    Excellent. So much better pacing than most language videos I've seen.
    And it's also great that you include what the waiter would say, cause when ordering in a new language hearing an unfamiliar response is usually what gets you stumped.

    In preparing for my first trip to Italy a month from now... last night I asked an Italian cafe owner in Berkeley, CA about the use of Fare when ordering. He said no. Of course a person could use any words they prefer to use, but he said the verb Prendare is more likely to be used- at least for you (not the waiter). Example- "Prendo un cappuccino e due cornetti vuoti. - I’ll take a cappuccino and two plain croissants." - Not "LET'S DO a cappuccino and a croissant", etc.

    What do you say if you do not want one of the courses? Just, non grazie? And does the waiter/waitress take the order for dolce, digestivo e caffe at the same time as the other courses?

    • @DarkLullaby92
      @DarkLullaby92 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You could add "solo" (only) when you start ordering: "Facciamo *solo* spaghetti alla carbonara". Or you can normally order and if the waiter asks you about the second course you'd just answer: "Niente, grazie/ A posto così, grazie".
      No need to order everything at the same time, you can just ask for your main courses and then decide if you actually want dessert or coffee.

    Okay, I have a question, When you go the street side food places where there is a table outside, do you normally go the counter and say I need a table for myself and I want to order food from there or you just walk and sit and then wait for the person to arrive to give your orders ? This is a bit confusing because with friends we book but what if I want to go alone and then have some food ?

    • @Strommeninc
      @Strommeninc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      At a restaurant you would go inside and ask for a table first or at a street food place you would get your food and then sit down, at a Bar/Cafe (where it is more coffee and drinks) most Italians stand up inside and order at the bar, either drink it there or take it to a table. If it is a touristy area the bars will charge you more to sit outside and have table service (A coffee might cost 2X as much for example)

    • @FarhanKhan18
      @FarhanKhan18 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Strommeninc I really appreciate your reply, but it's like to take salciccia or aperitivo alone in a bar when I want to go by myself and eating alone. Does this apply in this situation too?

      4allreasons Study Usually if you want some pizza you just order it WITHOUT appetizer, first course, second course and side course (but I've noticed it's quite common to take pizza+a dessert)...then it depends on how much you are hungry, there's not a fixed rule for these things 😂 (sorry if there are some errors in the sentences, I'm Italian😇)
