I love this! At home my weird little 'leftover projects' are always a favorite. There is something joyful about every color of 'scrap' getting used together in a new way.
Love your videos. So calming. I've inherited loads of threads and now I'm finally using some up to make zokins. But I've been throwing away the small bits of thread😬. Going to save them from now on.
awesome job there! what really gets me is the fabric the thread is being sown into. all the work that went into making a fabric sheet to sow patterns into. one of the many wonders crafting!
Thank you😊 I also love looking at someone else’s handmade items. When you think about the time and effort to make one item, it really makes it one of a kind!
I have a very old cookie tin that I save my short and leftover thread and it is amazing how often I end up using pieces from it for little projects. I love the mat you made with embroidery thread about two minutes into the video, but then there are so many of your things I love. I thought of you today as I was working on an antique quilt (not mine) that has some serious aging issues and it is the larger holes I am working on that need to be patched with some light flannel pieces and I thought of doing some Sashiko mending stitches to give it a little more strength. My plate is so full of the many projects that were put off during the time my son in law was in intensive care. Life is slowly getting back to somewhat normal and now I need to take care of me by doing some stitching and quilting. I am so glad you show up on my reminder "bell" and nudge me on to do something creative. Thank you🤍
Oh I’d love to see the quilt😍 I was thinking about you too as I was using the Tatewaku tea towel in the kitchen today😊 I’m glad to hear that you’re gradually getting back to crafting💕💕💕
sooo soothing 💞 Thank you so much for providing thid to us. Honestly, I turned off the music, that's what I often do, so please, dont feel bothered. Love your stitching place & project💞
That sashi tsugi is a great way to practice even stitches. I like how you have your embroidery threads hanging on a board. Have you ever thought of giving us a tour of your craft corner? I can't leave anything in plain sight. We have a furry little thief, and my craft accessories would end up in my daughter's room.
After watching one of your videos a few months ago, I stitched my first zookin, cutting up old IKEA dish cloths. The off white ones with red stripes that sold for 79¢ long ago. I also used thrifted thread from St Vincent de Paul thrift store. A whole quart size Ziploc bag of cotton thread wooden spools for $2. Such pretty autumn colors with a fuchsia included. After watching this video, I'm inspired to stitch a zookin with a fuchsia heart amidst rows of soft greys, bronze, copper and forest green. Thank you for sharing 🍄🍄
I love watching your videos. I learned a lot about Sashiko. This is a new and creative outlet for me. It reminds me to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!!!
I love how much recycling/upcycling you do and how many natural fabrics and materials you use. Thank you for being so respectful to our ole' Earth. Those coasters are wonderful!
Thank you for sharing this delightful afternoon with us. Your work is soothing and lovely. Now I have some inspirations about how to use my "bonus" pieces that were made without any project in mind.
Very nice! I like that you reuse things and the projects turned out very pretty and useful. Thank you for sharing your girl kitty! We have three boys who live in our RV with us
Wow, you’ve noticed it😊 This idea was from the bag! I just love the feel of the bag so I wanted to do more👍 Did you also notice that my stitching skills with the thimble have improved?😆
Your videos make me so happy. And they are soothing as well. Question, do you ever gift any of your projects to friends or family? If so, I would love to hear about that. Thank you so much!!
Thank you! Yes, I make gifts with Sashiko😊 A set of coasters is often easy to make. I also make tea towels. I use a furoshiki and azuma bag to wrap a gift as well😊
Thank you💕💕 That’s a good idea😊 I should also record some bits of my personal projects too! The mat is from this video if you’re interested😊⬇️ Your next slow stitching project? Stitching a geometric pattern with colours! th-cam.com/video/RXAfKYGz9r0/w-d-xo.html
Sorry😅 I have many duplicates which I got from thrift stores, so I’m keeping them in the jar until I finish using the current ones. I got a jar full of thread just for AU$8😆
Could you please let me know where you got your finger thimble from as it looks a really good one. Thank you so much for all the lovely videos. You are such an inspiration. X
Hi! The thimble is a Japanese thimble for short needles. You can get it from Clover. The name is ‘leather thimble’ and comes with 2 thimbles😊 It’s a very common thimble in Japan and there are a few different types. You may be able to find it from other brands if you search ‘Japanese thimble’👍
I am full of admiration for those who save all their crafting scraps but in all honesty, I just can't, my house is already full enough that I cannot save everything, no matter how much I want to. Don't get me wrong, I don't throw away everything, but I do have to draw the line somewhere. I particularly like the blues, yellows and greens coaster.
I really understand what you mean! I used to sew a lot of clothes for my daughters and I kept buying so much fabric. It became too much for me at some stage, and now I rarely buy new fabrics. Even when I buy them, I only buy a small amount of plain fabric. So it’s not like I’ve been doing this from first, but it’s just how it became after going through many phases😊
This is a Japanese traditional thimble for shorter needles. It’s very common in Japan. Clover has some types of these thimbles. You can make one with some leather too. In other videos, I often use a thimble for longer needles. I like using one which I made by myself. Here’s the tutorial for making a thimble, if you’re interested😊⬇️ DIY Sashiko thimble making (Part 2) with a metal covered button kit th-cam.com/video/h3ghKK5V5I4/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful work! Do they call those mug rugs? I’m new to slow stitch terms. Coasters are what I’m used to but I’ve heard them called something different. Tysm. ❤
The rhythm of the stitches is like a heartbeat! ❤
Thank you so much😊💕💕

I love weird little leftover projects😆 Every little piece of scrap has some ‘potential’, right?
Love your videos. So calming. I've inherited loads of threads and now I'm finally using some up to make zokins. But I've been throwing away the small bits of thread😬. Going to save them from now on.
That’s so nice! Slow stitching is a great opportunity to think about someone special too. I think about my grandma often😊

Ooh, I would love a desk tour too! Maybe when there’s just not enough time for a sewing project
It’s a tiny craft corner but if you’re interested, I will think about it😆

They are so delightful! I think the bright colours work really well with the dense stitching and are perfect for a small item like a coaster.
Thank you😊💕💕

I love the small stitching and for me, it is all about the stitching rather than the end make 😊❤
I agree! I really enjoyed this project😊
Beautiful - lots of fun wonderful projects ❤️
Thank you💕💕
I love them. I love the simplicity and beauty. ❤️
Thank you😊💕💕
That’s such a useful way to use up fabric and thread remnants. They turned out so attractive. They remind me of your sun and moon drawstring bag.
Wow, you’ve noticed it😊 This idea was from the bag! I just love the feel of the bag so I wanted to do more👍 Did you also notice that my stitching skills with the thimble have improved?😆
@ yes! I’m still a little weirded out by the bent finger thimble, but your stitching is so even and smooth. It looks really good
These are very pretty. Such a great way to use leftovers. I really like your modern version of pegboard, too. :)
Oh thank you😊 I always felt that my desk was not as interesting as other people’s beautiful craft rooms, so I hadn’t shown it😅
@@thegreenwrapper My pleasure. :)

The putting the spare threads in a jar just bothers me, I have to wind mine back onto bobbins. 😂

For me, it would be easier to stitch with the usual (sashiko) thimble😅 but I’m practicing with this thimble at the moment. I think I’m getting better😆
Wonderful. I love this. What "thimble" are you using? I just can't seem to find one that works for me

What is that green mat you put the clothes on to cut the fabrics? thanks ❤
That’s a general cutting mat which you can find at craft stores😊
