☺️ ~ I remember seeing this style of street light lantern as a child along with the “other” low-pressure-sodium glow lamps & mercury vapour fluorescing lamp bulbs - before they were replaced by high pressure sodium arc lamps > LED & (in some parts of the UK) re-introduced fluorescent street lights, 😒
I painted mine (after almost 20 years of outside use) with 2 component polyurethane paint. But normal oil based paint is OK too. Then the fiber problem is gone ;)
They look good and the gear lasts but as you said they start shedding badly after a decade or so! I gave mine a good going over with some 1200 wet n dry! (And my Mi26, SGS203 and MA90 lol. All were shedding quite badly!)
I have an MI80 myself retro-fitted with an LED corn lamp, and i must say its quite a reliable lantern much more thought put into it than the newer MI36's.. @@TheCORC964
Thanks for posting Ethan. How I love SOX lamps!
They’re nice aren’t they? Shame they’ll all be gone soon and be horrid cool white led things that fail after a year or two if you’re lucky..

I personally prefer the older ones that had the metal casting but they’re ok I guess
@@TheCORC964 The ones such as the MI50 and MI80 i'm guessing you mean about the metal casing?
@@Streetlamps90 indeed, since getting an mi80 I can confirm I definitely prefer it over the mi36
