No one deserved this more than he did and there will NEVER be another Moritz like him ... he owns that character, anyone else portraying Moritz has huge shoes to fill!
Robert Sean Leonard's character in Dead Poets Society reminds me so much of Moritz (both angsty and depressed schoolboys), so it makes me really happy that he's the one who presented JGJ with the award :D
I WANT TO CRY BABY BOY HE DESERVED IT SO MUCH every day he just spread light and he seemed so happy to be in the show he was so happy he was softly rambling and Jon was crying and I just UAGH
It was the runaway hit of the season, and John Gallager Jr. was considered the standout performance in an impressive cast of new talent. Check out the soundtrack if you haven't yet. Or look for videos of the original cast.
Aww he sounded so shooken up like he was going to cry! I'm so happy for him! A Tony Award at 22 is pretty amazing if you ask me! Very well deserved, too
oh yea you better believe it. jon and lea were hysterical, just tears streaming down their faces. all of the actors were crying. gallagher was so overwhelmed by everything. the screams in that room were so intense for him. he was crying so much. i wish i could describe that look on his face during the curtain call. it was a look of such love, humility, generosity, sadness and joy all wrapped into one. he's also one of the nicest, funniest sweetest guys anyone could ever meet.
All eleven times I've seen Spring Awakening I've thought of this speech when Mortiz says "Truly, truly, heaven must feel like this"...... wow.... hahaha
Thats so funny, his words are so jumbbled together, and in the mix of it all "I want to say 'happy birthday' to my friend Seth." I dont think he knows how funny that was. :D
Well, Aaron Tveit was rejected for being too attractive. He actually auditioned, and he was rejected for looking too much like an Abercrombie & Fitch model, and not enough like a Midwestern high school student.
I doubt I ve seen most of the other acting performances but i feel that even if i had, I would think John Gallagher jnr absolutely 100% deserved this award. Lea Michelle and jonathon were brilliant but John was the stand out. He was brilliant.
Is it embarrassing to say that I was really excited to see Robert Sean Leonard and JGJ in such close proximity together because, well... I thought to myself "too much hot talent in one spot"?
yeah last night was his last show. i was there. words cannot describe how incredible it was. there must've been like a 5 minute standing ovation. everyone in the audience and all of the actors were hysterically crying. he left because apparently he was cast in another show so they found a replacement. unfortunately that show was canceled due to the strike but because someone else was already cast as Moritz he couldn't renew his contract.
SO WELL DESERVED. this musical is by far one of the best ones broadway has ever had to offer. so sad it only lasted two years but what an amaaazing two years it was! :)
awww he really deserved it. I wish this was still playing. lol though he sounds like he's trying hard not to weep and Jon looks like a proud mother/boyfriend
i don't know if you've seen them already but there are a few vids of his curtain call on here. just type in john gallagher jr curtain call and click on the 2min:43sec one. it's not the best quality but that one shows basically the entire thing and you can get the general feel of how emotional it was for everyone :)
The Tony Awards are way better then the Academy Awards. Less pompous, self-congratulatory atmosphere. People with actual talent are rewarded unlike Hollywood.
Am I crazy but doesnt he resemble (even just a little) Jesse Eisenberg? Anyway I love hearing how the audience was so excited for him I love JGJ in Newsroom and of course West Wing.
Heck, he still looks great with his Moritz hair as well! In fact, he is the only Moritz that can actually pull of the Moritz hair. It looks silly on most other guys because their hair just sticks straight up. His was up, but it was also messy. I think it's odd that Moritz is the only character that has the same hairstyle in every production. Too bad Skylar's Georg look wasn't emulated in other productions.
I would LOVE to see that, I would probably start to cry. If you ever find a vid of it, let me know! You're so lucky- I was there on the 15th, the day right before.
yeah i know he seems to be ok with it now though. he's been touring around with his band Old Spring's Pike. They're an amazing high energy and hilarious group. I first saw them back in April and again just a few weeks ago. They have a lot of videos on here if you wanna look them up :)
Well to be fair neither of them have won tony's (although I love them anyway, and Jons a Nominee, so close enough). Still I see you're point, despite it's flaws Glee is still a celebration of music and those who perform it, so I could see JGJ on there perhaps.
No one deserved this more than he did and there will NEVER be another Moritz like him ... he owns that character, anyone else portraying Moritz has huge shoes to fill!
All of the reaction shots of people in the audience show them quietly proud... but Jon Groff is just GLOWING with pride
That was adorable.
john gallagher is just ugh......mazing
HEAVEN MUST FEEL LIKE THIS, WHAT A BEAN
Robert Sean Leonard's character in Dead Poets Society reminds me so much of Moritz (both angsty and depressed schoolboys), so it makes me really happy that he's the one who presented JGJ with the award :D
IT WAS ACTUALLY SO CRAZY TO SEE THEM BOTH IN THE SAME ROOM
I WANT TO CRY BABY BOY HE DESERVED IT SO MUCH
every day he just spread light and he seemed so happy to be in the show
he was so happy he was softly rambling and Jon was crying and I just UAGH
Groff s face killed me I live him agshshsj I love them.
Energetic? His performance was electrifying.
It was the runaway hit of the season, and John Gallager Jr. was considered the standout performance in an impressive cast of new talent. Check out the soundtrack if you haven't yet. Or look for videos of the original cast.
It's been 10 years and I'm?still?SOBBING???????

