Ok so Im a woman and i actually like wearing bras. They make me feel secure. I have been told that its bad for me but i always wear at least a sports bra or a bralet. If im not wearing one it makes me extremely self conscious because it makes me feel insecure, even when im around my own house. As long as you get a bra that fits you than you should be fine.

A well-fitting bra or corset is actually pretty comfortable. I've had both, and the corset was actually the more comfortable of the two. If you can't breathe in a corset, you're doing it wrong.

I use to think so too cause I wore them 24/7, but with possibly age or working at a desk job, I started getting pains and dizziness.

It’s truly amazing how history keeps repeating itself :) we can see so many different “liberation” movements happening again with the whole no bra thing, and then we go back to really elaborate, push up, wire bras, and then go to bralettes, etc. Great video!

You see this revolving door of modesty vs sexy vs comfort vs contorted styles with every kind of style feature whether it's bras, dresses, makeup, hair, etc. It makes the history of fashion interesting, and you can still see it today for certain items. A couple years ago, bandeaus and bralettes without underwire were popular. Now they're getting harder to find, and I'm really sad about it because they're super comfy and can still be sexy. I went into VS last year and they had an *entire section* dedicated to bralettes. I went in again last week and they had maybe 3 options to choose from and they were the last of the stock :(

    I don’t actually hate bras

bras are amazing if they actually fit you correctly!!! make sure you don't add extra inches to your underbust/band measurement!!! I think that this kind of "bras are terrible" attitude is just going to further discourage anyone from further understanding bra fit, and why most people are incorrectly sized

I know this is an old video but poor corset history is a peeve of mine so: 1. Stays from the renaissance era and corsets are not the same thing. Stays which were worn until the late 1820s were not designed to give you a smaller waist, they were designed to support the breast, keep the back straight and support heavy wool garments. All of the support came from the back not from straps. 2. The appearance of a small waist when wearing stays came from the comparatively wide panier skirts. 3. Tight-lacing stays to get a small waist was not really possible either just with how they were cut. 4. MOST VICTORIAN ERA WOMEN DID NOT TIGHTLACE. Tightlacing was done really only by young rich women who were willing to look uncomfortable for fashion. 5. Most of the extant garments we have do have a small waist (average of 24-25 inches) but these are also the clothes of younger wealthier women who were likely also smaller than the average modern woman (in height) and whose waists would have been proportional to their bodies.

I just want to slam my head into a wall repeatedly.
IF YOUR CORSET IS UNCOMFORTABLE, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT. I make corsets. This is my job. I'm damned good at it. When I'm working, I have to be in my corset all day-- like millions of women before me. They HAVE to be supportive and comfortable. Perpetuating the myth that they're articles of torture makes my life-- and that of everyone who makes period clothing-- that much more difficult.

So disappointed about this one. You need to learn the difference between the stays and the corset ;)

The "ancient Greece" one is from a Roman mosaic depicting femals athlets. If you are doing a historical ovdrview, research your history better!

Corsetry and tightlacing isn't inherently harmful, and many practice it today. Stop spreading this sort of misinformation
