Some of those houses really go all-out with the decorating! Reminds me of a stretch of houses in my neighborhood. They take outdoor lights, blow molds and inflatables to a whole new level!

It's Brooklyn, NY, not Dyker Heights, NY. But it is the heart of Italian-America in Brooklyn, and at Christmas it is the most joyous and festive place in NYC.

Vi faccio i miei complimenti! Vi ho scoperto da poco e siete davvero bravissimi! Date una vera idea della cultura italo-americana negli Stati Uniti! Continuate così e tramandatela alle generazioni future! Saluti dalla Liguria! 🇮🇹

Lived around the corner on 83rd. in the 50s and 60s, Dyker (or as I pronounce it Dykeah) was the best place to grow up.

It is nice to see how Italian Americans celebrate and keep some of our traditions. However, no mention is made of why fish on Christmas Eve? A day of fast and abstinence to prepare for Christmas. Why No mention, that Christmas is the birth of Christ? I see no presepio with infant Jesus? No midnight Mass? Italian American Christmas with no Christ?. The real tradition of Italy you don’t have.

You do realize this was during the height of COVID, right? Not every church was open for Mass. And plus, there are MANY Italians from Italy who don’t honor the religious aspects of Christmas either. So kindly keep that thought in the forefront of your mind before you look down on Italian Americans.
