the mirror is the most accurate.. Its shows accurate lighting and more detail of ur face but just flipped.. Look at other people in the mirror and they would look exactly the same as u see them without the mirror. When he says "not seeing ur true self" it actually is ur true self but flipped... either way, u will still look the same to other people as you do in a mirror but just flipped.
I feel like this is the logical answer. I mean ur seeing urself as 3d image in the mirror which the same in real life just flipped. Photos are 2d images and they distort ur face not to mention how significant lighting and angles r when taking a picture.
Something that I find that helps with the front facing camera: 1. Take a video and do a bunch of poses or whatever and then go and screenshot the frames you like. 2. When you just take a photo with the front camera, going into edit and there is a mirror option and that also makes it look better. (The mirror option is next to the rotate option on iPhone in the top left corner.)

Hi everyone! A little word of advice to those who suffers from their asymmetrical face. That's what i'm doing: Instead of avoiding looking at your face unmirrored and falling into this little depression every time you realise it's not as perfect lol - i decided to GET USED TO IT. So basically i look at my unmirrored face everyday. Take selfies, shoot videos, look at frontal camera and switching this mirror mode, not avoid videocalls with your face unmirrored etc. Yes at first it is not very comfortable, but in a few days (i do it for just for a couple of weeks) you are getting USED TO IT. It will take a little courage to accept that your face might be a little less perfect that you thougt =D , but it is really much easier to accept it now and get used to it rather than get dissapointed every time through your entire life. IMHO. I feel much more comfortable with my face now ! So i would recommend to consider it and give it a try! Cheers!
Actualy our eyes are 576 megapixel so the phone IS not accurate like human eyes and i realised Something if you use a good quality camera its will not give you a very accurate picture of youre real self, but anyways i did the same thing like you, i took picture of me every Day and now i prefer frontale camera over the miror lol 😂 but to conclude : any camera is not as accurate as human eyes

Pictures can actually represent you in good lighting, but typically a mirror is a more accurate representation of you but reversed. You lose detail in your eyes, hair, and face without good lighting in pictures and wide angle lenses can make your face appear longer.

This is because they ate a tougher diet that built up the jaw not a sugary one that wore the teeth down. Most of our jaws are too small for wisdom teeth, meanwhile everyone had wisdom teeth back then. Also mouth breathing has been found to have terrible effects on the face, because it makes the jaw so weak. Fix any allergy problems if your nose is stuffy. Also things like drinking water, getting enough sleep and having higher testosterone will have make a huge difference to your eyes and hair. Also you can grow a beard, look at a picture of james harden before and after a beard and you'll know how much a beard can change your face. Finally looks don't even matter that much anyway, I've seen ugly guys get called attractive because they're confident and funny, I've also seen good looking guys be called ugly because they have no confidence and think they're ugly.
Tbh looks matter. In more areas in life than just one. Genetics matter. The way you eat matters. A lot of factors go into it. But not all guys are attractive. You can be confident and funny and still be an unattractive guy. (I'm a straight female so that's my opinion and I'm sure other people share the same) some people can find u attractive based off that alone but not everyone.
I think the biggest factor is that a photo is just a still, 2D image that is frozen at a specific angle, expression, pose, etc. Might not be flattering compared to being able to move and see yourself in real time with an actual body.

Cmon its not that difficult. Just angle two mirrors in such a way that you can look at the reflection of your reflection. That's how you look irl, except your face will be a bit more brighter irl.
This doesn't mention that when you're looking in the mirror that is 1 meters away you're actually seeing yourself from 2 meters. When you take a picture from 1 meter away it looks like it's from 1 meter away. Why does this matter? Because of perspective distortion/compression.
A good analogy is next time when you watching something on netflix pause the show on someone you find attractive. More often than not, the person will not look good in that one frame. They might have a stupid expression, their eyes might be half closed whatever, but when you unpause they're still hot right? This is pretty much what happens with you take a picture, so don't worry if you don't like photos of yourself, the mirror really is a more accurate representation! :)

Honestly, we all look the same front camera, back and mirror. The only difference is our mentality. It’s literally all mental. People only assume they look different because their brains aren’t used to seeing them in a certain way. Do this: take a bunch of pictures with the back camera instead of the front. You will notice that you’ll start to look the same as in the mirror- and better. Stop always relying on the front camera, and your mirror. Train your brain to see what you look like with the back camera. You will start to get used to your face, and actually like your face more! I started doing this and realized I look the same as in the mirror😃. (Also, only have people who know how to hold a camera take photos. Beyoncé could even look bad, with a terrible angled camera)

It's not actually all about the reflection. A big part of it is depth of field. Many people take selfies with the front camera, which can't capture depth as well as the rear. This is in turn makes your face look flat and therefore different.e
All true! You just forgot mentioning that the appearance of any three-dimensional object, including our face, is also determined by the perspective distortion. Wide angle lenses (like most of the cameras on our smartphones, especially the front camera) will show proportions in a fairly different way compared to a 50mm lens (which focal length is known to better simulate the human eye perspective). So this is one major aspect to take into account when comparing your reflection with a photo. Then of course, the dynamics of lights and shadows in photos cannot easily match reality without any post-editing. Love your contents, by the way!

Also we cant forget that lenses are lenses, they can make some things seem bigger or smaller. Get a somewhat curved iteam and take an inverted pic of it and the object will seem more curved than what your eyes see. Like for example a smile, or maybe an eye on a weird angle, in camera lenses you can look completely different due to camera angle. Try it out! :D

One major aspect is the focal length of the camera. That's actually a reason not to use the phone camera, because it has a very small focal length which will distort the picture a lot. Whatever is nearer to the camera will look very big (for example your nose our your lips) and everything else will look much smaller, your face is also becoming more narrow.

