Thanks to all who have supported and believed in me! It’s hard to go against the grain (pun) and be the weird one in the crowd but it’s a lot easier when you got a few believers behind you. Thanks again Ben for doing the vlog! I am truly honored that you did that. Totally didn’t expect that! We all know you’re a very talented surfer/worldwide celebrity/semi-pro but, better than that, you’re a man of your word and world class human. Thankful we have you to keep the fun in surfing! 😊
Yeah man! lol this is Pate I'm on my moms computer (Jayna's working with ours atm ) Anyway dude you deserve it and truly appreciate your work and your commitment especially the comment you posted here it's a great representation of the boys here at home
Xylem - "Remains Hard in even the wettest conditions." The OG Synthetic Morning Wood - Ride it all day - Stays Hard for Play! Ben, get that Xylem spokesman gravy!
Ben outstanding session with the board. Ive surfed for 55yrs. And had to hang it up in 2015 broken body gave up. But over the years ive had surf with similar type boards and had total stoke and thats what its all about. Love your videos great job. Kd. Oside cali.
Could not agree more, when the face recedes so should the fins. It will strengthen your toes, and inform your movement over the centerline. Gravy gets it, thanks for sharing another aspect to board riding. You are an apostle of the oceans 🙏🏽 god bless🤙🏽
When I was a kid I would have ridden anything to get into the waves - couldn't begin to afford a board. Besides that my mom was convinced if I did get a board I''d just turn into a beach bum. Well after a long career in aerospace I retired moved to North San Diego county and now mostly surf. I guess in a way she was right - moms usually are LOL. Yes this was a very fun video1 Very interesting "spin" on the Alaia board.
That was way cool of Josh to make that for you, and the included letter was cool too….fun to watch you drop in & glide down the line & pull off that mini floater & numerous 360’s on a rectangular piece of Hawaiian wood, the “King Of Novelty” showing us how it’s done on “wood”…great video!…two questions, was that Mama Gravy towards the end? & how much does the wood weigh?
Reminds me of the 3ft wide, 4ft long plywood skimboard I experimented with in the early 80's, rode some lil waves on it, yours worked better than mine, lol.....also made a 6ft tandem skim, 80's Fla really was the best....of course today is better!!!
You did great, but I think that kind of board demands waves a bit bigger to work properly. Having said that, I love the idea of trying out a simple wood square surfboard.
Super fun video Ben! Reminds me of the videos I used to watch way back when I first started watching you in May of 2017! Very nice of you to devote the whole vlog to Josh's board. Looks like a lot of fun!...keeping with the novelty theme of years gone by. Good for you! God bless and Cheers from Nova Scotia, John 😉
lol I'm on my moms computer but anyway this is Pate haha I had to come give some props to Josh and for our hometown yeeeeew! Well technically we're 20 minutes from Wilmington in OIB but still stoked
Reminds me of my Sunova Slider that I surfed this morning. Was still surfing short boards and also giant waves in my seventies but at 75yo decided to go Gut Sliders, very square shape similar to bodyboard.
Coffee table and work bench that you could ride waves with. You could also use it to cover holes in your yard while landscaping. Bring it to JOB and ride the drain maybe?
I can appreciate the craftsmanship and you giving it your best but holy cow… the kinetic energy all brought to bear on those thin rails if you fall wrong is a nasty injury waiting to happen. First thing I thought of when you opened it up.
Its a cross between a Paipo and an Alaia both are traditional Hawaiian surfcraft ... Check out Tom Wegner he has been shaping them for almost 20 years. He has a lot of vids of how to get the best out of them. I think there's a video of Dave Rastavich riding one too he shreds on it .
It’s kind of head high out there, if you get down on one knee and swivel around like a dingleberry as you try to dance with the one woman who truly satisfies you
Not being disrespectful, but how come your opening trailer shows you riding all sorts of exotic waves around the world , and you never seem to leave New Jersey anymore?
Understandable question. You may not be an avid viewer or been watching for long, but I had a complete tear of my left bicep tendon in February. I only got cleared to surf “Waves of consequence” on September 3rd. I have a lot of travel plans for October already, but sometimes life slows down. That’s just how it is, I’ve been working on embracing this year for what it is. Thanks

Yeah that was my mom! It probably weighs like 10lbs. Thanks!

Great to hear Makki's dulcet tones again , another great vlog Ben .
You did great, but I think that kind of board demands waves a bit bigger to work properly. Having said that, I love the idea of trying out a simple wood square surfboard.
So great to see you surfing with your mom on a have of a door. Kids..go brother.
Great to see you mostly grinding it out in Joyzee. This appeals to your base. Appears like your door board could use a little kick in the noes.

Haha

Bring it to JOB and ride the drain maybe?
Yup, he's riding a door
Someone musta' mentioned by now that xylem is "wood" in tree physiology
First I’ve heard that! Super cool
True! It’s the living part of the tree just under the bark and on some trees you can actually eat it!
Ben riding that, meanwhile palm beach Perry looking like hes on the qs grind haha
Haha still looking for that 5 to advance 27 years later
the thick log
I think Blair needs to ride that giant wooden skimboard.
Yes!
That's so cool
💦💙
Oh and go DENNIS

Did Mr. Gravy get inspired by JOB surfing on a Pella window a few years ago for a promo? Hmm ... No Matter, always fun to drop in on a BG adventure.
Lolz Makki’s laugh

Honestly it’s no worse than a fin. I’ve had a few shin busters but nothing gnarly. I just don’t fall😁…(false)
Caveman era board. 😂 crazy

Hey Ben , you have gotten this question a hundred times. Can it float?
@@billsmith1359 it floats yeah!
Confirmed. She floats enough to get the job done!
I don’t see a hurricane forming at all in the next 10 days. Did you record this a while ago?

🤔don’t know. It floats enough to paddle and catch waves most of the time. I would say it’s better to paddle compared to a traditional Alaia.
you dont get free redbull? they only cost 13 cents to make.
Why would you drink it.
