Thank you John for all your work. Let’s not forget the Sicilians in future episodes. Just kidding, great job.
33.3 percent Italian in LA. Proud of if🇮🇹🇮🇹
I've mailed my application back in 2022, and now what?? They keep emailing me nonsense to mail and it's wasting time
Excellent conversation! Grazie to John and Pat!
Some of the commentary here is a bit myopic. Italy is far from the only country that has these sorts of formally defined and codified social-cultural structures, norms and titles. It’s not uncommon in certain other European countries, it is fairly common throughout Asia. It’s also not without its value. The sense of it being unusual only emerges when it is held in contrast with Anglophone/Anglo-Saxon cultures like the U.S., Canada and Australia.
Dried macaroni's invention and success as a food was largely owing to the fact that it is naturally preserved through the drying process. Even without modern preservatives (which good macaroni shouldn't have), in the right conditions it should last for years. This is also why Genoa ultimately became a macaroni production center despite not producing the wheat -- macaroni is an ideal food for sailors, and the Genoa-based merchant marine relied on dried macaroni. Either way, no reason to throw away expire pasta unless it has bugs from improper storage.
I thought it was all Italians only reproduce with their siblings
Thank you for this excellent video. I lived in Staten Island from 1979-1987. I’ve always enjoyed the beauty and history of this unique boro. I enjoyed seeing all of the contributions made by the Italian people throughout the history of the island. I also admire and respect the Italian Americans for their love of the USA, while preserving their Italian heritage and it’s culture. Thank you again for this enjoyable presentation. 🇺🇸❤🇮🇹
We need that commission in NY!! I will definitely look you up Margaret 🥰
Sounds good! 🎉
You got an episode where you talk about The Sopranos?
She's not a female Santa Claus, she's not related to him, and definitely not his wife. She is her own character.
Bingo !
We are all links in the Italian/Sicilian necklace. It’ll end up beautiful.
I thought the conversation about the Italian American experience was so comforting to me. Was touched due to my experiences growing up in a Sicilian community in SF Bay Area. responded on Facebook … then the negative comments came, basically “you are American!!!” (Which is a given) other folks just went off. Goodness. I’ll still listen but dang. Thought I’d try & say thank you here.
VERY WELL DONE!!!
Wonderful episode. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve been involved with so many efforts to broaden and enhance educational opportunities for our culture and heritage in planned and sometimes instinctively spontaneous events. But this podcast, in such a short timeframe, lays out the essence of our common mission. Your dialogue, in a beautiful and casual way actually lays out the groundwork that should create an epiphany for all to emulate! R. J. DiBiase - NJIHC
Excellent interview!
Always entertaining, always educational and informative, always interesting. THANK YOU.❤❤❤
This is so much appreciated, I'm trying to replicate some recipes ❤there aren't any bakeries in Tampa that make this. I miss it so much. I can't wait to make it.
Great episode ❤😊
I look forward to your podcast every week
My grandparents immigrated last century, so I am second generation in America. I love keeping our traditions alive and more power to whomever wants to celebrate their Italian heritage.
You have attachment to your family and traditions not so much the country of Italy. And Italy doesn't even claim us 2nd/3rd generation, grandparents came and only spoke dialect. I know I'm Italian by culture/blood but Im American. Thats our immigrant story. Look how much this Half Italian half Irish guy/hoast identifies and holds it.🇮🇹✌🏼🇺🇸
Margaret is a true visionary leader in the space and supporting growth.
Amazing🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great Podcast as always!!! Teaching but actually being an educator is a calling from the heart. Thank you for acknowledging an educators’ role.
Il vero problema agli occhi di noi Italiani è che gli italo americani non parlano una parola di Italiano. Come puoi dire di essere italo qualcosa se non parli Italiano. Ciao
It is also culture , heritage not only Italian!! È anche Cultura e patrimonio non solo parlante italiano. Mia figlia di seconda generazione parla italiano.
Love this!
Hai ragione vero.
My son is going in a few weeks!
Use to live Pittsburgh I miss the food good and Jewish rye bread from home Cathy debresen B
FYI, the Southern Italian diaspora mid to late 1800's, post 'unification', spread to Canada as well. My paternal grandparents settled in Toronto in 1890's, where there was already an established Italian immigrant community.
Yo trabajé en pastelería y restaurante Bruno. Fue una de las mejores escuelas hay aprendí mucho saludos a todos y gracias por todo 🙂
War put the fear of death and the fear of God into the WW2, Korean, and Vietnam war generations. So much of those generations lived through the wars but this generation does not know the fear of the existential threat posed by Germany, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. If we did I think we would have more conscience.
I'm a like a dis!
I love all so much ! You make me feel so good 🥰😍😻❤️😘
Awesome guest. One critique though is PLEASE don't push the fluoride conspiracy🤦♂️ You guys are WAY too smart for that. The amount of fluoride you would need to consume to see any potential negative effects vs the minuscule amount that is actually in tap water is laughable. Countries in Europe that stopped putting it in are now reconsidering putting it back due to skyrocketing numbers of serious dental issues seen in children, especially in impoverished areas.
Saluti da Manfredonia (Foggia)

I love being Italian. Merry Christmas to you and your families. All of you sound great. Note to the World: We need to give a "Like👍" to this video from everyone around the world paying homage to our ancestry and letting this podcast know we support them. Love it!! Buon Natale!!!🎄
Boomers=the laziest parents😂
It's almost like "nacatole" they make closer to Reggio with that shape. Supposed to be like our Lord in the "naca" or crib in English.
I love how the emojis include this "little known" symbol and only include Saturn for the planets.
First time i see chestnuts roasting
Great conversation!!!!
Buon Natale peeps.
Chestnuts and hazel nuts are the worst. I'm all about a good cashew. Thats my tongues opinion tho so it doesn't matter much.
