    The stalling issue is caused by poor spark when the warm engine is running very lean at idle. The OEM bosch plug is garbage, my plug gap was 1.4mm after 9k miles (spec is 0.9). Swap it out for an iridium one and problem is gone.

    Wow sorry to hear you’re having these difficulties with your 390 ADV I have had mine for almost 2 years now and I’ve never had an issue except for when I got the bike it came with a small oil leak from the countershaft which my dealer replaced immediately and there has not been a problem after that I have 13,000 miles on the bike and it’s been flawless. I also take it in for every service to be done and at that time the service department checks for any Computer upgrades. I rode it on a 3000 mile trail called the great continental divide here in the United States between Mexico border and Canadian border, it performed great it was truly flawless on the trip the total trip was 5000 miles.

    Thank you for the informative video. I too face the stalling issue and had it on my other 390 bikes as well. The issue seems to creep in after about 5k-7K km as you mentioned. Since this bike design is extremely precise I think that the valves begin to go out of adjustment slightly around this timeframe. Note that the issue worsens with time, but can be helped by keeping the chain tight, because the correctly tensioned chain can help to simply restart the bike when it flames out due to worsening valve gaps. I’m going to check adjust the valve gaps and report back if the issue goes away or not. In reality, the valves gaps need to be checked at every service.
    A few corrections:
    The recommended oil is 15w-50 semi-synthetic and you need to check chain tension every 2000km if you torque the wheel nut to 96Nm as required using a proper torque wrench. Most people do not have a torque wrench and constantly rely on themselves to decide how much to tighten the nut which leads to chain getting loose every 500km. I lube my chain every 300km with gear oil and clean it every 1000km and after 11K km I only needed to adjust it 2 times with 90% chain life still remains on regular OEM chain. So all the people who don’t like the oem chain simply don’t take care of it properly.

    I've been watching your informative videos and I too picked up a 390 adventure. I feel the bike handles really well. Touch wood these issues have not cropped up as yet but if they do I know what needs to be done. Thanks for keeping us aware of issues and keep posting great videos. Fortunately or unfortunately I haven't started a TH-cam channel but I enjoy my rides. As always enjoy do what you passionately follow with your heart and look forward to more videos. I think its a superb bike and a pleasure to ride. I have faced the stalling issue and have resolved it everytime at the svc by doing a throttle body clean. A throttle body is required every 10 k km but in reality u need to do it every 5/7 k km. As for the clutch switch and im not aware as they have replaced it first time now alongwith throttle body clean and the bike is working fine

    i was facing stalling while downshifting from 6th to 5th until 4th to 3rd gear but wasn't facing any stalling 3rd to 2nd or 2nd to 1st...
    they said me to go for premium petrol then they changed my spark plug n adapter...
    after few days they cleaned the throttle body still it didn't work...
    after a month they changed the throttle body still the issue didn't go away completely though was working below 5000rpm but once above it the problem came back again...
    i checked on teambhp site n changed the clutch switch but to my horror it still didn't do anything...
    so I pulled out the clutch switch myself this time...
    opened the small cap fitted onto clutch switch ... saw the white slider carefully to see how it works..
    then there i found the actual problem...
    the white slider was fitted in reverse in mirror image kind.. so the clutch switch make was at fault here then i carefully checked the older one too.. it had the same manufacturing fault..
    i pulled the small block of plastic into which the wires go n paste.. then took out the slider n refitted in correct way..
    so now the slider was pushing the tiny pin kind of sensore inside the clutch switch with a correct pressure to work..
    before in wrong fitment the slider was pushing that pin way too much n with this corrected switch the pin was being pushed just as much was needed...
    then voila my bike runs like a butter in all gears with everything on quickshifter abs n mtc...
    post was long but trust me this will help 100%

    The Engine stalling is solved through ECU update at the KTM service centre. I got my adv a month ago n in my first service they updated the ECU n the issues has been fixed , my adv has not stalled since the ECU update at any rpm at all at any gear. no need to change the sprocket now.

