i know right..no way i could carry next to the family jewels..im close w/ some major street pharmacists..they carry all day, everyday, in the back..im going with hip
Don't think you mentioned it but one of the most key parts of all these drills is owning a holster that has retention onto your garment. That's critical because there is nothing worse than drawing under stress and bringing the holster with it. I have seen it happen.
I had a holster that did that. I actually started practicing, draw, bring gun and holster to front and use my support hand to yank the holster off the gun! and then get my sight picture and fire.
2:46 . Similar motion in skydiving when you move the left arm in front of the face ( not the eyes) for balance and aerodynamic while pulling the chord. Good technique.
*The Vampire Method is a Good Original technique. One thing to consider is how the support hand motion obscures one line of sight. This eliminates a most important element...your peripheral vision. As a multi disciplined firearms instructor, it recommended to instead pin your support hand and garment against the chest. This will prevent any obscurement of vision. Love the video!*
Hope you are well, home safe, ready to pass on what you learned to your (worthy) boys in your life. Nobody wants to say it and yt deletes but it's coming.
Karl's modified a technique which I was taught 54 years ago. Sweet; that provides maximum clearance. We grabbed the left side of a garment and pulled it straight out at the 280 degree position. I like the refinement. BZ
The vampire could also conceal your draw from your opponents vision, almost giving a stun or a confuse affect on your opponent. The vampire doesn’t seem yo be a draw at first, it seems like some kind of defensive movement, which would confuse anyone for a split second, giving you a split second advantage
I absolutely love the mean mugging to the left and right before reholstering. I absolutely understand the value of the movement, and training to create habit and muscle memory. It's just amazingly entertaining to watch.
@It’s getting weird stalker 😂 Yes you’re right checking corners in your own range in America is a good habit to form and in fact not something you’re doing for the nerds on the internet.
@It’s getting weird stalker 😂 I haven’t been in a gunfight per say, but I have had years of MMA training and a few fights. You don’t practice anticipating losing your fine motor skills (going into tunnel vision). You learn how to cope with the adrenaline after being in the situation and reflecting on it psychologically.
I really appreciate you two for your profession free training. I will practice this dry fire first method for safety as you say. A high school friend,Keith Salyers of Alamogordo New Mexico, was found dead on the shooting range the next day after he was practicing concealed quick draw. Such a waist and we know accidents happen in the blink of an eye.
Thanks guys for your video I learned a lot I already know a lot but I’m not so arrogant that I wouldn’t watch a video to learn more great technique and thanks for serving our country
Thank you guys for doing demos on different techniques. I think a lot of practice are needed when we are wearing clothing for cool and cold weather. My favorite location is anywhere from 2 to 4 o'clock positions where I can draw much quicker and more control. 🇺🇸🤙🏼
Hi. I just got done with a concealed carry draw lesson. Remember when pulling gun from holster in the process to drop the elbow continue get your sights eyes off gun and on target-release fire. Put gun in holster slowly with no clothing in the way.
The shot was right on target, my best friend. I am from Nusa Tenggara Timur-Indonesia Take a vacation to East Nusa Tenggara because there are many exotic tourism destinations on East Nusa Tenggara Island We await the arrival of the best marksman friends
This is why I'm a huge fan of shooting IDPA: You can practice drawing from concealment and then they run the drills again, you can practice drawing from duty belt. So I can practice my EDC and my setup for working security. Noice. (Also good choice for a pistol, Jason. I'm also running CZ, had a 75 that I got my CHL originally with and carried for years before I switched. Now my summer carry is the 83, my favorite thing is taking it to an IDPA course. Rusty milsurp Czechnology and I keep up just fine with the "Glock Perfection™ That's Why I Swapped Out Every Single Component" types much to their chagrin.)
I usually lift the shirt/hoodie/jacket with my thumb and then rock my hand down for the draw. Larger coats I swing back and use my car keys as weight. Still rock the hand against my torso though.
I have a gut cannot appendix carry and have limited arm movement, all techniques are great I am going to practice the Vampire method I do not carry but shoot IDPA.
The technique they are talking about is called The count Dracula or the AKA belagosi draw and it is a phenomenal technique. It also carries into point retention shooting because at the technique where he drew his elbow to the air you could basically stop and point shoot from retention in that position. If you want a reference go to the movie John wick 2 where he meets Cassian after killing Gianna Antonio.
