it's kind of a review when we are reading a book, we can see what we are studying and that's amazing for me.
Hi Vanessa! You have no idea how useful to me are your videos and as for your question I think you've already explained:Grammar when your are begginer and real conversation for those who are understanding a lot. I woud just add for the ones who are advanced to focus on increasing vocabulary and if it is through real conversation is even better once again thnx Vanessa!
I think that it is important to study English Grammar. And it's possible to do it in a smart way. The way I did it (actually I'm still doing it) is buy doing the exercises included in an amazing book : Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy.
grammar is important to learn the usage of sentence, perfect tense , adverbs . suffix, pronunciation, syntax, semantic and logic. this plays an essential role in learning to express yourself in the right way. you cannot erase it from the equation. dont worry about this ,once you have mastered the language. you should try to develop confidence in your linguistic skills. .why is the pronunciation of english so difficult ? speaking of grammar rules. there are many questions that frustrate you .you cannot seem to find a satisfactory answer. this method has been unsuccessful . because we try to rationalize the language, too many rules harm learning. as a teacher she has broken this rule many times .the only explanation that exists is that there is none. every language presents special difficulties for people who cannot speak it. the number of rules does not matter when you learn a language. the english learner does not need to know the reason for everything in order to learn. don't worry too much about learning very advanced grammar , technical jargon until you really need it. less complicated syntax and more speaking and listening.
Good point Vanessa! Exposing yourself to native English is definitely the best was to develop grammar structure naturally, but I'm still a student right now in Taiwan, so I'm stuck with grammar book😭
In my opinion, I would say that it varies from one person to another. One should know grammar as per one's requirements. We don't want to be a "grammar nerd". However, we should know fair level of grammar to explain and understand in English...
Hi Vannessa! First, thank you for all of your fantastic videos . I really appreciate them. Answering your question is quite difficult for me because I feel it really depends on learner's personality. In my opinion, studying grammar is important to become able to use it and can be very helpful especially if the learner is studious and they want to impove their English as much as possible. Actually, studying basic grammar helped me a lot to understand, and to immitate them. I think that because I had some basic grammatical knowledge, I was be able to put correct words in correct places when I speak English. I'm still a learner, so not every time though. However, I understand some people don't enjoy to study grammar, and prefer to just practice. For those people, I'm not sure if studying grammar is good because they don't enjoy studying English. They just practice and make a lot of mistakes, but also learn gradually and from them. I've met some people who didn't study grammar and impoved their English or sometimes other languages. After all, there may be no correct answer whether grammar is important or not, but I guess the way learners impoved their English is the correct way “for them”. By the way, I just watched some of your previous videos. Happy belated birthday to your husband Dan yesterday. Sorry for my late message. I hope he had a great birthday!
It depends on the English learners style, in my case I almost always learn the language by watching these kind of videos with English subtitles and sometimes without them. I often study or go over English grammar rules because English has the easiest grammar of all languages. In a nutshell, learning and going over grammar is fairly important to knowing any language very well. However, if you want to speak the language confidently with native speakers or just to practice yourself regardless of making several mistakes, then Grammar doesn't matter because you'll probably feel bored or even tired by memorizing plenty of grammar rules and structures. I think listening and speaking are the most important abilities to learning a language such as English and this works great with any language.
Hi, Vanessa. Thanks for your pretty valuable videos. I improved a lot. I think grammar is important and we should learn it. But we shouldn't just learn grammar only through memorizing grammar rules. We should combine the grammar rules with many listening and reading practice. Cheers from China!
I think its not very important to learn grammar rules. Espessially for just listening, not speaking.Even for speaking, its more important to listen native speakers and have enough pracrice to speak.
Thank you Vanessa for this video. I started learning English 3 yrs ago. Back then I knew basic things in English but if you would have said to me that can you understand a person who is speaking in English?. I would've said no way it is not possible. But you know I started listening native speakers , music, reading and a lot of other things as well. I used to write whatever they said in their video. I never studied grammar. It was really boring. Today I can understand the words of native speaker pretty well. I can speak but you know I've never ever had english conversation with anyone in person. But still I can speak. I stammer in between but I am improving. I have trouble writing in English. I don't understand pronunciation. But still I'm trying. Also I can read things pretty well. At the end of the day it's all about progress. If you are consistent then don't think about reaching a destination. Just enjoy the process 🙏
yeah, i think grammar it's very important, but my goals is fluency, so i'm learning language for speaking, and confident to express anything, so I remember when my teacher toldme to "DARE TO SPEAK" !
