Just joined your group (still pending). My son is almost 20 months old, speech delayed. He points at pictures in books when I ask him to, usually with an added gaze at me to see my reaction and smile. However, he doesn't do much of the declarative/far distance pointing, and hand leads us and will place toys in our hands etc. Indeed these 'boxed' are stressful! So he lacks some pointing, hand leads and is speech delayed, but he otherwise seems like a very social boy, loves playing with us, puzzles, hide and seek, water guns etc. super joyful and playful, had good eye contact, understands commands and words (shapes, fruit and other basics) and I feel like he seeks out connection very often. However, we went to a speech therapist last week for the first time. He was tired and scared of her (thought she was a doctor is my guess), and so he only answered to his name the third or fourth time, and was behaving more introverted. She kept saying she's "worried" and go me so stressed I didn't sleep at night. I've heard you say in another video that you can quite easily put kids into different categories because you've heard and spoke to so many people. Any thoughts on this? Does this sound like autism or speech delay? Oh, and I'd also add that he imitates us in many ways (like if we make a funny sound, "sneeze", "tutu" sound for train, fake crying etc.) but doesn't repeat when we try to ask him to say a word (at least not often enough). I don't know why...

Well your child is 20 months old, it's still permissible. As for asd or not, no one can answer you with 100% accuracy at this age
