I have never ranked up faster than I have with this deck. I thought with no "big plays" that it would not stand a chance. The only thing I have had issues with is location variance or a well-placed Cosmo. So many 8 cube games with Storm/Jessica Jones stealing a path. Or Daredevil into Gamora or Professor X on turn 5 to lock up a path. The best thing is I find this deck makes it very easy to force the opponent to play to a certain path on turn 6 which again makes retreating or snapping very easy. I highly suggest this deck. It has taught me a lot in the 4 or 5 hours of playing with it. Feel like I have become better at the game in a short window when I had felt like I was kind of at a stall.
I really like this deck. It gives me the feeling of what I would equate to a “fair deck” in MtG. I will come to the defense of my buddy Cosmo. What he does in the game is not very different from what Enchantress does; it just targets the other card type. Also, I mostly use Cosmo defensively. “No Destroyer, you may not blow up all my other friends on this side of the board” or “no opponent, your Enchantress or Rogue may not ruin my Cerebro’s fun.” But if I see my opponent play a turn 2 Psylocke, you better believe I am sniffing out (all pun intended) which lane they are dropping a Mr. Negative.
What Cosmo does that Enchantress doesn't though, is his effect lasts for the REST of the game, not one Turn, AND he's 1 Energy cheaper to deploy.. He has no counter-play compared to other tech/counter cards.
He does very different things. There's no counter to Cosmo other than playing to other paths. When one card counters so much of the card pool on turn 3...meh.
What would be a decent swap for Mysterio? Guessing there's not really anything to match the utility of the clones, so maybe just Lizard for tempo or would a 1-drop like Rocket be good?
I normally play a higher curve disruption deck, with Magneto at the top. Just unlocked Hood, so I’m going to try this out. Gamora + Demon last turn is a great lane.
Love Daredevil decks. I like using Spiderman in Daredevil decks as well. He’s a great alternative if you don’t draw Prof X. Have you done a Sandman deck highlight? I think he is very underrated and can be extremely powerful.
Sandman is a meta pick that is good against decks flooding the board out on turn 6. The problem with sandman is that you need to find a way to win 2 locations while essentially taking your turn 4 off, since sandman only has 1 power. And if you are winning 2 locations with Sandman, they retreat because they know they’ve lost. Meanwhile, there are 2 other cards that also beat the flood the board style decks at the 5 and 6 drop that are significantly better, namely leech and leader. The fact that there are 2 better options against the things sandman is good against leaves the card without a niche. Tldr: Sandman is unplayable because Leader is good
@@DuckDoolittle I think Sandman is far from being unplayable. Your points make sense but the opponent retreating early makes my point of him being underrated stand. Also, Leader doesn’t guarantee wins. I think Leech is superior to both in terms of annoying the opponent. Most of my decks do not lose against Leader unless I am screwed by locations or make bad turns.
@@jumuliah Opponents retreating early is a bad thing. If they stay in, it means they can beat the Sandman, and because of the way the card works, if they’re ahead on board on turn 4 after you play a 1 power card, they likely will be able to. So playing the card often means you win 1-2 cubes and lose 4-8. As far as deck you play not losing to Leader, that doesn’t have anything to do with Sandman being a playable card. I’d bet the decks you’re playing that beat leader also beat Sandman. The crux of the question is this: what decks that would want the Sandman effect are better with Sandman instead of Leader or Leech? And I’d argue a deck like that doesn’t exist.
@@DuckDoolittle I don’t claim any expertise or advanced understanding of the game by any means, so could you elaborate on why opponents retreating early is bad? I don’t how gaining cubes is bad. Also, my poorly articulated comment about my decks was just show that Leader isn’t the hack-all-card that he’s made out to be and thus doesn’t warrant dismissing Sandman entirely. I’ve never compared the three cards until you mentioned it, but might there be a deck where Leader and Sandman bring out the best of their respective abilities? I know there’s decks that are probably better than ones with Sandman, but I still think he is underrated as a meta pick because he is not often played and is unexpected and from my experience, works just as well as Leech (who also increases chances of opponents retreating) and Leader (who just isn’t that fun to play with).