I think studying grammar is a wing of a language learning, so we need to study grammar, but also we have to read and listen and speak to improve it :) then, the result is that learning a new language is like a bird which has 4 wings :)
as always great video thank you,and in my opinion about the importance of grammar in English is grammar it's not one of the important parts in English we could learn how to build sentences with listening to native speakers conversations or watching movies,Tv shows, documentaries with subtitles etc..
Yes, I agree with you. I think we should to study Grammar, at least thats use to improve our daily conversation.. Thank you so much Vanessa. Syukran from Indonesia~
I dont think soo , i have almost learned basic conversation just by watching movies and TH-cam videos its helped me alot and there are another good method its to imitate the native speaker
When you want to know about grammar by studying it, you will struggle many times. you need to listen to stories in English I can see by this way you will learn the grammar deeply.
hi Venessa, I am really happy to have your video here, ummm i totally agree with you that grammar is important, but is it important to analyze it? i don't think so, i mean, if for oral English, cause i never try to learn it in a system way, but i know how can i use it, not 100% correct of course and after my oral English gets improvement, i go back to check all grammar rules, then i find out some rules are showed in a very difficult way which i can't understand if only read the grammar rules. but in my real life, it's so natural fo me to use it without thinking. I think that depend on your English learning target, if you focus on oral English, then there is no necessary to worry about if you don't know all grammar rules. thank you for your hard working so that we can have these wonderful videos, love you from China. x
yes of course in the begining grammar is important! but if you are in intermediate level you gotta learn grammar from conversations somthing like this. I think so. if you do it, you will learn grammar subconsciously!!1 thats the most important thing! thank you for attention!
I think grammar is pretty important but way to hard to learn. there's so many tenses and rules... the more I try the more I'm getting confused and keep forgeting (I'm not sure if I made this sentence right)
my opinion same with you.. because i'm beginner, and if i study grammar it's very difficult for me and i agree if the beginner begin english from daily conversation.
I understand very well your videos , but I want to speak correctly, in some cases I can speak perfectly but not always . I cannot go on without thinking grammar rules and yes,Grammar is important part of using a language.
It depends on the student's aim and the teacher's methodology & approach. It is important to understand the difference between language LEARNING and language ACQUISITION 🤷🏻♀️
Yes, I agree that learning grammar is very important. But I found many people in my country may make grammar mistakes when speaking my native language. So, learning grammar from native speakers in daily life is better!
Well, I'm from Nepal, And we have around 125 ethnic groups in Nepal. And everyone has their mother tongue. But our official language is Nepali. And I Speak almost 4 languages in Nepal including English. Well, in my view, if you think in an easy way than English is very easy to learn. But if you put stress in your mind than English is very tough to learn. So It's all about how you think about one particular language. In my case, I read basic grammar rules and mostly I read 1000 basic, intermediate level English phrases. And every time I practice myself by giving a speech in English in front of the mirror. So now when I meet any foreigners I can comfortably communicate with them and understand what they say. So for me, grammar is not important when you read English phrases.
We don’t study grammar first when we get used to our native language/s, but we take hold of words from the environment and gradually step forward. In this case, our environment factor helps us in every direction because it is full of stuffs related to our native language/s. However, when we study an alien language, the state of affairs is different, so we need to get some basic understanding about the structure of “that language”, so it means “grammar”. So, grammar plays a vital role in studying a foreign language. But studying grammar for the sake of grammar is pointless, so we need a setting to practice it or a setting to apply it. At times, in our local context/s, it is impossible to find such settings because we in general use our vernacular languages to talk local people. But it is possible to create such environments if we are really interested in studying foreign language/s. However, the environment plays a key role in relation to every learning process.
In my opinion, grammar is too important to study because when someone learns through listening, he doesn't get confidence in writing similarly when he speaks somewhere and finds that he is being judged, he can feel awful because everytime he would think, is this okay what i am speaking, I've been through this situation too many times so i said it. But lots of people learn by listening that is also good.
I think grammar is really important for someone who isn't a native speaker or doesn't live in an English-speaking country, but the most important thing is to practice using real material. The problem is when people don't practice.
I know everything about grammar but I'm not able to speak English when I come across strangers who speak English. When I start conversations, after 30 minutes or 40 minutes my English fluency begin and then I feel comfortable. Initial time, I get nervous and I think that if I make mistakes so what will happen. And this situation stops me from speaking English and from showing my knowledge of English.. I know everything of grammar( subject verb object, transitive verbe, intransitive verbs, ambitransitive, errgativeg verbs, stative verbs, linking verbs, noun types, the role nouns, adverbs, Verbs , prepositions. Prepositional phrases, infinitive and gerund phrases.. adjective, noun and adverb clauses.. I have learn how to use "it and there".everything I know.. do you make mistakes? Do natives make mistakes? Im curious to know about it...
