    Steve, I went out yesterday and caught 26. Chatterbait in the early morning as the tide was almost at the top and Senkos after that. I took your advice about the rocky banks and tullies. I didn't have the weights you showed so I used some finish nails. They helped since it was a bit breezy.

      Thanks for watching. I may need to apologize, went out after the video and put my plan into place-ready to continue my hot streak-and wham, the fish did not cooperate. Try it again this afternoon and see what happens. May need to make another video.

    Thanks Steve great report great tips I have been struggling a little bit lately but usually catch a couple good fish in the 3 to 4 lb range each trip but they seem to be fewer and farther between then they were a couple weeks ago for me.

      Thanks for watching Rob, the bass are still spawning so we will contin to have post spawn females recovering from having babys. Think of groups of the bigger females coming in flights as they recover. It takes about 2 weeks before they really start moving around and feeding so we will see up's and down's as the fish spawn. They get easy to catch at first, as they get there bellies full they are able to slow there feeding. As summer go's on and the spawn ends and all the females have recovered the bite will be more consistent, they will be harder to catch, but more consistent.

    Doug Hannon may be the Bass Professor, but Steve Cooper is the Delta’s favorite Bass Coach! This was awesome! Seriously, nobody does this. Great, great video and a big ol’ heart for your audience. No inflated freaking ego, just an excellent fisherman who wants you to be successful and have fun. All the best to you Coach!

    If you have a seminar at The Bass Hole my dad and I are totally there. We watch all your videos and we definitely need confidence.
    You should set something up with a set price per person and I'm sure a lot of people will show up.

      The Alberto knot for braid to mono. Check out my video The Ultimate Aldbrto Knot. I use mono for its abrasion resistance and knot strength. Check out Salt Strong on youtube-they have some great videos on knots and line test.

    Steve, pitching and flipping are very difficult from a kayak. I am 76 years old and do not stand in my kayak. Over hand casting and side casting are all I can really do. Some times you have to live with the confines of the fishing style you choose. I agree, side casting is more accurate for finess fishing. Pitching and flipping - No. Also, punching does not work when you are low to the water.

    • @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997
      @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry Scott, I totally forgot to mention my kayak friends. I would be the best side are and skiping caster I could be if fishing from a kayak. I wouuld also try and use every advantage a kayak offers as to boat position, but you are 100% right about casting from kayaks. It's not easy.

    Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge of Delta fishing. I have struggled finding good fishing spots and your experience is enlightening to help us understand the best practices for fishing here in the Delta. Rocks and Tule’s . Breaks in the tule’s. Point's and current. . Now for some more good fishing!

    Steve, just an amazing tutorial on how to fish the Delta. Many many thanks. And so many resulting questions, but a couple of things jumped out at me. On the wacky rig, why the neko weight instead of a weighted wacky hook such as VMC? Different action? Won't it get down just as fast? And Max Ultragreen! Not fluoro? At one time I used Ultragreen for everything, but doesn't fluoro sink better and more abrasion resistant? Finally, I am in SoCal, but if I were in town and available, I would consider driving up to attend the informal get together you spoke about. With 10K followers you could run for public office (but who would want to?).Thanks again.

    The delta has to be the most target specific fishery in Northern CA. You’ve got to put the bait where the fish are. You aren’t just blindly combing a bait out into oblivion.

    Awesome advice as always, your getting me fired up , Ill be down for my annual trip in just over a week. Staying at Windmill this time so will be on the lookout for you around Paradise.
    What size weight are you using on the Neko rig? Also I have a Bbq buisness and if you do the Meet and Greet I would be down to cook the food depending on the weekend you choose.
    Tight Lines as always

    Yes I’m sad… N yes I believe the delta holds bigger bass than Texas.
    I don’t think people find the Giant for a reason.
    We have caught really big ones on cut bait and live bait.
    Texas may have bigger bass ???.

    Great video Steve and very helpful for experience or novice anglers alike!
    I love fishing dropshot around tule bunches or sparse reeds.
    The wacky rig is good in the troughs on a higher tide to reduce snagging weights on the rocks.
    Texas rig I like to fish them on flats and against weed lines or clumps of weeds.
    I’m a slow fisherman at heart so when I go to use finesse I am sometimes too patient on my approach haha.

    I have a few leaks on the bottom where the rivets are….Both sides. My boats jacked up to one side @ the moment.
    I have some stuff that really works and last for the rivets..it’s just ugly and takes away from my undersides smoothnesses.
    Nothing crazy.
    I know it doesn’t take much for the water to catch it and take speed away.
    My boat isn’t that fast…not bass boat fast.
    I’ll need a seadoo for that Steve… 💦
    I do have a few stories that aren’t stories 4 Ya Coop!

    Great gear and technique tips, Coop!!! I find that Low Tide is what separates the Delta Hammers from the weekend and novice anglers. With the baits you mentioned, what’s you’re advice on fishing them during low tide when the fish have pulled off the bank/tullies?

    • @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997
      @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Fishing low tide is in some ways very different from fishing high tide and some ways the same. My take is that the fish hold in the same type of cover, just further off shore. You just need to look at the water and adapt you high tide techniques to fish low tide.

    Hey Steve! I went out today after I watched your report yesterday and I had high hopes. I was majorly let down. I’ve fished the delta since I was very young and I’d like to think I have it somewhat figured out. I caught about 6 bass less than a point and that was it. I’m not sure what to do anymore.

    • @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997
      @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hope this helps. I went out just after filming the video and also had a big let down. Every thing was lined up perfectly and I laid an egg. The fish just did not cooperate. No big bites, lots of missed bites, fish were not commiting to the baits. Your slow day did not have anything to do with how you were fishing, the fish, for what ever reason, just did not cooperate. Keep at it and let me know how you do. I may be eating crow on my next report.

    What is you standard weight to pitch a worm with a bait caster?
    I am an amataur with both flipping and baitcasters.

    • @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997
      @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I90 percent of the time I am pitching a 5 or 6 in unweighted senko. A small nail weight to add a small amount of weight will make it easier to practice when you’re learning

  • @dreamfly555
    @dreamfly555 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I found that over the years bass are lazy fish, unlike stripers. Unless they are really hungry, they won't chase the bait. To get the reaction bite, is key. For accurate casting, the length of the rod should be a few inches to at most a foot taller than your height. In the old days, rods are relatively short but I guess as we get better rod materials, rods are getting longer and longer. With longer rods, casting distance will increase but accuracy will decrease.
