A lot of people (myself included) only consider a game/franchise to be JRPG if it has turn-based combat. Basically, if you changed the music, sprites and dialogue in an action rpg, it would just be a generic hack and slash. Would Streets of Rage be a JRPG if we turned the weapons into swords and magic wands and set the story in a fantasy kingdom? By the standards of this video, it would.

its so stupid sometime. There are so many good games they just didnt released in more countrys. Just a Week ago i bought a Game that was only released in UK and France(and US in its US Version). But was Assembled in Germany, was worked on in Swiss (where they also speak German) and it even is translated in German(but not the Manual and Cover) but it was not released in Germany or Swiss :P
+CHUA KINLING I tried Tales of Phantasia and was really loving it, but the encounter rate was extremely too high and couldn't keep playing it. Every 2 or 3 steps an encounter was too much for me. It's a shame cause it really was a nice game with a good story, graphics, music and gameplay, but that detail was a deal breaker for me.
There was one item, the sacred bottle, which made random combats much less frequent. I always buy many of these items in the JRPGs and you can explore without discomfort. The top author has to play Earthbound to make some changes in his life.

There are so many good RPG Games on the SNES. But over here we only got a few. Secret of Mana, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, Lufia 2 Secret of Evermore and Mystic Quest. Thats it. No Earthbound, no Chrono Trigger, no Final Fantasy :(
I guess you're in Europe? We never got Terranigma :( but getting FFIV and FFVI and worth it.
its so stupid sometime.
I am not that big of fan of Seiken Densetsu 3. I played through it but the combat system was too far changed from Secret of Mana to be enjoyable
Great video! What's the title of the song at 8min? Thank you!
Soundtrack from the game, which goes on video
Fear of the Heavens
The Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past, as good as it is, but it doesn't qualify as RPG, it's an Action Adventure.
Ff2 or 4 ( same game) not on the list. Comon man. Its by farrrrr the best rpg ever made. Also where is earthbound?
do you have a similar ps1 list?
Only SNES for now.
finally the tale of phantasia on list at last...
2 or 3 step are you equip with the high encounter accessories or using item? For me it is normal like 10 steps or above only encounter one
+Bertsaga eh i finish Tales of Phantasia when i was 13 years old.....
There was one item, the sacred bottle, which made random combats much less frequent.
I always buy many of these items in the JRPGs and you can explore without discomfort.
The top author has to play Earthbound to make some changes in his life.
Where is Live A Live?!
creo q te confundiste en poner el numero del final fantasy del puesto 2, quizas x los cambios de region japon o estados unidos, el final fantasy que va ahi es el final fantasy 2 (4 en japon) el mejor de los final fantasy
Mario RPG is one of The best
would make it a top 10
Soul Blazer should be mentioned too!
The 7th Saga is a great game too.
Treasure of rudra?
Would have loved to see Treasure Hunter G on this list =)
Guess The 7th Saga (Elnard) didn't make the cut. 😐
Lack of Dragon Quest here is appalling and disgusts me
vc lembrou de jogos q eu ate esqueci e lembrei agora que nostalgia obg so por esse primeiro ai já valeu mt apena ver o vídeo kkkk so os jogos fodas abraco so acho q eles deveriam fazer chrono trigger pra versão mais de agora pra pc tipo um remaster nossa ia ser mt foda serio
All footage is from like tge first 25 minutes of game play......i dont think you've played these
Can you do a video about the top 15 wrpgs?
Where treasure of rudras, romancing saga 3, tengai makyo zero sad does'n on the list
i LOVE SECRET OF MANA 100% RECOMENDED
Then I suggest you to check out Secret of Mana Turbo hack (by Queue). It's insanely good, and pretty much fixes all of the bugs and shortcomings that were present. And above all else, it's a hack that allows the users to CHOOSE which specific hacks to use (you can toggle).
Terrianigma should at least be top 5. But hey it’s your list not mine
ooohhhh that´s good you can say all ost you use in the video?
Almost all melodies are the main themes of these games.
I am not a great fan of rpg and jrpg too, but you can include the two great snes in your game list. There are Secret of Evermore and Dark Half.
What's dark half?
Where is Secret of Evermore? And Mystic Quest Legend? I:-)
not having Live a Live or Energy Breaker on here smh
final fantasy II AND secret of evermore???
After that 15 :)
The best breath of fire 2, secret of mana,
