As an Uyghur still in mainland China, It is glad to see those cultures, which shared by both Uzbek and Uyghur. I hope one day we can live freely, China is very sick and crazy now.
Nadir - can’t believe you kept this from is for so long. For real though; this is one of your best projects. The story telling, colour grading, sound design and I’m not even going to start with the cinematography... mashallah bro 👏🏽
Three years later this video popped up on my page and I love it. Her uncles are so sweet, funny, so kind hearted just like our Uyghur uncles. That made me smile same time tear my heart apart 😢😢😢 I missed my family in East Turkistan so much 💔💔💔💔
Thank you so much for this amazing video! I fell in love with Uzbekistan, its people and its culture 3 years ago. The yodgorlik factory is an amazing place and I try to go there when I'm in the country.
Goodness Mr. Unique. I didn’t want this episode to end! I fell in love with Uzbekistan about 8 years ago when I read an Arabic historical fiction book about it. Ever since I’ve been dreaming of visiting it and perhaps living in it. Migrant and refugee children like us, who despite being grateful for the opportunities the host countries provided us with, feel homeless. Sometimes. As if we don’t fit within the identity boundaries that had been drawn for us. I’m glad Subhi had the opportunity to visite her home country. I wonder whether, one day, I will be as lucky as her; to visit my country, my grannies, the grave of my older sister, the grave of my ancestors. For this day to come, an entire regime should fall. Still, I hope I won’t be too old when that day comes. Thank you Nadir. Sincerely.
This is also such a major anthropological method: telling th story through the hat, as an anthropologist I can just say: WOOOOW! Amazing content, really!
For real high quality silk, called khan-atlas, you can go to Hotan sity in Sharqiy Turkistan aka Uyghurstan, now called Xinjiang -Uyghur autonomous region in china :-))). Uighur & Uzbek are like tween brothers separate by destiny or more correctly by two: china & russia:(((. Many thanks for sharing this wonderful experience.
I was so excited to learn of the Doppi Project yesterday... especially so because I am currently working together with members of the South-west Sydney Uyghur community to reveal some glimpses into their culture in our local museum/gallery. I was delighted to see that yours was exactly my experience; in every family home I visited were banquet-sized dining tables laden with delicious traditional Uyghur food! I have rarely experienced such overwhelming hospitality and generosity. I am so glad I have been able to meet this group of brave and determined people who are incredibly focused on preserving and sharing their endangered culture. (some taking significant risks to do so) I feel privileged to be in a position to help bring the little known Uyghur culture to the Australian public... I loved this story...it is beautifully shot and full of heart...a truly worthwhile and important project!🙌🏻
Subhi's culture is very similar to mine, beig around those simple traditional people really warms the heart, this was sooo beautiful, i can't wait for the next episode, please make it soon Nadir.
Amazing to see Subhi being able to feel like that her life is very much connected and rooted in the Uzbek culture. It was also interested to see her explain how Nadir’s perspective had opened her eyes towards things she didn’t see before. - I feel hostile somehow towards my parents’ culture while being a child of diaspora myself. I hope to feel the same way as you two have while developing and exploring. - On another note, thank you Nadir and Subhi for sharing something so personal. Nadir you did a beautiful job in portraying the Uzbek culture and the doppi journey.
MashaAllah @Nadir Nahdi you are someone TH-cam needs hundreds of! This is what I call quality content. Not some average video, this is a complete new level ❤
Wow, wow, wow!!!!! I am stunned and overwhelmed. This is too great, every little second of it, every caption, every single silk thread. 👏🏼 Love Uzbek, love Uyghur, love Doppi. 💫
Nadir I'm honestly at a loss for words. The beauty and value you create is so generous! Thanks soooooo much for creating this art and letting us witness the good you do.
I can't believe you produced this all by yourself, it's a work of art! I can't wait to see the rest of this, Uzbekistan looks like a scene from the Alchemist, the baza'ar, the people and the amount of culture that's in every clip! Just beautiful.
Dear Brother, this is so valuable. If been trying to learn videography for couple of years, it so beautiful to see what it can do if the story has depth, if people are authentic. I feel like I'm saturated with meaning. Completing lost sentences, completing unfinished ideas. Thank you for this precious piece of art!
had to come back to rewatch this masterpiece, and the good thing I guess about having the worst memory is that I get fresh goosebumps each time as if I’ve never watched it before :)
Appreciate it Brother. Very well done. To find these stories and gems and share them with us is extraordinarily kind of you. Thank you and bless both you.
What an amazing project, and such a gift that you have created these videos to share it with the world. I remember WAAAAY back in the 1980's doing a project for a college course and researching traditional clothing - I was already bemoaning the fact that jeans and t-shirts were taking over worldwide. I have always loved the symbolic meaning of traditional cloth. A million thanks for this and to everyone in the video who encouraged Subhi to continue to wear her Uzbeki clothing.
I cant begin to describe the joy, happiness, and knowledge that I gain every time I watch your videos. You are indeed one of the best story tellers I know. Bless you brother, God has gifted you with such talent so you could help tell stories of others who may not have the voice . So happy I had the opportunity to chat with you briefly when you were in Jakarta. I cant wait to see more, send my regards to your family as well.
i was smiling throughout the conversation between the two older ladies with subhi especially when one of them said; "When you smile, your eyes smile." Just by watching it gives me the warmth and full feeling. hats off to you, nadir! amazing video!
Your videos never failed to amazed me. This is what our generation must more relate to. It's perfection! You put the nail in the head! You deserve an Oscar!
This is so beautifully done Nadir! I feel so emotional after watching this. The way you narrate the story and manage to amaze me every single time is unreal! *cue the tears* Great, great work!!!! ♥️♥️
been waiting for this since you announced it and it did not disappoint!!! have always been a fan of your storytelling and you just keep getting better and better. this was so emotional and it really made me think about and reflect on my identity as well. thank you!!!
You are truely blessed with words. I can feel all the warm fuzzy feelings through your story telling as well! I enjoy every content you create and I was very happy to witness the girlfriend scenes again 🤣 the lady is so cute
Nadir, you always blow our minds with the great and unique content you post, and it's obvious how much you put effort into each and every scene and detail. This video reminded me a lot of the "Finding nenek" series and i can't wait for the next episodes. It's just fascinating and mesmerising. Thank you, Nadir and Subhi, for sharing this with us 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
