Common in Arabic and other languages.
It signifies majesty and royalty and superiority.
Royal people will often refer to themselves as 'we' and 'us'. It does not signify plurality whatsoever.
Note: Another way to distinguish that the 'Royal We' is being used is that the Royal 'We' is ONLY and can only ever be used in the 1st person, NEVER in the third person.
So God commonly uses 'We' and 'Us' to refer to Himself in the Quran but God never EVER says 'They' or ‘Them’ when referring to Himself - the singular HE or HIM is always used.
Example of verb construction using the royal 'plural' with the verb 'to create':
'We Created' KHALAQNA is used a lot - plural form of 'to create' in the first person
'He created' 'KHALAQA' is also used - singular form of 'to create' in the third person

I remember when I asked my next door neighbor and best friend (never heard of quran)to listen to the same surah without telling him ot is from quran...he was in tears for AWHILE ...he told me he never experienced antyhing like that in his whole life...he was mesmerized and shocked and couldnt explain why he was in such a state of emotion...
"Those only are believers whose hearts become full of fear when Allah is mentioned, and when His communications are recited to them they increase them in faith, and in their Lord do they trust" (Quran 8:2) - we're all born as Muslim...

The WE is a plural of respect in Arabic. When Allah speaks He uses WE but referring to Himself

in Arabic there are two types of Plural used in diff context : 1. Plural of numbers and 2. Plural of Respect

What you're talking about is called "Pluralis Majestatis" or the Royal We. You can actually find it in a dictionary.

"us" used in the Quran is just to signify how magnificent and dynamic Allah is.
Surah yaseen is the heart of the Holy Qur'an I love reciting it daily I have almost memorize it because it becomes my daily routine

I was like you in 2004/2005 and this lead me to digging more into scriptures and questioning of many Christian doctrines and was able to lean start learn about Islam and the its prophet and was able to be vast and better informed in the end about the the two religions.And one other thing that also helped was to start reading books and watch scholarly debates between Muslim scholars and Christian scholars and even better ,check out teachings and debates between Christians (who are learned in the original language of the Bible manuscripts - Greek,Hebrew Aramaic etc.)Dr Michael Brown and Dr James White.
