Thanks man, really informative I just popped the hood on my ‘08, I bent an 1/4” rod 3” at about 30 degrees, to go into the latch, 20” to get out of the grill, then bent 90 degrees to the drivers side for leverage, used that applying your method, pushed down on the hood with my left elbow at the same time to take off some of the tension and popped with out issue, thanks again!

For me the cable disconnected. I went through the hole on left side with a sturdy metal rod. Bent a slight angle on it about 6” from the end. When it went into the hole I angled it so it pushes upward then the latch popped. The issue with mine is the end of the plastic sheath where the cable come out it it designed to snap onto the support and the plastic is worn. Also there is a push fit tie to hold the cable in place that was broken so I used a zip tie to hold it and pulled the tie as tight as I could

I tried the other method but it didn't work. On your video, you said to push down on it, I really can't tell what you're doing with the pin punch. Please clarify what is meant by "pushing down". Thanks.

I can’t get the hood open enough to reach it like you are talking about

Laying on the ground, You will have to reach up between the grill and the radiator to get to the latch. It's not an easy feat, but you got this!

Thanks. Now if I can get my hood open I can use your "trick" to amuse myself. This doesn't work if the hood is stuck closed and you can't get at the mechanism ! you FOOL !

Wow....if you cannot figure out how to get your arm up in between the the frame and the radiator, send it to a mechanic.....I may be a fool but I can at least figure out how to unlatch the release...

Dodges are junk.. how sad you can't pop the hood normal ... very sad design
