- There are two kind of lenses, converging and diverging lens. For a converging lens, parallel light rays converge to a point at the other side. This point is called the focus and the distance between the lens and the focus is called the focal length. For a diverging lens, parallel light rays will diverge away from each other after passing through the lens. However, these diverging rays seems like to come a point at the side of the incoming rays. We can consider this imaginary point as the focus and the distance between this point and the lens is the focal length of the diverging lens.

Sir how we measure the distance of virtual images
how can really no teacher point this out? Feels like the teachers dont wanna answer the hard questions. When the object is further away than the focal point, why do we need a piece of paper at the formed image of the object to see it? Why not just have our eyes beyond that distance where the real image formed? shouldnt we see the object as if it was at that point then? shouldnt the real formed image be enough for us to see the the object as if it was appearing at that point? way infront of the lins?