Truly, truly, truly. Heaven must feel like this!
did he even breathe in between his entire speech?
"I wanna say 'Happy Birthday' to my friend Seth."
Oh god, I love you, John. No one deserved the award more than you did :]]
All eleven times I've seen Spring Awakening I've thought of this speech when Mortiz says "Truly, truly, heaven must feel like this"...... wow.... hahaha
I love how his hair without all of the hairspray is just a bowl cut... it's so adorable.
I'm not crying you're crying
OKAY WE'RE ALL CRYING
Thats so funny, his words are so jumbbled together, and in the mix of it all "I want to say 'happy birthday' to my friend Seth."
I dont think he knows how funny that was. :D
*grins* Oh my God, he has the longest "Thank you" list ever. He's awesome and I adore him. If I don't see him on Broadway, I'll be crushed.
this makes me so happy omg
Jon Groff looks so happy at :42 oh my god :'3
Brilliant speech. So deserving.
How have I watched this a dozen times and only just realised Robert Sean Leonard presented it! So happy right now!
he didn't realize the whole "happy birthday" thing was was funny until everybody laughed. i love johnnyyy :)
there will never be a moritz nearly as good as john.
SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY DESERVED THIS AWARD. HE IS PHENOMENAL AND I KNOW HE WILL BE AROUND FOR YEARS AND YEARS!!!!
Well, Aaron Tveit was rejected for being too attractive. He actually auditioned, and he was rejected for looking too much like an Abercrombie & Fitch model, and not enough like a Midwestern high school student.
Since I didn't and couldn't watch the Tony Awards in 2007:Congratulations.That's great.I'm very happy for and with you.:-)
Oh my god you beautiful, perfect, talented human can you not
Its just amazing I love it when some of the greatest actors are the shyest people I just find it to be a form of humbleness..
John Gallagher Jr., MARRY ME PLEASE! I love him so much!
HE SERIOUSLY DESERVED THIS. IT SHOULD NOT BE QUESTIONED IF HE DESERVED THIS OR NOT.
D'awww, he is so adorable in this clip =)
No other actor will be able to play Mortiz the way JGJ did, he is amazing
"id like to say happy birthday to my friend seth" omg
This man's voice still gives me goosebumps after all these years... Totally deserved this award!
I doubt I ve seen most of the other acting performances but i feel that even if i had, I would think John Gallagher jnr absolutely 100% deserved this award. Lea Michelle and jonathon were brilliant but John was the stand out. He was brilliant.
muh-RITZ...?!?
wtffff the voiceover lady's pronunciation makes me die.

