I recently bought The Thrawn Trilogy(the original not the new canon), The Bane Trilogy, Revan(because Revan is my favorite of all time), and the Han Solo Trilogy(partially because Hans my dad's favorite). Oh and I got The Revenge Of The Sith novelization. I don't quite know where I'll go from there but most likely I'll buy the first 8 of the Legacy Of The Force series(my dad has the last book of the series).
All great purchases! Legacy of the Force would be best enjoyed if you've read a lot of the EU post-RotJ (Thrawn Trilogy, New Jedi Order, etc.) If you're still getting into Legends, I'd recommend going with some of the great stand-alone novels such as Darth Plagueis, Kenobi, etc. You could also check out The Clone Wars 2003 Novel Series, there are some great stories told in that initiative like Shatterpoint.
I recently found that I had a lot of the ex-canon books without Legends labeling, so my goal is to collect both Legends and non-Legends labeled editions. I had no idea about the SFBC, but wanted to get all hardcovers/paperbacks I can find. Thank you for the helpful video, I look forward to many fine additions to my collection!
Right now I can see a listing for TLJ on eBay from 1/17/24 that sold for..... $5. I can't decide if it was a scam seller or if they truly didn't know what they had.

Hi James, thanks for your comment. The value of your collection would depend on which printings of each novel you have. Since you’ve been collecting for 30 years, then you probably have a lot of first editions which can make your collection’s value rise. However, in most cases, paperbacks are not worth more than $3-$10 online give or take a handful of novels. I’d be willing to try and help you evaluate the collection as a whole though. In regards to someone purchasing them, we could make this thread an open forum for people to let you know their interest. There are also some Star Wars book Facebook groups for buying and selling where you might have more success: check out Star Wars Book Smugglers and Star Wars Book Nerds. Thanks for watching!
Okay, so i'm trying to get a gift for my brother-in-law who LOVES the Star Wars movies, but hasn't read any of the books.... I know nothing about Star Wars so can anyone recommend what the best one is for a non-reader? I'm totally lost lol

So Star Wars books take place in one of two universes: Canon (which means the stories in the books are supposed to have a direct impact on the current Star Wars movies and tv shows) and Legends (which is kind of looked at as an alternate reality at this point in the Star Wars continuity). If your brother-in-law is a big Star Wars movie and tv fan (especially of any of the newer movies and shows), then Canon books are probably the way to go. Do you know his favorite character or Star Wars movie/show? I could give you a recommendation based on that to hopefully find something he'll really like. Thanks for watching!
If you are looking at Canon, most of the best Darth Vader reading material is actually in the comics. Darth Vader (2015) by Kieron Gillen and Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith by Charles Soule are two of the most beloved Star Wars comic runs of the last decade. If comics aren't his thing, then there are three solid Canon books that feature Vader prominently that I'd recommend: Lords of the Sith, Tarkin, and Thrawn: Alliances. Lords of the Sith and Tarkin are more accessible because you don't need any backstory at all. Thrawn: Alliances works better if you read the first book in the series (Thrawn), but can still mostly be enjoyed if he wants to skip Thrawn. If he is interested in reading Legends, the most popular Legends Vader book series would probably be The Dark Lord Trilogy (Labyrinth of Evil, Revenge of the Sith, and Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader). I hope that helped!
No Legends hardcovers will have Legends banners on them. The Legends banners will only be found on mass market paperbacks (and select trade paperbacks) that have been purchased post the Legends/Canon distinction in 2014. So basically if you see a Legends banner paperback, then it was printed post 2014, and a paperback without a Legends banner was printed pre-2014.

The paperback books that would fall under that category are all of the Star Wars Legends novels released first in hardcover across 2013 and 2014 (except Scoundrels). These books would be Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void, Crucible, Kenobi, Razor's Edge, Maul: Lockdown, & Honor Among Thieves.
For me I just buy any eu book that I have an interest in, so sometimes it’s in hardcover and sometimes it’s in paperback. Which means by bookshelf looks a bit messy with a combo of hardcovers sticking in between paperback. But that’s what I like for me. There’s quite a few books I have no intention in buying, however I buy a lot of books in bulk through bookfests and eBay, and I get a lot of good deals which means there’s usually 1 or 2 that I get that I don’t really want. But as a huge fan of the eu, I end up reading it and wanting to get the rest lol!
Whatever’s strategy works for you is the one you should stick to. eBay and book lots are a great way to get books for cheaper than individual purchases.
I've just gotten into reading the Legends books, but from just after Episode 6. Any guides you use, because I would like to just carry on reading what happens to Luke onwards

I don’t have too much knowledge of individual Insider issues, so I don’t feel qualified to guide you on that unfortunately. I’m from California and we have Half Price Books here.

yeah ı found my loca store crystal star and episode 1 long hard covers. episode 1 no thave dust jacket black but aftter seeing those dust jecket they are ugly. crystal star cover really good. thrawn trilogy old ones out side of west not cheap. it can be cheap on ebay but for book stores they are not cheap like 9. ı got mines 20. on the other hand books like kenobi .darth palgues or last jedi no one cares them here. they bascily suck books due to movies suck. espcial after kenobi suck serie no one pay kenobi book high price. saying darth palgus and kenıbi one of best books they only laugh of you. new jedi order and xwing serie also not welcomed here. xwing books can be pick bcouse of good covers. but new jedi order they like paradoy books most of them. high republic any direct disney books beyond suck. no one accacpt them.

1st edition paperbacks or SFBC hardcovers that were released after the paperbacks?
Personally I prefer SFBC hardcovers because I'm trying to get a full HC collection, but paperbacks are always better for reading if I'm being honest.

i went to the sfbc website and there are no star wars books listed as being available, am i dumb?
No, you aren't haha. The SFBC does not offer Star Wars books anymore. You can only acquire them through secondhand markets.
