There are 2 L5P coolers, 17-19 and 20+. I used the 17-19 because the oil filter is larger, but it's still an upgrade for my LLY. I believe the 01-16 use the same oil cooler.
Thanks Paul. Happy New Year to you as well. I'll let him know not to be so camera shy next time. 😜 Thanks for watching and for continuing to follow along. Mike
Extremely helpful....could you please share with me the model or brand of coolant system vacuum tool setup you are using. That must be the next tool I get.....makes perfect sense! Thanks for everything.
@@zmotorsports62 Thanks for the quick reply.....apologies but a follow up. Are you using any adapters for the coolant tank neck or just what comes with the kit? Seen "special" duramax adapters....curious if that is needed. Thanks again
@@zmotorsports62 Thanks! You are too kind to indulge my question(s). I have one more please? If you get a minute could you provide the part number for what you are using for an adapter. I ask because I have looked for several hours over the last two days and can only return hits for the adapter for a 2017 or newer. I have a 2006 like yours. I did find a snap-on adapter TA36GM/TAB10036 but it just says "All GM models w/male threads on filler neck". On the surface, seems/sounds like it is what I need....reality is....luck does not follow me that way though....lol.
I think this is the cherry part number for the 2001-2017 GM Duramax plus many other GM vehicles. Stant 12032. Stant 12032 Cooling System Adapter, metallic a.co/d/9qtAEwk
@zmotorsports62 just removed mine today. I think the difference may be I removed the front driveshaft yolk. Have to replace the seal anyways. Clean lb7. They are getting harder to find unmolested
Mike, thanks for sharing the installation of the Banks Oil Cooler Upgrade Kit. We look forward to your next video!
Thank you for watching and for the kind words. The kit was complete and very well put together.
Mike

Safe travels my friend.

Good job, you are a very competent mechanic. They say the newer oil cooler will not fit in an LMM? Has anyone tried to modify the area to make it fit?
I have to say , that was one of the most informative n thorough video . Mine just started a internal leak n I just the Banks set up . Thank you
Thank you for the kind words and thank you for taking the time to watch. I'm glad the video was informative and helpful.

Nice upgrade. Good to see your son in the shop helping. He should say hello next time.

Thank you. I appreciate you continuing to watch.

Mike, would have loved to see the separation between the front dif-yoke and the new oil cooler housing, thanks anyway. Victor
Sorry, it's tight but no fear of contacting. At least 3/8" at the closest point with the yoke.
Thanks for watching.
Mike
May have to get this done on my 03, coolant slowly leaks ; and they are small amount of oil in my coolant reservoir tank !
I can’t see where it leaks from, there arent any spots on my driveway too!
They can leak internally as well. This one was easier to locate as it leaked outside.
Thanks for taking the time to watch.
Mike
Mines doing the same now

@user-is6rj5fl2b the tester does require the adapter for the Duramax.

Mike
Where do you live i need this!?
Sorry, I'm not taking on any additional side work at this time until I get caught up.
Thank you for watching.
Mike
You DO NOT have to remove or loosen the diff to remove the old one.
Maybe not, but it sure made the job a hell of a lot easier.

Yeah, removing the front yoke would give about the same space as lowering the axle.
Thanks for watching.
