As someone who wrestles. Superlek has some wrestling fundamentals. Inside ties, hard collar ties, pushing and pulling, over hooks. Really nice stuff to see typically most MT fighters just rely on a double collar tie (Muay Thai plum) clinch.
pipe down lol, he just has muay thai fundamentals, MT fighters dont rely on double collar tie and the fact that you think they do lets everyone know that you have no idea how MT works
The thing is that we don't get to see a lot of clinching in One FC, the refs break it up after a few seconds. Which is unfortunate because the smaller gloves are perfetly suited for it. Thanks for the video, Shane! ✌🏻
@@nemoatlantis7148 Fair, but just like they do with requiring it to be active and moving w/ ground work in places like UFC, a rule requirement to stay active/progressing or get broken up would allow that set of fighters to employ their skills, without it being boring.

Thai Clinch is something so amazing, It's like an entire style inside of Muay Thai itself, there are so many things you could do... If grappling and striking had a son it would be Thai Clinch, seriously...
I'd really like to see and version of Muay Thai and Judo mixed together, I heard the Thai clinch came from judo which makes sense cause they're so similar just with different goals and rules, but seeing the Muay Thai clinch with judo allowed would be so cool, or Judo with Muay Thai's clinch striking. But if they did should it be in a Gi? Or Muay Thai shorts? Being able to grab the Gi and throw knees and elbows sounds terrifying lol. And even without, a sport of only clinching and takedowns but with strikes added would probably result in a lot of people getting cte Would still be cool though imo Like Imagine seeing an elbow to set up a Judo throw, or countering a throw with a sweep or trip, idk, the possibilities just seem so fascinating to think about imo
@Organicwatermelon123 Some takedowns are allowed in Thai clinch, like simple leg sweeping and some simple "hip throws" (Like a Tai Otochi but using the hip to make your opponent stumble) plus I think you could also do Osotogari
Clinching has so much nuance. I started in boxing (medaling in multiple regional & national tourneys as an ammy) and moved to MT and the clinch is a complicated puzzle. I'm almost in my 40s and my competition career is behind me, but fully understanding the clinch game is a hell of a thing.

That’s what key board warriors don’t get. Professional fighters might look skinny or lean but every bit of that is functional muscles meant for fighting. All of these guys, be it flyweight or lightweight, are pound for pound much stronger than someone their size should be.
My friend got a professional thai fight for he's 14th birthday after only training for three months but he's a black belt in tkd and has trained kickboxing for a few years he won by turn side kick /spinning back kick mix to the liver and gave the thai who lost the price money ..thai boy was 18 months older and looked stronger but was a half head shorter
Superlek is superb. You should have challenged his impeccable clinch using lateral movements rather than trying to find balance on the back foot. Easier said than done, I guess😂

Well he took out Haggerty in 49 seconds. Crazy
This is why the west prevents clinching against thai fighters. They're simply too good in the holds, elbows and knees
In one elbow as well.
Deceptively strong is the best way to describe elite Muay thai fighters. They got the skinny strong power
They build just the right muscles for the job
It's more of that bone density power that's more terrifying!
I can't even imagine how helpless I'd feel lol. Must've been an awesome experience that grip strength is crazy
Fortunately for you mate u wouldn't need to imagine long. You'd be out cold in seconds
