Just looking at her it’s very clear she wouldn’t really suit light hair. Doesn’t mean she can’t go light but dark hair would look far more flattering. I’m the same, I only suit dark, warm toned hair. Tried going lighter once and everyone told me I looked older and it washed me out so much.
She actually did a decent job and really tried to do things correctly. She even did fine sections 😍 and I loved seeing how happy Hair Buddha got about that lol I'm bummed she didn't get the color she wanted, but she did avoid frying her entire head and having to shave it so good for her.
The way we talk about hair color and the levels of hair color used by stylists is totally different. What most people call light brown is actually dark blonde on a color scale. It leads to people asking for the wrong thing. The color descriptions we use need to be from the same range. Stylists should always show swatches to a client so they are speaking the same language. The new fad names for color trends don’t help either.
You're totally right. I have mid-tone blonde hair, but "regular people" call that light brown - I do bleach my hair to very light blonde, so the roots are darker - while hair dressers call it quite light and definitely blonde.
I love listening to you especially when you predict what's going to happen with the colour they're using I sit here thinking, he's not wrong he's never wrong 😅 love your videos hair Buddha!! ❤
I personally don't think that wanting to change things up with your hair is a bad thing. I've seen a lot of people comment on videos like this "Why is she ___ to her hair". It's human to get bored or want to look or feel different. But I do think that when it's overdone so badly and you don't know what you're doing, that's where it's too much. While yes, going to a hair salon is ideal, not everyone can afford the prices that a lot of salons can have. When I was going pastel lavender it was usually 500 USD. And it's a sad concept to think that just because you don't have 200 dollars or more you don't have a right to an opportunity to change your look or feel better in your own skin. With the amount of resources we have available to us on TH-cam now with great stylists like you Hair Buddah, giving us great hair education and tips, I think those of us who are aware that we can't afford the professional and still want to have that change should take the time to properly learn all the can from these free resources before they jump into doing their hair with such drastic changes like this.
"You are addicted to killing your hair" I think she is, her hair is so beautiful, and she was trying to grow it! I understand having Jet Black hair for years can be boring, you don't enjoy much tone and rich browns only really show in direct sunlight; But going in knowing there is a huge chance you'll ruin your hair won't make you happy if it goes wrong! xo.
Everytime I consider trying to lighten my dark brown box dyed hair I watch a video and I'm back to reality. I cut off my waist length hair last month to a bob and these videos always convince me to just continue growing it out
I’m the same. If I ever get the urge to lighten my dark brown box dyed hair, I’m just going to watch some bleach fails and convince myself that never having damaged, breaking or dry hair again is going to be so worth it when it’s long again
Dear Hair Buddha I love your videos so much! You skillfully combine humor with most excellent advice. You also sympathize most sincerely with those who have unfortunate results. Now, I have kept my hair extremely short for decades. Between poverty(!) and Covid, I no longer have transportation (no public transport in my area at all; no Uber, nothing)and because I have an Airedale Terrier dog who requires grooming(which I have always done myself) I have both good quality scissors and clippers. Up until now, I have just put a new blade with guard on,& run it over all, with a tiny bit of scissoring around ears... This time I was so inspired by your advice that I left a proper triangle from correct eyebrow & forward of crown points,& did the sliding-at-an-angle scissoring and point- cutting to layer and blend... Turned out absolutely perfect! And when I was out doing my (once monthly) shopping, I had 3 ladies tell me 'out of the blue'(unprompted) they loved my hair,& who did it for me! Hahaha... I told them: dog clippers, good scissors, self taught,& WATCH HAIR BUDDHA'S VIDEOS! 😄 Thank you Hair Buddha - you are AMAZING ❤
It's been decades, but I managed to get my colored black hair stripped down to a good medium brown. I imagine the products have vastly improved yet so many struggle with it. Amazing.
This poor girl has such a woebegone look on her face, and such a tragic tone in her voice, the entire time - it's almost like she knows things are going to go south, but she just can't help herself.
Hello....I absolutely love watching your reactions.....I sure wish I could have you as my hairdresser! I have a question off topic here.....I'm 54 yrs old and I am having issues with hair loss due to menopause.....I have natural straight shoulder length dark blonde hair....I do not use any chemicals.....I've heard that rosemary oil might help with my situation....do you have any advice for this? Sorry to be off topic but I trust your advice.
