Crazy he had so many! He was meant to have them!
He’s a big enthusiast. That’s the kind of people I like to meet and hear their story.
That Typhoon is clean! David has done a impeccable job of taking care of both vehicles.
Dude it was very clean. I didn’t see a single scratch or ding on it.
The typhoon brought back so many nostalgic memories. ❤
Very nostalgic
Love these GMC's!!
Me too. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to film these.
White/ gray 2 tone is my favorite Typhoon color combo.
@@Sir.VicsMasher A lot of cool colors in these but yeah that was one of the cleanest combos.
I own typhoon number 2001. Mine was originally the same color as this one but its now white/white. The black mirrors are also white now. To give some perspective of their speed compared to other cars around that time. Its as fast or faster than the 95/96 impalas with the corvette motor, it's faster than the the dodge truck with the viper motor. Now going by advertised times most of the cars have a higher 1/4 mile time. Remember those numbers are from an experienced driver who knows how to drive cars on more than a layman's level. Remember what makes the sy/ty so fast is their weight. The typhoon is 3800lbs about the weight of a small passenger car and its awd. I have left mustang 5.0s and ford raptors in disbelief at the line. Of course they caught up because its still just a little better than stock hp. What got me interested in typhoons is my grandnational. I have an 87 t top car. My grandnational has been built from the engine to the transmission. Its now pushing about 500hp and 600tq on a little better than basic rebuild. My typhoon has been upgraded with forged internals and arp hardware a little bigger turbo. The problems that sy/tys have that don't affect grandnationals is that first syty are horrible on ignition systems. They use outdated old school distributors that have an icm that sits right under the cap and will fail at any moment. I think i have bought about 20 icm. They also have the 700r4 transmission that even when built is weak. The grandnational has the 200r4 and once you build it you can beat on it. Most people when making big HP replace the 700r4 with the 4l80e transmission. Im currently getting my typhoon ignition system replaced with a maxxecu and a holley dual sync distributor. Its also getting a custom wiring harness which all the above is not cheap but adds to the performance and reliability. I don't want to LS swap such a rare vehicle so thats as far as i go as an aftermarket upgrade. Also i want to add. We are now coming into the time of the modern classic car. Unlike cars of the past with mechanical systems controling the car, the electronics on a 25 to 30 years old vehicle is very bad and will need to be replaced and as i stated rewiring a car isn't cheap work.
I agree. The 1/4 mile times are higher when they tested them on Motorweek but I have seen videos of them going mid 13’s in stock form. And the 0-60 times are higher on there. I’ve also seen as low as 4.5 sec 0-60 on the syclone.
I believe you on these things can still hang with some of today’s vehicles. And yeah I wouldn’t LS swap it either. Way cooler to see the 4.3 built making power than a LS swap.
@@jdgreen214 also when I was editing the syclone video and doing research I didn’t realize it held the quickest truck title for 30 years till the TRX came out. That was very interesting to me. Such cool vehicles.
@@shaneomatic91 Yeah. that's insane right. I will tell you something about turbo vehicles. When that tempture drops around 40 degrees they get a lot more power. The guy who was on the grandnational team it stated that the GN was close to 300hp stock on cold days. Also it's a dog in the heat. I live in the south and we get hot and humid the turbo cars are really sluggish. I have alcohol injection on my GN and it helps cool the air some.
oh yes most definitely. I live in Houston and I have a 1g Eagle talon TSI and a supercharged 2014 5.0 mustang. Our time to shine is November- February usually 😂😂
Great clean car, love the square body
Me too
