Thank you for showing the good and the slightly bad by not cutting those concerns out. It is part of the education for those who want to enjoy the historical places. Especially out in the middle of nowhere. Must have Fuel and where to get it. Must have water, Food, Cash, and time along with weather conditions (flash floods).
I always make it a point to stop and check out all the old forts I find. That one is pretty cool! Love seeing all the old petroglyphs out west as well.
The expansiveness of the vistas....i can feel the hot breezes. Just love that old photo of the folks in period attire. Imagine as a woman wearing those dresses in the heat! A whole different world from ours, that's for sure. Thanks for the tour! 😊
I honestly have no idea how women managed in the past with the many layers they wore. Seems like it would have been fairly miserable especially in hotter climates. 🥵
Great road trip, Catus! Nevada is a state that think is so intriguing, but traveling off the beaten path makes me nervous in that State for some reason 😬 So I really enjoy watching others road tripping there! 😊
Fort Churchill was certainly an 'out post', the people that endured it definitely had 'fortitude' (🤭 sorry forgive the pun) I would imagine the indigenous People of the area weren't particularly overjoyed either with their new neighbors. Thats history for ya!! Very interesting though Glenn snd Amy, thank you for the ride along 😊 Love always 💛✨
Thanks! Sadly a lot of history has both good and bad and though not pleasant it's a shame not to talk about both sides. And I love a good pun so feel free to bring them on! 😄
There has been considerable restoration done over the decades. The maintenance areas consist of preservation of the exterior of the adobe bricks with a flat and smooth layer as it would have looked originally. The top of all the walls have also had this layer added later to prevent further deterioration of the walls. The small sections that look like modern bricks are exactly that. These modern bricks are used to ensure the stability and safety of the larger original walls. If my memory serves me correctly there was considerable work done on the ruins in the late 80's and early 1990's to stop the deterioration at that point. The maintenance continues to this day as the ruins look the same or better than they did 40 years ago. Ft Churchill SHP is a wonderful place to visit for those that love the high desert, sagebrush and history (and the Scarab / June beetle). Edit. Those signs at the start of every trail state and has been standard there for many decades: Warning Due to the structural integrity of the ruins and safety concerns entering the buildings is prohibited. Please stay on the trails. Efforts are underway to restore ruins to a condition of structural safety and historical accuracy. (Want to learn more then talk to a ranger)
Those were some very interesting adobe structures. As you were explaining why they built them, all that kept playing I my head was the fake town of Rock Ridge that they built in Blazing Saddles...maybe it's just me. 😂 Thanks as always and looking forward to the next one!
weather is awesome but it was nt that much worthy since there is not intresting mysterios stories behind it .although just assumptions. but i guess worth to have some pictures of it as keepsake .
Hmm. You did it in both videos. Please don't do whatever you want just because you are holding a camera and sharing. If everyone thought they were "special" and had this NFG attitude towards restricted areas then everything would look like thise urban areas you dislike so much. Please have some respect and moreso because you are setting an example. This is why. Those signs at the start of every trail state and has been standard there and many other public locations for many decades: Warning Due to the structural integrity of the ruins and safety concerns entering the buildings is prohibited. Please stay on the trails. Efforts are underway to restore ruins to a condition of structural safety and historical accuracy. (Want to learn more then talk to a ranger) Sometimes it's for safety and sometimes it is for keeping a location enduring for all to see. Either way, please, if anyone wants to keep enjoying locations such as Ft. Churchill SHP and many others just follow the rules so they don't become completely off limits to everyone forever.

I love imagining what life was like back then, and it makes me appreciate how much easier life is these days.

It wasn't till I returned to Colo, that I saw Churchill, and I was in Dayton, Virginia City, Grimes. Wish I had known. Great videos, keep it up !
All very cool places! Thank you so much! 😊
I agree. Utah is a fabulous state. But I’m thinking the same. To many things to see
Oh, yeah. You'd need a good couple of weeks to hit everything in Utah you'd want to see and that still likely cover it! 😅

I can understand. Some of the most remote places I’ve been in a long time!

Last time I was in Nevada I saw lots of Indian artifacts. Mostly it was just broken whiskey bottles beer bottles and wine bottles

Don't touch it, it said?? Your oil on your skin will help destroy the rock.