You might want to add collagen powder to your diet. I’m 70 and started using it about 3 years ago and my skin, hair and nails have grown. I recently had about a foot of hair cut off because it grows so quickly. the powder I use is called, “Native Path.”
I went from black to light blonde. My hairdresser did do a fantastic job. It took a year, step by step, slowly with low developper and waiting 2 month between every bleaching process. At the end, my long hair was fine and light blonde. It takes time and costs a lot of money but it works
When highlighting your own hair i like to start at the front, so that you can wash out the front pieces before the back, not to overprocess. Since application would probably take 20-30 mins
For some reason, people think that coloring the hair darker fixes the damage. But the truth is that if you don't take care of that hair, no matter if you don't see it, it still there. I agree with you, if you get bored easily, buy wigs or higlight extension lol. I like so many different colors, but in me I have my birth natural dark brown😂😂😂 I'd rather admiring beautiful hair colors in others head, than messing and ruining my hear. I'm thinking about adding some lights because of gray hair coming but who knows if I will do it finally LOL
I go back and forth about coloring my hair. I like the gray half the time and realize it blends in well in level 6.5-7 hair (light brown/dark blonde). Zero color maintenance is nice too!
I had black hair for more than five years, then I used Color ops and I went to a brown orange... I put some dark blonde and it was a perfect base. Color ops could make your hair porous, they said to use a lighter color after (I wanted a light brown). A month after I put light brown on my hair, and since them I'm keeping the light brown. The only time that I preferred not to go to a professional (they don't use the color removers but bleach instead). The color remover is less dangerous for hair, in my opinion.
Invest in Color b4. best color remover ever. It murders black pigments and does not stink. i always use it when i need some dark color gone. my natural is a lvl 6 and i go from jet black to a 6 every time. and u get an even orange result. 10/10 if u wanna strip just a lil but use Askorbic Acid and headn sholders. Works every time!
I’m watching this while having a bleach test strand on my once black box dyed hair trying to see how light I can get it. My hair hasn’t been dyed in roughly 6 months though, so the black has naturally faded a bit, and I did a few rounds of color remover that doesn’t contain developer
One good rule of the thumb is to make sure you have enough stuff before starting. If it's box stuff, get at least 2 or 3 boxes. I see it happen on these videos all the time, it's just as irksome as the 30, 40 and 50 volume peroxide they insist on using. Super dark hair would look horrible on me but I've always wanted to do a gorgeous blue black. The more you shampoo with hotter water, the faster the colour fades, unfortunately. Or, in some cases, I guess fortunately
@@deletethis6902 I have plenty of experience with dying my hair and bleaching it (to platinum specifically) so I know what products work for my hair and what my hair can handle. I also have a fresh tub of bleach and big bottle of developer. I do appreciate the advice though
Years ago I had box dyed black hair, wanted it brown again so I went to a salon. Colour remover did NOTHING, they had to bleach my hair twice (with olaplex) to get the orange base and then put a permanent dye over it to make it a nice warm chocolate brown. Had a couple inches cut off too. It took 8 hours and cost me a lot of money but my hair was still bra strap length after the cut (it was waist length before) and it was still healthy. Best bet is to go to a salon for bleaching, especially if your hair is very dark, even if you only want to go a few shades lighter :)
If I was a brunette with a rich dark colour like hers, I think a blue black semi permanent colour, or rinse, would look awesome. Why does everyone want to go lighter?
It took me a year to grow out the dye from my hair and it is now approximately 80% grey and white with some dirty blonde/lt brown. I would like to put some blue green and purple streaks in my hair. I am not wanting to cover my whole head, just a few streaks on one section of my hair. Do I still need to bleach the section, or can I just put it on over my natural hair?