john totally deserved this! his version of moritz is so incredibly amazing :D
oh dear lord he is precious. amazing man of talent. :)
John Gallagher Jr is too good for Glee
I got To meet this wonderful hot actor and hug him multiple times
the look on his face when they FIRST cut to him right after they announce his name makes me smile EVERY TIME!
Aw, he's just so amazing. And he sounded so truly happy!
Is it embarrassing to say that I was really excited to see Robert Sean Leonard and JGJ in such close proximity together because, well... I thought to myself "too much hot talent in one spot"?
He is so freakin adorable, dorky, sexy, cute, amazing, talented. All at the same time.
(Infactuated? ) :D
I love his hair with and without hair spray and I also love his hugs he gives the best hugs ever
"i wanna say happy birthday to my friend seth" he /knew/ that was funny

yeah last night was his last show. i was there. words cannot describe how incredible it was. there must've been like a 5 minute standing ovation. everyone in the audience and all of the actors were hysterically crying. he left because apparently he was cast in another show so they found a replacement. unfortunately that show was canceled due to the strike but because someone else was already cast as Moritz he couldn't renew his contract.

awww he really deserved it. I wish this was still playing. lol though he sounds like he's trying hard not to weep and Jon looks like a proud mother/boyfriend
His speech was amazing.
Then again, JGJ is pretty amazing, so I shouldn't have been so suprised.
awww he's so nervous !!!
awwww "heaven must feel like this" :D JGJ you are amazing :)
I am new to SA but I am already kind of falling for his character. He's so fucking WEIRD! I love that. Well deserved award...

i absolutely love him and he deserved the award
i don't know if you've seen them already but there are a few vids of his curtain call on here. just type in john gallagher jr curtain call and click on the 2min:43sec one. it's not the best quality but that one shows basically the entire thing and you can get the general feel of how emotional it was for everyone :)
so much love for him.
He was right, I DID think of the Tony's when i heard that line in the show.
If you have not seen The Newsroom yet, give it a look, it is really good and John is really good in it!
Aww. I was searching for John Gallagher, as in the lead guitarist and vocalist of Dying Fetus.
aww john gallagher jr is so awesome!
THIS is what I call a speech ♥
The Tony Awards are way better then the Academy Awards. Less pompous, self-congratulatory atmosphere. People with actual talent are rewarded unlike Hollywood.

he was so cute back then (:
Am I crazy but doesnt he resemble (even just a little) Jesse Eisenberg? Anyway I love hearing how the audience was so excited for him I love JGJ in Newsroom and of course West Wing.
I think he looks a little bit like Benedict Cumberbatch
Heck, he still looks great with his Moritz hair as well! In fact, he is the only Moritz that can actually pull of the Moritz hair. I think it's odd that Moritz is the only character that has the same hairstyle in every production. Too bad Skylar's Georg look wasn't emulated in other productions.
Where were Skylar and the other cast members in the audience.
i know, right! me too! he's adorable and had a long conversation w/ me! i luvs him. if only konathon groof won the tony. :(
I would LOVE to see that, I would probably start to cry. If you ever find a vid of it, let me know! You're so lucky- I was there on the 15th, the day right before.

@Sophiaxxdarling yes it was based on a PLAY, not based on a musical. so, it is original as a musical.
I met the musical director he mentions =)
he was still doing the show. the hair was FOR the show
john galagher jr is the HOTTEST MAN ALIVE!!!!!
iwan rheon's moritz hair was amazing aswell!
i think john's speech was all one sentence :P
Well to be fair neither of them have won tony's (although I love them anyway, and Jons a Nominee, so close enough). Still I see you're point, despite it's flaws Glee is still a celebration of music and those who perform it, so I could see JGJ on there perhaps.
