This was the best video I've seen on this topic. It's been so frustrating reading forums and other videos say, "Just use Track mode in the menu screen!" and completely fail to acknowledge that even in Track mode, the valves still close at low RPM. The difference is real though 👍
WARNING! The fuse does not just operate the exhaust valves. You will also effect other systems in your vehicle. It will not activate warning lights on your dash because those are only for critical system failures (that's why some people call them idiot lights for those who don't do routine maintence), however when you run computer diagnostics you will see several system errors within the driving components of traction control, differential, brakes, etc.
Somebody betta' tell 'em... That's not a good idea just to have a good sound. Stop being cheap, Get an exhaust mod, they're not that pricey....especially for a car like that...🤔

Ahh I can't get over how good the C7's sound. I hope to be able to buy one pre-owned when I graduate from college 3 years from now (presumably with a good job). I'm hoping they'll have depreciated by a good amount by then.

thx man, just got a used 15 convertible, its a base model without z51 exhaust so its super quiet unless you really step on the gas..its a ton of fun but i find myself speeding to hear it..lol
that’s funny. i did the same thing on my c6 and ran it without incident for ten years that way. on my 2014, the fuse is number 41. not 42. fuse 42 in my car is a 10 amp fuse for the reverse lockout and #41 is the 20 amp exhaust flap fuse. perhaps the legend printed on the inside of the fuse box cover was printed wrong. or maybe they made a change. my car is an early 2014 premiere edition.

Pulled the 42 on my 2016. Much louder and with with the Range AFM defeat device on, valves never close as the 4 cylinder mode is disabled. Love it, makes a racket but still pretty quiet when you’re not on it.
I think there is a setting that will allow the loud exhaust all the time without pulling the fuse. It is in Settings, Driving Mode, Engine Sound Management, click it off. Loud all the time.
My question is is there more crackle/ burble in the lower gears when you accelerate and then let off? I drove a C7 with the AWE touring exhaust and it did this and it sounded so nice… If this doesn’t do that I’ll have no choice but to just swap out the axleback… I’m my opinion that’s how a corvette should really sound like
I did this pull the fuse trick on a standard C7 exhaust a later on a had a code appear. Took it to GM dealer and they said the fuse also involves the emmisions system. Reinstalled fuse and no more codes.
CarGuy11 quick question, is the 4 cylinder mode a lot louder with the fuse pull or does the secondary valves make it near silent? Hard to tell on the video

I feel like what’s more important about this “mod” is that before, when you start the engine it sounds very dull and after when you start it, it sounds much better

I'm assuming this will work in my 2016 Z06? I hate when it gets quiet! I drive it in Sport mode only. (If it will work, is it still fuse # 42 on mine) Just FYI: My dealer told me (for whatever it's worth) that Track mode is reserved for the track only. Driving it Track mode can "damage" it if it's driven on the street...Don't know if it's true, just what he said...
Yes should work the same in Z06. Dealer was talking about track suspension mode since its possible to bend a rim with the stiff suspension going over pot holes.

i have the same car..pulled fuse sounds louder. lots of carbon on the outside tips. but nothing on the inside ones as if they are not working lol... is there another fuse or somthinf i can
The inside tips are used when the valves are closed because they go through the muffler which is more restriction. So not much comes out of them when the valves are open.
Hey CG11 just watched a video that shows you can go into settings and set exhaust on track sound at any drive setting. Is this different than what pulling the fuse does. Doesn't look like it.

Looks like you have it in Touring Mode not Track Mode? In Touring Mode the Valves will favour being closed more then open, I drive around in Track Mode when I want a more audible permanent exhaust note.

My 2013 Grand Sport will run the Cross Flags on screen too when I shut the radio off. Our '14 has the option of a blank screen or the clock...and its a BIG clock lol!!
No quiet mode with my tune, but I'm putting down 900+ rear wheel HP. Headers, cammed, bored, new pulleys, exhaust, the whole 9 yards. But on my first wave of mods when I still had the factory exhaust, that's when we did the override for the mild to wild exhaust.
I have an M7 Z06 and when the Settings Menu is used to select Engine Sound Management and put the Exhaust in permanent track mode the exhaust is open all the time unless the engine is running in V4 mode. Factory Service Manual also says Exhaust on all C7s is open when set in Track Mode except for V4 operation. My exhaust is loud all the time even when driving 30 mph in 5th gear. When I put the drive mode in Eco I can hear the exhaust get quiet when it switches to V4 mode and loud when it switches back to V8 mode.
does the car have to be warmed up in track mode before I pull the fuse haven't drove mine in a while here in ohio with bad weather I'd like to pull the fuse out right now will it open automatically one it starts

Pending your year, make sure you pulled the correct fuse. Also, on my 2013 Grand Sport, I had to replace the solenoid that runs the NPP Dual Mode Exhaust. Solenoid was $41, and located behind the passenger side tail lights. If you pulled the correct fuse, might be a solenoid issue? Make sure your car has the NPP option as well, beings it was an option. Good luck!!
all i do in my 15 Z06 is go to settings and you will see the modes. weather, touring, eco, sport and track plus one more, stealth. hahaaahaa, stealth mode, not even. i push the one that says my valve stays open forever, track. my Z06 stays in grumbling mode always. did you even read the book that comes with tyour vette. did you change your oil at or before 500 mikes? just saying, read your book and you will not have to take a fuse out.
I guess you didn't watch the video, even in Track Mode the flaps close between 30-40 mph in 4th gear as I demonstrated. That is the purpose of this mod to keep them open at all times. They close for federal noise regulations.
CarGuy11 Correct me if I am wrong but on your dash there is an exhaust note selector where you can select it sounding like Track Mode at all times regardless of what Mode your vehicle is in whether it be Weather, ECO, Tour, Sport, or Track mode. I did this and I do notice a huge difference when driving my 2016 C7. I bought the A8 thinking the wife was going to be driving it and she barely does which kinda pisses me off lol. Would have bought the M7. I've always had a stick on every car I've owned. Meh. Better straight line times? I dunno... I have to tell myself something... haha
Hey great video, just pulled my valve2 fuse 42! Question the manual of my 2015 basic says valve 1 is fuse 32, so I pulled that one too. Can't wait for the rain to stop so ai can test the sound...

