Buenas en mi caso con Montero SPORT 2018 me dió ese problema. Hice lo siguiente: quite la batería del motor limpie bien los contactos y la coloque nuevamente fijé bien los postes de la batería, cambie la batería del control (llave) y así arregle el problema. Hasta el momento no lo he tenido nuevamente.
Thou this is a 3 years ago it might help other with the same case. Check your fuse in the fuse section under the dash/ steering area. Look for the red fuse located in the yellow plastic slot with with amperes rating. Probably its a busted fuse.
Realmente es un problema eléctrico y el sistema se bloquea automáticamente para proteger el vehículo, puede ser causado por varias razones hasta un fusible dañado en el panel de fusibles puede causar este bloqueo por lo que les recomiendo primero revisar baterías del motor y batería de la llave, si esto no resuelve el problema revisar los fusibles en el ambos paneles de fusible en qué está debajo del timón y el que está en el lado del motor por la computadora si todo está en perfectas condiciones en esta revisión entonces si debes llevarlo a la agencia
I had the same issue just now. The car started by itself, music ad lights came on on it's own. Removed the battery cable, hoping it will flush out any static charges and will try in the morning. Anyone else found a fix?
May be this also could help you, I already solved the problem. Cek your on off switch button connection, on off switch button condition and fuse in yellow box under the dash. For normal condition, only need 1 click
I have the same electrical problem but with the following issue; Once the vehicle is standing in the sun for a while and the cab heats up, once trying to start the car the Radio is switched off with the same error, once the cab cools down the Radio will switch on and the error will reset by itself....please assist with a solution.
Its a wiring issue with the radio connector probably, get then checked, one lose wire can cause this. Disconnect the radio and it should be fine. Then get the radios jumper connector fixed. Hope this helps.

That is low battery, you need to replace car battery if voltage is below 12v. That's is proven for many users since 2016
where your Montero country of assembly line?
Try to long press the start button. Then u dont have to put ur key to slot.
I think I didn't try that. Any feedback on usual electrical problems ?

Same problem here. When its too hot outside. But after driving for couple of minutes it will be back to normal.

In my car it was the connection of the head unit/ stereo that came loose after a bit of off roading.
