Dear Jim, Seeing this all over again makes me hope that your friend's project comes to fruition so as to see you in your element & at your finest. I really miss all that heavy timber work. Great stuff Jim, keep it up. Kind regards.
Completely missed this one somehow last night, Jim! But I sure enjoyed it! And you explained the drawbore just fine...very easy to grasp. This was before I started watching, so it's new to me!
Hi Jim, I've been working through the barn vids, I have a barn to build too. I haven't heard the difference between the 2 scarf joints though. I assume the wedged one is stronger...could you clarify for me?
The wedged joint will resist a high tension load of the tie beams. You figure that the tie beams are fighting the roof pushing the top plates out so you need joinery that resists that kind of loading.

I am really missing it but there will be more.
My barn in Maine has scarf joints that are 200 years old............great channel bro, thanks for sharing your story.
Watched the video yesterday but forgot to comment. It’s impressive to see how far you’ve progressed on the barn. 👍👍👍
It's come a long way for sure.
Thanks for the refresher course. It can be hard to go back and find a specific video sometimes.
A reminder of how much of an impressive structure you have created Jim pretty cool looking back 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thank you Alex
My compliments sir! Your skills are something to behold. Thank you for sharing.