Time for an upgrade :) You can find aftermarket ones louder than dual mode.

Yes 2014 is fuse 41. All other years fuse 42.

Yes you will hear more burbles when the valve is open.
Pulled fuse 41 on my 2014, didn’t notice any diff. It still closes and opens. Going to try and unplug the valves at the rear next.
Might be different fuse on 2014.

Yeah and when valves are closed for quite mode, the outside 2 are blocked.
If you go to sound engine management and you just have to switch it to track and it opens up the exhaust so it is at its loudest at all times

Regardless of the fuse being pulled the exhaust varies... Values don't stay always Open
With the fuse pulled, the only valves that can close are the secondary values when running on 4 cyl mode.

That's because those were the 4cyl mode valves. Those will cause CEL. The dual mode valves will not.

It will stay in Sport Mode even after you turn off so that’s how you get loud start stock.

It’s likely a different fuse # on the C6 so you will have to look it up.

I have a 2016 z06. Didn’t seem to do anything for me. Sounds the same as it did in track mode.

That is the 4cyl mode valve only used during 4cyl operation which wouldn’t help sound. Plus you will get CEL by removing it.

When i removed the fuse on my z06, the car wont go in drive. I tried multiple times and it still stays in park. Do you know the problem
It may be a different fuse # on your car. Check the map on lid for correct fuse.

I could not see a big difference. But i could in eco mode. In eco mode it just sounds like it was in sports mode.

Have a 2014 C7 , it shows 2 fuses , left and right exhaust and I want to install the mild to wild kit , what fuse to replace

It’s probably just a different fuse on 2019. Just look under lid to find exhaust valve fuse.

That’s the 4 cyl mode valve before mufflers.
My 2014 Z51 had Borla Attax already installed. Do they have the Fuse 42 connected as well?? Thanks
If it has a valve that opens & closes then yes.

No warning lights only thing auto still goes in 4cyl mode so you may hear that.

Autos go into 4cyl in all modes. Car can be off but be sure you turn if off in Sport mode.

It is. However, you need to be pulling fuse #41 for your year.

Thats with stereo off (press and hold power button). It was a 2016 change.

No the only valves that still close is the one for 4cyl mode. The rear valves stay open as shown in the video.

does the car have to be warmed up in track mode before I pull the fuse haven't drove mine in a while here in ohio with bad weather I'd like to pull the fuse out right now will it open automatically one it starts

It’s the screen when radio powered off (press and hold power button). This was a 2016 change.

As shown in the video, valves close at certain RPM/speed even in Track Mode.

Pending your year, make sure you pulled the correct fuse.
Also, on my 2013 Grand Sport, I had to replace the solenoid that runs the NPP Dual Mode Exhaust. Solenoid was $41, and located behind the passenger side tail lights.
If you pulled the correct fuse, might be a solenoid issue? Make sure your car has the NPP option as well, beings it was an option. Good luck!!

No but may want to throw fuse back in every few months to keep the exhaust valves moving so no chance of sticking.

I'm confused, you said you were in Track mode, but it looked like a white T with blue background, meaning Touring mode.

all i do in my 15 Z06 is go to settings and you will see the modes.
weather, touring, eco, sport and track plus one more, stealth. hahaaahaa, stealth mode, not even. i push the one that says my valve stays open forever, track. my Z06 stays in grumbling mode always.
did you even read the book that comes with tyour vette. did you change your oil at or before 500 mikes? just saying, read your book and you will not have to take a fuse out.
I guess you didn't watch the video, even in Track Mode the flaps close between 30-40 mph in 4th gear as I demonstrated. That is the purpose of this mod to keep them open at all times. They close for federal noise regulations.
We did the same thing with our 2015 Z-51. People need to take a little time and READ !
CarGuy11 Correct me if I am wrong but on your dash there is an exhaust note selector where you can select it sounding like Track Mode at all times regardless of what Mode your vehicle is in whether it be Weather, ECO, Tour, Sport, or Track mode. I did this and I do notice a huge difference when driving my 2016 C7. I bought the A8 thinking the wife was going to be driving it and she barely does which kinda pisses me off lol. Would have bought the M7. I've always had a stick on every car I've owned. Meh. Better straight line times? I dunno... I have to tell myself something... haha
Hey great video, just pulled my valve2 fuse 42! Question the manual of my 2015 basic says valve 1 is fuse 32, so I pulled that one too. Can't wait for the rain to stop so ai can test the sound...
+Jim P Valve 1 is the 4cyl mode valve and it will cause check engine light with that fuse pulled.
I thought manual LT1's don't have cylinder deactivation.

That will cause CEL. Also it won’t improve the sound since only active in 4cyl mode.

No it won't. Plus you can put fuse back in when taking to dealer.

Just press and hold power button until completely off. It may be a 2016 change though.
