What matters is seeing him after he gets beat up by a defense like in that Dallas game. I won't believe Darnold is good until he goes to double digit wins or throws for something like 4000 yards.
I, for one, always chuckled a little at everyone gushing about how Caleb Williams was walking into a great situation that "no rookie QB had ever been in". Like everyone forgot the OL was average at best last year, especially pass blocking, and the Bears were the beneficiary of everyone being afraid of Fields' 4.4 speed. Now that they have a rookie who doesn't have that speed to help the runners and blockers, that OL is what those of us paying attention thought it was... and Caleb and company are going to be under pressure all year. Plus, Shane Waldron? Really? After he squandered all the talent in Seattle? Bears are still not the best-run organization, no matter how well Poles stocks the talent.
I think we know darnold isn't a ginger because Dalton was playing with 100% of the ginger power. (Unless maybe with each additional ginger qb added to the league the overall pool of ginger talent grows, i.e. when burrow was drafted the ginger talent increased)
Steve, you can’t say that was a “Wil Levis” type of play for Box Nix. It wasn’t negated because of a penalty. It was a free play! Not a great free play admittedly but the flag was thrown in front of Bo’s nose, so don’t try and make out he was lucky!
Exactly. The offsides player was right in his line of sight so he knew he had a free play, or else he would've thrown the ball away like he did later in the game in a much worse condition (3rd quarter, free runner coming right at him). Also as soon as he stood up he was motioning for offsides because he saw it happen. Had the same play happened with Aaron Rodgers or any other long time vet I bet wouldn't be assuming that he had no idea it was a free play...dumb take

It’s crazy to see the slander against Deshaun Watson after watching 2 out of his 3 games this season. I watched him against the Cowboys week 1 which was the game of the week on Fox, and because I’m a Giants fan that lives in NY I watched yesterday’s game. To be completely honest with ZERO bias for or against DW. His offensive line is TERRIBLE. Remember week 1, when the Cowboys defense looked like the Bears of 1985, yeah. That’s because his O-line is TERRIBLE. They had 13 penalties against the Cowboys. It’s difficult to play football at an even Kiel when you’re constantly on 2 & 20 or 3 & 16 because your O-line is getting penalized for holding. That changes the whole aspect of the game at that position. Especially when your O-line can’t hold the defense from getting into the backfield, especially when the defense is blitzing on 2 & 20. Deshaun literally has NO time to read through his reads. As soon as he snaps the ball, he’s under duress. The Browns O-line through 3 weeks have the most penatlies in the league, and his number 1 option in Amari Cooper has the most dropped balls thus far through 3 weeks with 4 drops including a wide open TD pass he dropped in the end zone against the Cowboys which would of been a 40 yard TD. I’m NOT a Deshaun fan, I’m only stating this because I know football & I actually watched TWO of his games by chance. Benching him won’t solve their biggest problem which is their O-line. If you throw Jamies under center, its going to be the same shit because whoever is under center will be under HEAVY duress once they snap the ball. The sports media as a whole is bashing Deshauns play but fail to mention the circumstance he’s under with the worse O-line in the NFL at the moment. You guys who talk about the game need to do better with either analyzing what’s going on before speaking on a situation; or with at least conveying the facts that his O-line is the most penalized O-line in the NFL through 3 weeks. Again, not a Deshaun fan persay. Just a fan of football.

Need to let him run around more instead of insisting he be a statue behind a terrible line. This is also on the coaching staff
Tldr, that being said, I've been a huge watson critic since day 1. Not necessarily because of him as a player but more what the browns gave up for him especially knowing that his style of play doesn't really fit stefanskis style. In my opinion he would've had to immediately taken us to the superbowl to pay off on what they gave up for him in terms of picks and guaranteed money. I'm still a huge critic for the same reasons but I wouldn't expect any of the other 28 qbs, excluding maybe mahomes allen and lamar, to be able to have any level of success behind that line currently and with the offensive scheme they've been rolling out so far this year. There's no way you can accurately assess his play on the field with the rest of the shit they're putting out. Coupled with Schwartz allowing the giants to get nabers rolling because he's trying to be cute and let emerson cover him for the first half. It's a disaster top to bottom so far this year.
