Wow I remember watching your show every day on PBS. I was so into it because I was so into art. We ordered one of your kits that taught how to paint flowers, and I remember a book with a big rabbit. It came with a bunch of paints and brushes and a Richeson easel. I still have the easel and it's still in great condition. I think it was 12 or 13 years ago when we ordered it.
I finally found the artist I used to watch the videos from when I was a 8 year old. I loved the show, ive been researching trying to find you but nothing came out but Bob Ross. I finally came across your art books and it click, I immediately recognized the art style and your picture. I am so happy !
I remember Donna Dewberry as a child. My teachers throughout elementary school would show us her videos during art class. I'm still in awe after all of these years.
I've been painting now for over a year now and I've never seen flowers or even painted any that look so beautiful and seem so simple to create. I did the honor of treating myself to a 50$ Donna Dewberry kit on how to make these same flowers. It'll be here tomorrow!!! I'm stoked!!!!
Donna first came to know you watching you on the Creative channel then lost you and was so disappointed. But now I have found u on U tube and have saved u to favorites. Watching u got me started in art, u were my inspiration. Love your one stroke style and u are a great teacher. Great to be back with you.
i tried this technique with a very soft and smooth brush and i was amazed by the results. thankyou for teaching this technique...i always paint roses like that now :)
I love this. I've been trying to paint roses for ages. My 5 year old daughter also. You make it look so easy. We are going to watch this together and we'll let you know how we get on. (my daughter is brilliant at art and I can't wait for her to try this). I think a lot of practice for both of us though!!!!
Gosh!!! You make it looks SO easy! Practice Practice Practice!!! Your painting is just lovely and I just LOVE roses, especially those big cabbage roses! Thank you for the instructions and I will try to perfect my brush strokes,,, just like you! Thanx~
Excellent! I tried...Unfortunately, I do not have any painting skill/talent at all...none. My niece and great niece (5 yo) are both very artistic. their pieces should be displayed in a gallery. thanks Donna.
I remember watching her as a kid and honestly believing her name was "Rose Art" and that the colored pencil brand was named after her. I totally forgot about the white paint at the end. It's no wonder I love going over my colored pencil drawing in the same way with white gel pens! Haha It must be an aesthetic I gleaned subconsciously from her and stuck with me all this time. :)
This is acrylic paint. I just took a class at my local craft store, and it was very easy, though I'm not nearly as fast or as good as Donna. :-) You'll want an acrylic craft paint that isn't too runny. My instructor recommended Folk Art, but there are many good brands out there. We just used regular scrapbook paper to practice on, then attached it to card stock to make a pretty greeting card.
Holy crap that's amazing! I am sooo glad I clicked on this youtube page...It never occured to me to use more than one colour on the brush at one time, how simple. I am going to have to watch all of the others now. Feel free ot look at my portfolio. Much love. xxx
Yes, in Indonesia have producted batik fabrics in painting brush tecnique for long time ago. Mostly the batik fabrics produce in the cities, like Solo and Yogyakarta, in the central of Java.
AMAZING.......!!!!! WOW........!!!! i love how you did everything is such a short time, and it turned out to be GREAT!! thanks for posting this video, i learned a lot.
I bought acrylic paints and brushes and started to paint. At first it seemed to me a very difficult thing to do,but as it appeared it isn't very hard. Now my cabbage roses are almost as beatiful as Donna's. The disadvantage is that you can't buy all this painting kits made by Donna in my country. Thanks for posting that vid!Just try to paint!
For those of you wondering where you find these paints. If I'm not mistaken, this is her brand of paints that were developed for her (to use and sell of course). You can find "Folk Art" brand (in the USA) in MIchaels, Pearle, probably Joanne's, Hobby Lobby (anywhere where they sell "paint" kits, etc... Hope that was helpful!!
I love how your brush seems so natural in your hand are there any other video that will help me understand how to you the flat brush to create flowers.
Acrylics by Plaid, I myself like liquitex basics which is for painting students, they also come in Professional mediums, but they are really smoothe and rich in color, they also blend quite nice.
She makes it look sooooo easy! What an artist!
I used to watch her when I was about 8, brings back so many weekend morning memories!