I dyed my hair for 10 years without pause, and my number one advice to others is always: don't do your hair color yourself if you care EVER. If you want an easy test, take a strand that's about 1cm wide, from a very visible place, and cut it off in a visibly uneven way. If you care about that, do not dye your hair yourself - I'm not joking. There is such a strong possibility that you will mess it up, and if you care, don't. It seems like I'm being overdramatic, until you remember that changing your hair colour changes the entire impression of your hair, and the stump will grow out and blend fairly quickly - if you dye it, you'll be waiting a long while. I have a lot of hair and I have thick hair, I can get away with most things (for ex. I have box bleached my hair 3 times in one day etc, without it falling off multiple times (from black to blonde, I've only had visible breakage once etc.), and my only rule is that I don't mess with my hair if I'm depressed or stressed, bc then I'll get upset. Now I don't really dye it anymore at all though, bc after resting my hair for 2 years, I became allergic to almost all hair dye, especially any with ammonia or a lot of hydrogen peroxide in it - that's why you always want to allergy check, when it goes into your scalp the allergic reaction is big. Tint of nature (the dye, haven't tried the henna) still works though, very low hydrogen peroxide and mostly natural ingredients. My natural hair also changed from blonde to caramel (what I refer to as a closet ginger), so dying my hair is a paaaiinn (for those who don't know, dying naturally red hair is really difficult) bc it washes out in like 2 washes (if I do it at the hair dresser it might last 2 weeks). @Hair-buddha As someone who has PTSD, it would be very interesting to hear your opinion on how to take care of hair that's impacted by stress (high lvl of cortisol, corroded strands, graying hair etc.). It's almost impossible for my hair to not be dry, and being an advocate for people with mental health issues (and obviously not a hair dresser), people have asked me about this before, it would be nice to have the option from an actual hairdresser 😊 you know, someone who actually knows what the doing 😂😂 Shout-out to my amazing hair dresser that has had to live with my hair destroying ways for the last 10 years, Anna, you are a lifesaver! (And again, I'm very very sorry)😂😂♥️
Why are all of them so against doing strand tests? Or is it because the disaster isn't large enough to make the cut to be on video? It would be nice to see if there's a bunch of people uploading videos with strand test fails and successes so people can not only learn from what NOT to do but also from what TO DO. 🤔 It would be refreshing to see that if you can find it.
Hi there I do have a question. If wanting to remove colour with Colour Oops, are you able to use that twice if it hasn't come out light enough? I don't want to bleach just want to go back to natural and remove years and years of box die. Never used black always a chestnut brown. Thank you for your TH-cam channel, I watch everyday 😊
I used color remover a few years ago and in the description stand that to rinse out the product, you should have a timer and rinse it for 5 minutes and a timer is very important because it's much longer than it feels!
I think she looks great with dark hair- but now she damaged it for no reason. Salon color is so much darker than we think- especially ashy tones and on porous hair! I always thought my natural color is a middle brown, till my Stylist told me it's an ashy dark blond. She should have her hair cut now- or it will break off uneven and look much worse.
I've gone jet black to platinum blonde a few times and always get a hairdresser to do it. It sucks having to wait it out with that copper colour and it takes months to gradually do it, but worth it in the end. I just stay platinum now lol been doing it that colour since the late 90s in high school 😂
Why does everyone act so surprised when their hair breaks or falls out after using bleach? They know it can happen, especially if they don't use it correctly, but are still shocked when it does happen. 😵
I've dyed my hair for 30 years with box dye but I've only used medium brown colors and have never bleached my hair. I want to stop coloring my hair and go grey but I'm afraid of what it will look like. I don't want to have dingy grey hair and I don't know what products to use on it.
You can do what I did. A very very short hair cut. And then you let your hair grow naturally. Gray hair is beautiful and first of all Grey hair set you free ❤
i recently returned to my natural dark brown hair color after playing with fashion colors. i knew i had to re-pigment my hair and decided to color my hair cherry red and let it fade to be the starting under- tone. the red faded to a muddy reddish. i used a demi-perm 4n from wella color charm and their volume 10 developer. it left me with a chocolate brown. no regrets and was my first time not buying a brown box kit. i know i'll have to do this a few times and i'm fine with that. now the root regrowth wont drive me mad.
Fab job with the sections and foils 👍 but how long did it take her? 🤔 She should have done her hair in sections and washed off in sections so her whole head processed equally
My daugther made Brown 3 months ago ! She just cant stand it !! Last year she was blue jade but was forced to change to have a job !! I have pink hair i am her Mother ! Why do we have to be " normal hair style " to have work !!! This is really frustrated to her to be as everyone to be accept !!! We are exeptional People we bring colors to this casual world !!!
The only time I have used Color Oops was like 4 years ago practically right after I dyed my hair. It looked horrible so I went to Walmart. Once I put it on I kept an eye on it and it got to a suitable color for ash blonde. Crisis averted
Chantal Pro Salon ColorPeel is very good. It stinks because its based on sulfur. But it doesn't lift your roots like 3 levels. My roots was a liitle more yellow, but it was nearly visible.
