Next Saturday, we can all sit back and enjoy Eurovision in whatever languages. I love it and it's great to see all the countries competing. We will see if Greece makes it into the top five. Kala tiki Hellas.
It is difficult to learn ancient Greek, yes, but it's important to know it, so that you will learn the past of this language, the roots of the words and their meanings.
The Grammar actually makes quite a lot of sense once you've familiarized yourslelf with it, but the language is indeed fantastic. I know right? It's like we've ever used it or we're all archeologists and shit.
I would prefer singing songs in your own language rather than in english, too, but I dont think that Greece is better or worse than English. How would you count that? Is there a ranking of languages???
Yes, but look at Italian, French, Spain, German, andd so on, they all base on Latin for a great part and you wouldnt call them a "bad language", wouldn´t you?
Yes true, but that was not Greece but Serbia.. I was generalising, anyway we will see. This entry is quite traditional and therefore may not appeal to a widier audience. It's very folky.
haha it's the only song that makes you want to get up and dance. The others make you sleep at least most of them. So no matter the language it has very good chances
greek launguage is much better than english..but english is more popular launguage thats why every coutry goew to the competintion with song in english
Are you crazy? I love Greece and its traditional music but this is Eurovision and these type of songs don't do well.Whether you like it or not generally English is the winning language that most countries choose. Get over it, I am not racist. When Paparizou won her song was exceptionally catchy and very good for dancing, the UK awarded it 12 points.
Kai as ginete oti ginete sti xwra mas, emeis tin trela mas den tin xanoume kai den 9a tin xasoume pote!!! Auto to tragoudi to epivevewnei auto pou lew :)
Damn true. It's "I Elliniki" not "Tin" btw, you need practice, and if you think this is difficult, try learning ANCIENT Greek, like all school-children in Greece have to, it's fucking torture!

By "kala tiki" did you mean to wish "good luck" in Greek? Because if so, you should know it's actually "kali tihi", and thank you very much.

I didn't mention anything about "good" or "bad" languages, cause there's not such a thing. I just stated a fact.
Απο πού βγήκε αυτό το συμπέρασμα πάλι;;
I think that you are wrong, for example "molitva" won in 2007
Αυτό το τραγούδι Κύριοι,δεν εκπροσωπεί μόνο την Ελλάδα,αλά και όλα τα Βαλκάνια.Νομίζω ?

There is no "english" language. "English" vocabulary is comprised of 66% latin and 33% greek. It's a fact and you can look it up on google.
Yes, but look at Italian, French, Spain, German, andd so on, they all base on Latin for a great part and you wouldnt call them a "bad language", wouldn´t you?
In the UK, only the private schools offer Ancient Greek and Latin.

No actually "kala" is the proverb or the plural of the neutral gender. You're welcome!
Who cares about the problems in greece. Jusg about all of europe is in the same boat. Good Greece can still enjoy music and send an awesome song.

Serbia took tha 2nd place in 2004 with Zeljko Joksimovic..
I do love the language but the grammar is impossible. Greek children still have to learn Classical Greek? How tedious!