@@jumuliah So it’s not that them retreating is bad, it’s them retreating EARLY. It’s really easy to tell if you can’t beat the Sandman when it flips up, so most games with it will end up as a 2 cube retreat (assuming you snapped) meaning you will very rarely win big cube numbers. Compare that to Leader, where the opponent doesn’t have the chance to retreat after it flips up since it happens on the final turn. This means you actually have the chance to win those big 4 cube or 8 cube games, where Sandman doesn’t really allow for that. I’ll also compare Sandman with another card that generates 2 cube games a lot: Galactus. The difference here is that Galactus decks are inherently powerful enough that you win pretty much every time your plan works. If you could pull off Galactus on 4 every game, it would be the best deck in the game by a mile. Sandman on the other hand is a low power disruptive element. Even if you manage to stop the opponent’s main strategy with his effect, because the effect is symmetrical, if they were ahead turn 4 when you played a 1 power card, they will likely stay ahead since you can now both only play 1 card. So even if you get Sandman on 4 every game, there’s still no guarantee you win that game. Also, the fact that you’re limiting yourself to low cube numbers when you win is a bigger problem for Sandman than Galactus because Galactus almost always wins when he goes off.

Man, series 3 is so funny. This is "budget," yet I'm still missing Daredevil with only like 9 cards left before I'm pool complete. I'm sure I'll get it soon.
Hey Hoog, Mysterio has been avoiding me for a while and he’s one of the last pool 3 im gonna end up getting. I’ve noticed you like to use him a lot. are there any solid replacements for him
Collector level 2198 here and still don't have The Hood, but have had it pinned in my shop tempted to jump on it...I told myself I'd hold off on spending Tokens for series 3 cards from now on (I've already picked up 6 in total) since Tokens are so hard to come by, but not having The Hood for this long has been pretty frustrating. Do you think I should just grab it?
One thing I've been meaning to ask you is, that I notice a lot of people say to stay in a game if it's a "coin flip" (50/50), but isn't that just statistically BAD? Because if a win or a loss either gives or takes double the Cubes, but retreating mitigates your loss by half, on average you are losing less by retreating when it's 50/50; it's probably only right to stay in a game you THINK you're like 75/25 to win (or better), not 50/50. 🤔
So if it's a true coin flip and there's no snapping, your expectation is gaining zero cubes. Gaining zero cubes on average is statistically better than losing a cube so it's usually correct to stay. Granted, a lot of the time 50/50s are not actually that, and there's a whole skill around identifying what an opponent is probably going to do. But if it is a true 50/50 you should stay.
Yeah. if you think you're worse than a 50/50 you should generally back out. Theoretically the math there is when you're 75% to lose you it's neutral on if you stay or walk and anything worse you go, but that kind of math is often tricky in the moment. And if it's that low they should probably be snapping.
really looked forward to daredevil, got him a few days ago and it feels like the current meta is just depressing to play him in, nonstop retreating from unwinnable games with this deck and my own builds
You never snap in this video. Is something related ti how the deck work? I imagine snapping after DD just make them retreat. Or is there another reason?
You said you don’t play cosmo because people don’t want to watch decks that stop people because it won’t get views, but I’m confused because I feel like Shang chi, enchantress, and especially professor X stop people from doing stuff. Can anyone explain to me the difference or am I just crazy? Love the video anyway!
They are similar, but Shang and Enchant generate bigger swings and are better at stealing cubes because they are reactive instead of proactive disruption. It is more obvious when Cosmo wins a game and people just retreat.
There are decks that do that sort of thing. Lockjaw normally plays two five drops and three six drops, and I don't know Hela's ratios off hand but they're likely similarly high. Death Wave usually plays three six drops as well, though the rest of the deck skews much lower. If you're going to play a high number of six drops you do need a plan to consistently play multiple in a game though.
