Thanks for catching that. Somehow the copy paste didn't. The links are live now.

Thanks for the info, I plan on doing that with my new equipment. I had a swarm leave after I put them in a new hive that smelled like pine.

It really does make a big difference. Also, putting a queen excluder on top of the bottom board and under the box for about 3 days helps a lot.

    Hi there. . .
I use the Darkest Ex Brood Comb on say x2 Frames. And add Empty Frames (No comb or Foundation) with the rest. You can if you want add some 1x1 " Plastic Mesh (Yard Planter Mesh type) and this gives the 'Incoming Swarm' something to hang off, as they enter en mass.
Also using a bit of Lemon Grass Essential Oil, dot some on a bit of Cardboard, pin in the inner Front Wall, above the Entrance.
A Win, win, every time. 👍
I find x2 Nuc Boxes above each other, works better than a single x10 Frame Box, re Bait Hive 'Box' use.

They also say roughly x40 Litres Box size Capacity is ideal to lure in a Swarm !
Do remember : Bees need 'Space' to congregate.
Once that Swarm is 'hived' eg go back in the next Day, and add proper Frames ! ASAP. Before, they start to truely building that 'New White Comb.' (Take out that Mesh Frame) and replace with eg a Foundation or Wired with Starter Strip Frames. Otherwise, you will have tons of random "Brace Comb" to deal with. Just saying, sorting that out (clearing it) is a real mess. . . And very sticky !!!
    Metric to Imperial :
Think thats about x'10 Gallons' Stateside, Maths wise. . . 😉

That hive had 2 frames of old comb, it was two nucs stacked with frames in the top box, it did have lemon grass oil rubbed on the back wall. It was on a platform so plenty of room for the incoming swarm to hang out as they waited to go in. It was just all brand new equipment and smelled like turpentine. Three days after treating with propolis tincture and slum gum a swarm moved right on in. Here in south Florida, it seems that swarms fit themselves to the size of the trap. Little ones don't move into big traps, nor vice versa.

I was waiting for you to get your sleeve all covered while you were painting the inside of the box . That would not have been good on that pretty new yellow shirt . Thanks