"Reluctantly Holster", ok, now I have a name to go with how I instinctively re-holster in appendix carry. I've never even done it live, just empty and no mag, and I'm still super cautious about shooting my Kibbles and Bit off, or hitting an artery in my thigh. Thanks, for the information.
Idk why I started laughing at that vampire draw its like once ya shirt cover ya eyes your gun should be out lol. You will get popped doing that action Jackson B.S (Unless you practice) good video though
This is nice>> if youre watching this be sure your ready to own. Practice at home whats good for you and what state you live. Remember this get home safe and better to have and not need to need and not have. This is nice... but its up to you to teach yourself...
Great video, thanks brothers. Can someone explain to me what the thing is where after someone is done shooting they tuck it close to their body like that. What is the thinking/purpose behind that? I have never seen anyone explain it.
You are searching for other threats. Bring it in close so no one can come up blindside and grab it. Also, holding it out in front of you gives you a blind spot where your arms are.
I practice with the first one if I'm wearing flannel or something like that, and the t-shirt one. for the t-shirt, I modify it. I reach closer to the weapon with my support hand and yank my t-shirt straight up touching my cheek with the back of my hand. this clears the weapon to draw completely without having to use my draw hand to double clear my shirt and lose time. but that's just my way
The guy on TH-cam that show himself in the leg while he took the pistol out of the holster scared me, I’m getting my first pistol tomorrow but now I’m terrified of u’sing a holster lol
Thanks for the options guys. I carry at 4 o'clock with a T-shirt or sweatshirt concealment. I still don't feel smooth at all. I'll try some of your suggestions to see if something will be more natural.
This was a pretty good video. I like the idea of leading with your thumb, as my t shirt always comes untucked and my fingers seem to grab the shirt when I try to draw the pistol.
First off, welcome home. Second, they do cover the appendix carry in the video. Third, they have changed my life for the better and hope you watch a lot of their other content.
I was told that often in a fight you're pushed onto a wall or a car frontally by attacker so you won't be able to draw a gun. That's why I was advised to carry on 3 or 4 o'clock and I got used to 3 o'clock position even though I planned to carry appedix at first.
coczwarty I carry appendix mostly because I’m a skinny guy but most importantly is the ability to defend my firearm. Someone would have to go through my arms and legs to get to my gun. If I’m understanding what you’re saying correctly, if someone pushes your front into a wall from behind and your gun is in the 3-5 o’clock position then they would have access to your gun better than you would (having to reach behind in a fight seems like it would be harder). Which it may be beneficial in that one case, but if someone comes at you from the front or if you end up on your back and laying on your firearm then that is much harder to be able to reach to your gun without putting your arm in a position that is easy for your assailant to restrict your arm and then go for your gun.
@@Bombad_Dad Yes, I like appedix because I think it's extra cool but I got used to carry at 3 o'clock. The reasons is just a justification of already made choice or dealing with lack of choice (I got cheapest way to carry what I got. Excuse me for not being super cop. But I have a question. What is the purpose of him switching targets and looking behind him after he fires. Is that a habit from his training days? (Obviously looking behind is a safety precaution)
Im a little late to the video but Ive been trying to figure out the best way to draw at the concealed 3 o'clock position since I seem to get snagged on the tshirt at times so thank you so much for the techniques
I'd suggest you guide the shirt up with your primary hand to help the garment clear the gun and then finish riding it up with your support hand. Your primary hand cannot grip until you have that garment cleared anyways so you might as well put it to use helping with the shirt. Another reason why I like to do it that way is that you can't always count on being able to use both hands to draw, hence your support hand might not always be available to clear garment... You'll have to rely on your primary hand, so already using it as part of the clearing in the two hand drawn stroke means you already have the practice laid down in case it has to be a one handed draw only.
Been trying the Vampire but my overshirt has friction!!! it drags over trousers and gets stuck im now trying the thumb sweep, also I have an OWB holster and the shirt sometimes get caught on the SIG being it sticks off the hip an inch or so. 3 o'clock carry! Any hints on having to swap magazines on the left hip 9 o'clock position covered by an over garment?
Hopefully when this 'scary time' is over we'll get our liberties back and I can attend some training. In the mean time there is a boat load of info you guys have put out on the channel that I can assimilate. My hat is off to your commitment, but what else could I expect from American warriors?