Hello Vanessa! Thanks for the video and for one more very positive message! Answering your question: Yes - In my opinion it is important to learn gramatical structures, since it will help students to understand English better. Besides, this is a way to be in touch with the language, so one more tool that people shall use to surround themselves with the English, as you reccomend in a past video. Just one curiosity : there is a word in a wood plate behind you on the video. Which word is it? Would be "amor"? Thanks again and take care!
of course that is very important to learn grammar because if we really want to speak in English we have to know how to write the sentences in English and if we learn how to write sentences in English so we will speak in that way because we know about grammar.
I learn grammar because I want to write lyrics for my songs in English and I shouldn't make mistakes. In conversations it's ok to make mistakes sometimes.
Hello Vanessa... I'm still improving my english.. I think people don't need to study grammar ... But, people need to practice the grammar.. This is what I've seen in my school, there are so many nonnative English speakers, they just want to learn, and without practicing.. Maybe they don't care, i don't know..
Well I think as a beginner to learn grammar is pretty important... and when you get a good level you can start learning from English material like this one which is so helpful 🙂👍🏼
I think learning grammar is important. But the most important thing is to watch venasa's video... Kidding.... After all how to learn grammar is really important not just learning randomly and without teacher
I would say yes for me because i am going to study uni after couple of months however its not that much important for those people are looking for work because in the working area there isn't writing essay or something like that you just need to speak properly.
I take English as a second language. Grammar isn't so important to me because teachers just want us to imitate the way they speak. l do what they say and speak English without any problems. Sometimes, I read some sentence structure books and find grammar seem to be easy for me. What l need to do is to remember the terms people use such as noun, adjective, clause, and something like that. Please tell if that is a correct way of learning English. With appreciation.
Dear teacher Vanessa, Could you please prepare a detailed video lesson on how to use “BEING” in different contexts? For example, she is being innocent (she looks innocent, but she may be a different character!)The application of BEING in different ways is so important, so please take this issue into your consideration and plan a video lesson for the interest of viewers on the Internet. Good Luck!
yes,at the first time I was really focusing on grammar but as time grew on ,I found out watching natural english material is way more easier to learn grammar
I wasted my time study a lots of grammar, I agree with Vanessa we shouldn't study grammar with textbook, instead we should use real English, I mean Native speak, after stopping study grammar my English is growing fast. Thanks Vanessa I`m learning many things with you.
When I make some mistakes in learning anything new , I remind myself that I am making mistakes because I am learning something new, which means I am trying to learn something .so whenever you are making a mistake, remind yourself that if you will not trying to learn something then you will never make mistakes.

I will never write completely correct.

By the way, I just watched some of your previous videos. Happy belated birthday to your husband Dan yesterday. Sorry for my late message. I hope he had a great birthday!
amazing!!!!! I don't know if it's my laziness, but you've changed my way of thinking about that topic though. regards, from Bolivia.
Lovely ideas, Yue Leo! Let's learn grammar through listening and reading.
Vanesa is my favorite english teacher
I think its not very important to learn grammar rules. Espessially for just listening, not speaking.Even for speaking, its more important to listen native speakers and have enough pracrice to speak.
I'm totally agree with you
Thank you Vanessa for this video.
Ma'am I'm agree with your views, first of all started speaking English n day by day correct our mistake... Thanks ma'am for your valuable video
yeah, i think grammar it's very important, but my goals is fluency, so i'm learning language for speaking, and confident to express anything, so I remember when my teacher toldme to "DARE TO SPEAK" !
You have a way important to teach us the grammar .. this video for me . Is very important. Thank you.. carry on .never give up
I think studying grammar is a wing of a language learning, so we need to study grammar, but also we have to read and listen and speak to improve it :) then, the result is that learning a new language is like a bird which has 4 wings :)
the grammar english is so useful for everyone that they don't undertand what the english speaker said before.
You are great . I was in doubt whether to start learning grammar from the beginning or to keep listening and reading books .thank you
This opinion, based on your experience as a teacher, is so helpful. Thanks :)
as always great video thank you,and in my opinion about the importance of grammar in English is grammar it's not one of the important parts in English we could learn how to build sentences with listening to native speakers conversations or watching movies,Tv shows, documentaries with subtitles etc..
This was my biggest question in my head, thank you for your advice
thanks i suppose i can make words better in my sentences,
when i'm trying to talk or having a conversation with someone,
Yes, I agree with you. I think we should to study Grammar, at least thats use to improve our daily conversation.. Thank you so much Vanessa. Syukran from Indonesia~
Instinct Brain grammar is not an important for conversation but it is important when u writing something just like articles
yes
for me it's very important to learn grammar
I dont think soo , i have almost learned basic conversation just by watching movies and TH-cam videos its helped me alot and there are another good method its to imitate the native speaker
When you want to know about grammar by studying it, you will struggle many times. you need to listen to stories in English I can see by this way you will learn the grammar deeply.
yes learn English Grammar it's very important but in first time you must to learn a lot's of words so you can to understand english teacher.
