How to test the Resistance of your Guitar Pickups with a Multimeter... it is pretty easy to do!

- Testing your pickups with a multimeter is a good way to see if they are working properly and it will tell you the resistance in OHMS. This reading does not directly correlate to the output of the pickup - the number of windings, type of magnet, construction, etc. - all contribute to the overall output of the pickup. You can also use the multi-meter to test for continuity and ground issues. Enjoy the video!
(Do you remember the Borg? Star Trek Next Generation: "Resistance is Futile"... I don't think they were talking about guitar pickups!)

This channel has quickly become my go to for all things setup & maintenance related. Thank you.
Thanks! These little “Devil in the details” tech segments are much appreciated.
Thanks for this straightforward and thorough lesson. Much appreciated.
Great Vid, super easy to follow, very useful!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I hope you have subbed to my channel as well?
Learnt something today and that’s always a good day 👍
Awesome! I hope you have subscribed to my channel too?
Isn’t that only valid with a passive pickup setup?
Correct- active pickups give crazy readings 😁
All I have is 200kohms setting. It’s reading 103.5 on the bridge pickup. Any suggestions. First time checking this stuff?
Make sure you set the volume pots to max (10) before measuring, or you will get a completely invalid number. That's likely where you went wrong.
You should explain how to connect alligator clips to multimeter leads.
They came with the multimeter 😁
WOw! thanks so much and God Bless you and your work.
Surely you mean KILO ohms.
Might want to shorten your intro.