I'll never understand how people get bored I love my natural red auburn hair and would never change it. Only thing I do is once every few years I'll put Copper highlights or lowlights in it and that's it no bleaching, dying nothing
I started just as dark as her. I used the color remover you recommended and it dosn't stink like oops. I also used the blondeme 30 volume it took a few months and I am nearly platinum blonde. I also used a lot of Olaplex. I have naturally white gray hair and I just want to stop dying my hair. I am tired of looking like a skunk every two weeks. Thank you hair budda. Was a very drastic emotional roller coaster as I had black hair most of my life. I also used a shirt I don't care about my bfs 😂
The only way I could get rid of my black box dye to go blonde was to let it grow out. My hairdresser told me that’s the only option unless I wanna ruin it. I ❤ my hairdresser! Now I have beautiful blonde hair!
I used to lighten my hair when I was teens to thirties. I used Summer Blonde lightener. My original hair was blonde & started darkening with age. There are all sorts of natural reds in my hair, so I did go all red once. I haven’t seen anyone using Lighteners. I bet you hate them… do you? Are they still sold? (I’m bedbound now & going slowly white at age …well…69 early January. My Mom’s genes are going white bit by bit late in aging. 😊
What are lighteners? Do you mean sprays like Sun-In? They still sell that and it works very well on naturally light hair. I’m sorry you’re bed bound & hope these videos brighten your day as much as they do mine ❤
Go to a Cosmetology School they don't cost that much because that's how people learn I know I got my Cosmetologist License in 1978 in California and still have it today.
This is exactly why I saved pictures of when I thought awww Hell...how hard could it be during Covid shut down when I bleached my own roots. Whenever I get the urge I just look at them, I actually laughed and cried in the mirror 🥴😂
That’s exactly what I do. I change my hairstyle every month. But I wear wigs and braids and leave my own hair alone. I think I’d be bald if i did this to my own hair lol.
I wish people would read about color theory before doing their hair color at home😕 My hair is naturally black and I went to copper by first studying color theory so I'd not mess up.
Back in the day, I would have used the colour remover twice. The 30 finished off the damage she already had. Often people assume one cut is enough to remove that damage. Doesn't appear the case for her. She had a lovely personally though, shame not enough guidance.
The mid-brown is so pretty on this woman! Why would she want to go lighter?
🤷
Why do the girls with curly hair straighten them, and girls with straight hair curl them? Cuz we don't like ourselves the way we are, mostly😂😂😂
Because she is bored!
I know, right?
She actually did a decent job and really tried to do things correctly. She even did fine sections 😍 and I loved seeing how happy Hair Buddha got about that lol
I'm bummed she didn't get the color she wanted, but she did avoid frying her entire head and having to shave it so good for her.
it was sad to see her unhappy she worked so hard and she is so sweet

She almost cracked a smile twice tho
Boring and nervous all in one
Thanks Hair Buddha ✂️🤗
Daww i was so impressed with the sections and foilIng...hair colouring ain't easy!
She needs to cut those dead ends off before they take the rest of the hair with them when they break off.
That chestnut brown her hair was looked so good on her.. she should’ve just left it
True. Some folks just can't leave well enough alone.
It was so much softer than the jet black and really complemented her face.
Hugs for Hair Buda.

Why ... Her hair is so healthy and shiny the colour suits her *mind boggles*
Ash pulls one shade darker, and I'm so glad you mentioned developer reoxadizing the molecules as people don't realise this

@Hair-buddha As someone who has PTSD, it would be very interesting to hear your opinion on how to take care of hair that's impacted by stress (high lvl of cortisol, corroded strands, graying hair etc.). It's almost impossible for my hair to not be dry, and being an advocate for people with mental health issues (and obviously not a hair dresser), people have asked me about this before, it would be nice to have the option from an actual hairdresser 😊 you know, someone who actually knows what the doing 😂😂
Shout-out to my amazing hair dresser that has had to live with my hair destroying ways for the last 10 years, Anna, you are a lifesaver!
It would be refreshing to see that if you can find it.
She could have gone for a nice red or copper with that bleach result imo.
indeed
Congratulations on your TH-cam button.
Thank you
I think she looks great with dark hair- but now she damaged it for no reason.
