I’ve watched this video so many times since I first saw it over the summer. I’ve still only gotten through the first two you mention, but they both absolutely blew me away - especially Son of the Morning Star. Man! What a book! So much better than I ever could have imagined. Now, I want to go down a Custer and Little Bighorn rabbit hole and read everything there is to read on it. So thank you Steve for an excellent video, one among many.

This is right up my alley Steve, thanks. Great perspective on reading military history! I've never read Son of the Morning Star, but I need to add it to my list.

My nonfiction November is completely nonfiction with WW2 books. The Storm of War by Andrew Roberts, All Hell Let Loose by Max Hastings, The Second World War by Antony Beevor and the Battle of Britain by Richard Overy. All I got because of you WW2 starter kit to did 1000 plus videos ago.

Right now I am reading An Army At Dawn by Rick Atkinson, I went to Half Price to look for a nonfiction book to read and decided on military history because of my love of military type groups in speculative fiction and romantic suspense.

In honour of Nonfiction November I'm reading Churchill's account of WW2. What a man!

Because I'm reading so many military tomes for my personal 20 Tomes in 2020 project next year, I'm not reading any for Non-Fiction November. But this is a fascinating list, Steve. I've heard of some of them, but the only one I've read is The Longest Day, which was so long ago that I'm probably due for a re-read. Son of the Morning Star, Miracle at Midway and Stalingrad are already all on my mile-high TBR pile, but The Battle of the Atlantic is going into my next Amazon order.
And speaking of Amazon, and if you can't find it elsewhere, The Allure of Battle is available on Kindle for $9.99. I'm a little choosy about historical non-fiction on an ereader or even a tablet because maps, if there are any, tend not to be very helpful in that format. Still, if that's the only way to read a copy of The Allure of Battle, I'll grab that one from Amazon, too!

Oh wow another starter kit to sink my teeth into, thanks! Although, I must say, I strongly disagree with you that Black Hawk Down was a good film; I personally found it to be a jingoistic and racist piece of propaganda. The book by Mark Bowden was far better and offered much more nuance, in my opinion. Thanks again for the starter kit!
