I can highly recommend his autobiography Notes From a Low Singer. Warm, witty and very funny, with plenty of anecdotes about the neighbours he annoyed while warming up in the garden to his debut and only performance at the Met as Baron Ochs!

Very spanrkling. Wrong costumes, though, because the action should take place in the 16th century ( exactly like "Don Giovanni" ) not in the 18th.