Grammar is the mother of language. It helps us in learning & speaking a language correctly and Clearly.
That's right, but a lot of beginners waste time to learn Grammar and give up to learn English.

Yeah! Firstly we should try to speak English then learning grammar this way learning grammar makes sense...... 🥰🥰
thank so much mrs Vanessa
hi Venessa, I am really happy to have your video here, ummm i totally agree with you that grammar is important, but is it important to analyze it? i don't think so, i mean, if for oral English, cause i never try to learn it in a system way, but i know how can i use it, not 100% correct of course and after my oral English gets improvement, i go back to check all grammar rules, then i find out some rules are showed in a very difficult way which i can't understand if only read the grammar rules. but in my real life, it's so natural fo me to use it without thinking. I think that depend on your English learning target, if you focus on oral English, then there is no necessary to worry about if you don't know all grammar rules. thank you for your hard working so that we can have these wonderful videos, love you from China. x
Hi, Vanessa. Thank you for this useful video. I do think that grammar is important to speak good English.
yes of course in the begining grammar is important! but if you are in intermediate level you gotta learn grammar from conversations somthing like this. I think so. if you do it, you will learn grammar subconsciously!!1 thats the most important thing! thank you for attention!
I think grammar is pretty important but way to hard to learn. there's so many tenses and rules... the more I try the more I'm getting confused and keep forgeting (I'm not sure if I made this sentence right)
Grammar is important
my opinion same with you..
because i'm beginner, and if i study grammar it's very difficult for me and i agree if the beginner begin english from daily conversation.
You are more than teacher Vanessa, I always proud of you with the way you use simple language to teach .
Hi Vanessa your videos are perfectly understandable thank you,I love your explanation ...
Great idea. We need to study grammar for one purpose: to use it. :D
Thanks for your thoughtful comment, Salomao. Yes, the wooden plaque says "Amor." My student in Brazil sent it to me.
Hi Vanessa! Thanks for the video! Your lessons are super helpful and you are super lovely! I love your smile 😊😁🖖
Hi, Vanessa, I wanna learn American accents.. please make more videos about it. Like last year you taught us about wanna , gonna , hafta, shoulda etc.
I love the way that you teach us!!!
Thanks
Nice to listen to you. Your concept is apparent. God bless you!
O agree with you vanessa I Always studied grammar , but I needed to speak english.
In my opinion, grammar is important for you express yourself and comunication.
of course that is very important to learn grammar because if we really want to speak in English we have to know how to write the sentences in English and if we learn how to write sentences in English so we will speak in that way because we know about grammar.
Yes you are absolutely right.mashaallaah.
I learn grammar because I want to write lyrics for my songs in English and I shouldn't make mistakes. In conversations it's ok to make mistakes sometimes.
In my opinion, grammar is not essential in daily conversation. But grammar is important for further use of English, for example, in law school study.
According to me if you do for exams so it's important but in conversation you don't need it listen and practice
Hi, grammar is important and to master grammar, we must accept to our own histories and tell them to someone who speaks.
Vennessa can you please teach us the interchange of parts of speech.
Your grammar is beautiful miss vanessa.much obliged !
I think learning grammar is important. But the most important thing is to watch venasa's video... Kidding.... After all how to learn grammar is really important not just learning randomly and without teacher
I don't understand English language, but i want to English ,And now I understand your video
Really your great
Thank you ma'am
I would say yes for me because i am going to study uni after couple of months however its not that much important for those people are looking for work because in the working area there isn't writing essay or something like that you just need to speak properly.
yup i agree.
I love your videos and your teaching style. You're awesome!!! Please keep up making videos, it's been a pleasure to know your great work 😁😁😁
Dear teacher Vanessa,
Could you please prepare a detailed video lesson on how to use “BEING” in different contexts? For example, she is being innocent (she looks innocent, but she may be a different character!)The application of BEING in different ways is so important, so please take this issue into your consideration and plan a video lesson for the interest of viewers on the Internet. Good Luck!
yes,at the first time I was really focusing on grammar but as time grew on ,I found out watching natural english material is way more easier to learn grammar
thank you so much vanessa
I wasted my time study a lots of grammar, I agree with Vanessa we shouldn't study grammar with textbook, instead we should use real English, I mean Native speak, after stopping study grammar my English is growing fast.
Thanks Vanessa I`m learning many things with you.
I think it's extremely important for English learner to learn english and I like learning English grammar love you
You are all right