I noticed this some years ago and I think of a different cause: the depth of the picture. When we look ourselves in the mirror with appropriate lighting, the depth is preserved and close to reality. But sometimes on the camera, the depth is not well preserved. So the picture appears flat giving the impression that the face is wider than it is naturally. That's one reason why in photo studios, photographer flash lights from different angles to help the camera reproduce the natural depth of the image. The more resolution a camera has, the more accurately it's going to reproduce the depth. Sorry for those with cheap phones. But at least the problem is likely not your face.

My eyes look different in selfies. In selfies, they look dull, faded and light brown but in person, they are actually dark brown. And my eye size varies, sometimes they're larger, sometimes they're smaller.
Trust me, its only because you are used to see yourself in the mirror, not from someone's pov. You are just as good looking as in the mirror for yourself, maybe even better looking for many many people. It's a mental stuff, if u are used to something, thats what normal is for you.

I'd say a mirror is the one that does justice, it's a reflection, therefor making it very accurate, a camera, can change and warp your face unless you get the right angle and symmetry
Mmm the ACTUAL reason why we look better in mirrors than cameras is because we have two eyes and see in 3D, cameras only have one eye so it sees in 2D, which doesnt capture dimension. Easy explanation ;)
There is a significant error in this video, the mirror actually shows you with more accurate proprotions because as you said it is a reflection of yourself, while the phone cameras distort the proportions greatly because they have wide lens with very low focal length, and it makes faces longer, noses bigger, bodies weirder etc, the mirror is far more accurate, which is also why some people do mirror selfies becuase that way the phones camera partially takes after the mirror's proportions and is not completely distorted

Instead of avoiding looking at your face unmirrored and falling into this little depression every time you realise it's not as perfect lol - i decided to GET USED TO IT.
So basically i look at my unmirrored face everyday. Take selfies, shoot videos, look at frontal camera and switching this mirror mode, not avoid videocalls with your face unmirrored etc.
Yes at first it is not very comfortable, but in a few days (i do it for just for a couple of weeks) you are getting USED TO IT. It will take a little courage to accept that your face might be a little less perfect that you thougt =D , but it is really much easier to accept it now and get used to it rather than get dissapointed every time through your entire life. IMHO.
I feel much more comfortable with my face now !
So i would recommend to consider it and give it a try!

Actualy our eyes are 576 megapixel so the phone IS not accurate like human eyes and i realised Something if you use a good quality camera its will not give you a very accurate picture of youre real self, but anyways i did the same thing like you, i took picture of me every Day and now i prefer frontale camera over the miror lol 😂 but to conclude : any camera is not as accurate as human eyes

Pictures can actually represent you in good lighting, but typically a mirror is a more accurate representation of you but reversed. You lose detail in your eyes, hair, and face without good lighting in pictures and wide angle lenses can make your face appear longer.

Finally looks don't even matter that much anyway, I've seen ugly guys get called attractive because they're confident and funny, I've also seen good looking guys be called ugly because they have no confidence and think they're ugly.
Tbh looks matter. In more areas in life than just one. Genetics matter. The way you eat matters. A lot of factors go into it. But not all guys are attractive. You can be confident and funny and still be an unattractive guy. (I'm a straight female so that's my opinion and I'm sure other people share the same) some people can find u attractive based off that alone but not everyone.
I think the biggest factor is that a photo is just a still, 2D image that is frozen at a specific angle, expression, pose, etc. Might not be flattering compared to being able to move and see yourself in real time with an actual body.

A good analogy is next time when you watching something on netflix pause the show on someone you find attractive. More often than not, the person will not look good in that one frame. They might have a stupid expression, their eyes might be half closed whatever, but when you unpause they're still hot right? Honestly, we all look the same front camera, back and mirror. The only difference is our mentality. It’s literally all mental. People only assume they look different because their brains aren’t used to seeing them in a certain way.
Do this: take a bunch of pictures with the back camera instead of the front. You will notice that you’ll start to look the same as in the mirror- and better. Stop always relying on the front camera, and your mirror. Train your brain to see what you look like with the back camera. You will start to get used to your face, and actually like your face more! I started doing this and realized I look the same as in the mirror😃.
(Also, only have people who know how to hold a camera take photos. Beyoncé could even look bad, with a terrible angled camera)

Get a somewhat curved iteam and take an inverted pic of it and the object will seem more curved than what your eyes see. One major aspect is the focal length of the camera. That's actually a reason not to use the phone camera, because it has a very small focal length which will distort the picture a lot. Whatever is nearer to the camera will look very big (for example your nose our your lips) and everything else will look much smaller, your face is also becoming more narrow.

I noticed this some years ago and I think of a different cause: the depth of the picture.
When we look ourselves in the mirror with appropriate lighting, the depth is preserved and close to reality.
But sometimes on the camera, the depth is not well preserved. So the picture appears flat giving the impression that the face is wider than it is naturally.
That's one reason why in photo studios, photographer flash lights from different angles to help the camera reproduce the natural depth of the image.
The more resolution a camera has, the more accurately it's going to reproduce the depth.
Sorry for those with cheap phones. But at least the problem is likely not your face.

There is a significant error in this video, the mirror actually shows you with more accurate proprotions because as you said it is a reflection of yourself, while the phone cameras distort the proportions greatly because they have wide lens with very low focal length, and it makes faces longer, noses bigger, bodies weirder etc, the mirror is far more accurate, which is also why some people do mirror selfies becuase that way the phones camera partially takes after the mirror's proportions and is not completely distorted