Bless her - all that work for nothing…
I literally started wearing wigs because of this man. I don’t want to ruin my hair.
I love her mid brown why did she mess it up
❤❤❤❤❤
On the bright side, the black really suits her.
Why does everyone act so surprised when their hair breaks or falls out after using bleach? They know it can happen, especially if they don't use it correctly, but are still shocked when it does happen. 😵
Do you have any videos showing your work? ❤
I have 2 vids about my tv make-overs th-cam.com/video/z3MunWlg9Jw/w-d-xo.html
@@hair-buddha Thank you!
I've learned 1 thing from your videos. Leave hair color to the pro!
i recently returned to my natural dark brown hair color after playing with fashion colors. i knew i had to re-pigment my hair and decided to color my hair cherry red and let it fade to be the starting under- tone. the red faded to a muddy reddish. i used a demi-perm 4n from wella color charm and their volume 10 developer. it left me with a chocolate brown. no regrets and was my first time not buying a brown box kit. i know i'll have to do this a few times and i'm fine with that. now the root regrowth wont drive me mad.
👍👍👍👍
When you said...
You know what's coming ... A moth flew behind you😂😂
Monday 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
New Video
❤❤❤❤❤
So Nice hair….
Afraid… blond…
Not that bad
… so sorry 😢
Fab job with the sections and foils 👍 but how long did it take her? 🤔 She should have done her hair in sections and washed off in sections so her whole head processed equally
My daugther made Brown 3 months ago ! She just cant stand it !! Last year she was blue jade but was forced to change to have a job !! I have pink hair i am her Mother ! Why do we have to be " normal hair style " to have work !!! This is really frustrated to her to be as everyone to be accept !!! We are exeptional People we bring colors to this casual world !!!
Truth!
The only time I have used Color Oops was like 4 years ago practically right after I dyed my hair. It looked horrible so I went to Walmart. Once I put it on I kept an eye on it and it got to a suitable color for ash blonde. Crisis averted
Well at least it wasn’t a disaster. You basically look the same😊
Poor dear, she worked so hard. I do think she is beautiful with any of those colors
Drives me crazy when you see the foils looking like the dog captured the to-go swan.
Chantal Pro Salon ColorPeel is very good. It stinks because its based on sulfur. But it doesn't lift your roots like 3 levels. My roots was a liitle more yellow, but it was nearly visible.
She went from black to broken & fried black 🤔
Oh no, she had so much work - and in my opinion her black hair was beautiful 🙁
for finer hair is there any treatment for density? are there hopes for turning fine hair thicker?😅
There seems to be a common denominator in most of these fiascos-boredom. 🤦🏻♀️
Why??? 😭
Time for a buzzcut.
But really...who said that blonde is better than brown🤔????????
Go to a Cosmetology School they don't cost that much because that's how people learn I know I got my Cosmetologist License in 1978 in California and still have it today.
Bleaching black box dye never goes well....
It's very difficult, yes.
9:17 I wished my hairdresser knew that 10 years ago she had to tone it after bleaching. I walked out orange for week till I colored it dark again. 😅
This is exactly why I saved pictures of when I thought awww Hell...how hard could it be during Covid shut down when I bleached my own roots. Whenever I get the urge I just look at them, I actually laughed and cried in the mirror 🥴😂
Well that was pointless.
Amma....amma....amma....
If you're gonna hold the foil to your hair why don't you get just a small board to put behind it so when you paint the hair the foil doesn't wrinkle
Dear budha
I dying my hair using dying box it soo cute I used 7,00 degree
Can I move to 8?? Or keeping use seven 🙄🙄
That’s exactly what I do. I change my hairstyle every month. But I wear wigs and braids and leave my own hair alone. I think I’d be bald if i did this to my own hair lol.
All that work just to end up with dark hair again and now it's damaged and breaking off🙄
Как ей было хорошо с цветом после смывки. А потом - убийство волос.
I wish people would read about color theory before doing their hair color at home😕 My hair is naturally black and I went to copper by first studying color theory so I'd not mess up.
Oh no 😢time to get a haircut
Is your wife a hairdresser as well?🎄
Back in the day, I would have used the colour remover twice.
The 30 finished off the damage she already had. Often people assume one cut is enough to remove that damage. Doesn't appear the case for her.
She had a lovely personally though, shame not enough guidance.
Bleach blondes are hot, im one myself. But it needs looking after ❤