If you say they have an issue reflash for this?and the bike shouldn't be doing this stuff if it's legitimate ECU malfunction I was a 2022 continue to be doing this which is just f****** built in July people have no clue no one hears an engineer or a mechanic there wannabes

    Bro I learnt the same tips throughout my ownership experience. Apparently ktm not only sells the bike but also makes you an automobile engineer, as most of the finding and fixing of bugs is the owner's responsibility. I dont think the service center people are to be blamed, they are there to execute but the solution needs to come from the company. Its been almost a year my 12volt socket doesn't work, still it is not fixed because they cannot get the parts from the company. I mean its no busa but its a premium bike for Indian market and most of the owners I know are not college students (a sizeable chunk of duke owners are due to its appeal) who will make trips to the service center every week.

    I just bought a 2020 rc390 and at 65 miles the shifter failed.... dealership said factory did not assemble it correctly wtf hopefully it gets fixed in “good will” also I live in a hilly mountain and it jerks and stalls a lot, it does not do that on rather flat land/ city. Not impressed I’m trading mine in for a Honda CBR650R.

    • @RoadAheadWithAJ
      @RoadAheadWithAJ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The QS seems to fail a lot until 1st service. Once the ECU is updated it does a little better. But if yours is a factory issue, it should be replaced under warranty right?
      I don't think its meant for use on hills. The QS is intended for track use and the manual states you have to give about 2000 rpm between each upshift.
      Nonetheless, I agree its very jerky and only somewhat ok in the higher gears. I usually use it in highway traffic. In the city its always off.
      Personally I would've preferred if ktm gave me the adjustable front suspension instead of the QS. Racing on track was never my thing anyway 🤷‍♂️

    For me, the clutch switch wasn't an issue, the chain slack wasn't an issue, the quick shifter wasn't an issue. All of these things had no bearing on the engine stalling. I know because I rode with a broken clutch switch and there was no difference in how much or how little it stalled based on it being functional. Same with chain slack. And I had the bike before I added a quickshifter and after, and no difference.
    The ONLY thing that made the bike not stall anymore was making sure the engine warms up prior to riding it, at least three bars. If you go without warming up the engine, at some point the bike will stall even if it stalls when the engine is already warm. Strange by far this is the most consistent result.
    And since I know stalling upon startup is also common, what I do is I turn on the power and wait two or three minutes and then start the engine. When I do that it also does not stall upon power-ups. At that point I let it warm up for around 5-10 minutes and I have no issues.

    • @RoadAheadWithAJ
      @RoadAheadWithAJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, clutch switch doesn't seem an issue for everybody.
      Quick shifter: big difference for me, even when IN traffic if I switch on/off I can feel the difference in handling.
      Same with chain slack, I know its time to tighten it when the engine begins coughing at low rpms...
      I guess it varies from bike to bike...

    • @chuckerpower2841
      @chuckerpower2841 ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn't matter about warming the bike up it's got a ECU which is fuel injected and you never have issues with fuel injection unless the bike has miles on it where it's a fluke while cleaning the throttle body has no little thought until it's physically dirty my bike had 10 miles on it and installed many times in the 10 miles now it's got 300 and it's done over 30 times it's obviously KTM has an issue because hundreds and hundreds of people have this issue with their pieces of s*** KTMs I hate that bike with a passion I'm going lemon law I think everybody else should follow

    In india there’s not a big diff in the type of fuel v put. Premium fuels jus add certain additives like octane booster and sell them at premium prices. And most important of all - availability of premium petrol is not there in all bunks. So i feel its better to get used to normal petrol and add some additive by ourselves.

      Not really, it has 2 fans on the radiator instead of 1 like in the prior version.
      However if u get stuck in heavy traffic expect some hot air from the fans onto your shins 😁

      I had check it above 4000rpm also
      Can u plz clear 1 thing for me ,
      In quickshifter when we shift do we have to let go off the throttle or not. Coz when I m shifting while acceleration it's not shifting at all.

    • @RoadAheadWithAJ
      @RoadAheadWithAJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DEEPAKSHARMA-vl7ji To use QS, you have to keep accelerating, but you have to make sure the revs are high enough to go to next gear, else it will jerk or might not shift.
      Read the manual that came with your bike, it will tell you that between shifts (using QS) there should be a gap of 2,000 rpm
